A nicely paved path that is a popular path for the community of East Orlando and its visitors to seek a respite from the asphalt and concrete of Orlando's urban sprawl. I start at Blanchard Park and just follow where my soul pulls towards. Again, Orlando has enough urban sprawl and trying to adhere to a schedule or a destination, at least for me, seems counterproductive to seeking a refuge from what we deem as civilization. The birds and nature provide my soundtrack, so I don't need headphones and the simple beauty is enough to keep my attention. This oasis just off of the highway is a welcome getaway for me. An escape from a modern city and a welcome place to clear my head and exorcise my soul of stress. I recommend a visit here.

12/25/2016 - Every time I am in Orlando I have to come to this nicely paved 8.1 mile trail. It is always well kept. During this visit, after my run I decided to take a few pictures and saw many birds, and even an otter, just basking in the sun. We even got double rainbows. It is truly a beautiful trail. I remember when they first started building this trail and all the additions after. It runs from Alafaya Trail through Forsyth Road. You can really appreciate all the trees that have grown in and all the wildlife that lives there now. I highly recommend this trail if you are in the East side of Orlando.

The best view on the trail, unfortunately you also are often by large power lines most of the trail.

I started at Blanchard park and ride until I hit a rode to cross. There are many bridges and water running along side. Not many benches although there is the occcasional water fountain or pavilion. Lots of families and people walking, talking photos and lounging.

This is a very nice, multi-used, paved trail that is about 8 miles long. My wife and I have ridden out bikes along this path and really like it. It runs along a little stream/creek, has some pretty bridges along the way, and runs through Blanchard Park, which is the busiest part of the trail. Our only caution is that there is almost no shade and you must go early in the morning if you prefer to avoid that much sun. Overall, we really like this trail.

The park is spacious as a saw lots of spaces to walk and play sports. I also saw people play cricket in one of the fields. I think there was a playground, but I didn't pay close attention. I was more focused on the event, which had various vendors and stages showcasing music and pioneer reenactments. They used to have horses that kids (and a kid at heart that's me) can ride during the event, but they didn't have them this year. So, not sure if the park is equestrian friendly. But the park was clean and family friendly. It is a nice free park for sports, events, and family activities.

Joe Anglin designed the park to be more passive and appealing to adults as opposed to having more sports amenities like other area Orlando parks. The centerpiece of Cypress Grove is a 1925 two-story Estate House owned by one of the county's earliest tax collectors. The house has been renovated to accommodate weddings, showers, and other private events and the grounds have been landscaped to provide a lovely backdrop for events held on the grounds. . Other amenities in this park include a 1.2 mile loop trail for walking, running, and biking, a playground, picnic pavilions, fishing pier, dog park, sports fields, and restrooms. What stands out for me is how beautiful this park is. Spanish moss drips from oak and flowering crepe myrtle trees that provide shade over the parks walkways. Cypress Grove Park is spotlessly maintained. You can easily see why decades of Orlando families have been drawn to this recreational paradise.

This lovely neighborhood park was named in honor of Wilson Phelps, a Chicago businessman who toured…read morethe area in 1874 and purchased land east of Lake Osceola for a citrus business. In addition to growing citrus, Phelps sold lots to fellow Chicagoans and mentored Loring Chase and Oliver Chapman into turning this largely unsettled area into an upscale winter resort. Phelps, acting as a one-man chamber of commerce, provided the basis of the promotional materials used by Chase and Chapman who marketed Winter Park to wealthy northerners. This nearly six acre park, in Winter Park, provides both natural beauty and recreational opportunities. One of the nicest features of this park is the playground that was rebuilt in 2021 by Kompan Design with input from area residents. This playground was designed to improve physical, cognitive, creative, and social development while fostering imaginative play and friendships. Other park amenities include basketball courts, tennis courts, pavilions available for rental, restrooms, picnic tables, and outdoor fitness equipment. There are also two hardcourts for pickleball. This park is fully fenced for safety and is beautifully landscaped and it is close to downtown Winter Park where you can find shopping and dining options. This park is the perfect place for a morning stroll, a birthday party, play, or a picnic. Phelps Park appeals to all ages. Community Parks don't come much nicer than this one.

It underwent a major renovation in 2021 where they added lots of amenities and made everything brand new. Even now, 5 years later, everything has been so well maintained and still feels like new. They have a free miniature golf putting course, an awesome splash pad, shaded playgrounds, basketball courts, and a nice nature walking path. You'll also find shaded picnic pavilions and a community garden. My son absolutely loves coming here. The parking lot can be a little tricky to find because my GPS using Google Maps never takes me to the right place. Don't let the location detour you from visiting. The neighborhood and the park is named after one of the earliest property owner's daughter's favorite novel, Lorna Doone, written by English author, Richard Doddridge Blackmore, published in 1869. Lake Lorna Doone was the site of the South's first integrated Little League Baseball game on August 9, 1955. The 1955 little league season was the first after US Supreme Court rulings had eliminated "separate but equal" conditions in the nation's schools and public parks. The Pensacola Jaycees were declared winners of their local district by Little League headquarters in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. When local officials would not allow them to play against the all-white teams they instead advanced to the Florida State Tournament which was held at Lake Lorna Doone Park. They ended up losing to host Orlando in the second round, 5-0 but they were welcomed by the hometown crowd and given encouragement. In 2021, 12 acre Lake Lorna Doone Park underwent an $8 million renovation. Added to the park was the nine hole Arnold Palmer Putting Experience, fitness stations, a playground, football fields, basketball courts, a splash pad and the Winnie Palmer Nature Trail. I especially liked the nature trail where I got to see native plants and wildlife. With the upgrades, this park now has all of the amenities needed to inspire a healthy, active lifestyle for the West Lakes families who live in this neighborhood and all who visit.
