Little conch was more than we could expect! We were three families with kids from 2-14 years old. Everyone had an amazing time and the great Herron house had everything to make our trip relaxing and stress free. We even had our own private pool! At arrival and every day the staff at the resort were super friendly. Upon arrival the house had a few issues, when we told the front desk I kid you not, everything was immediately fixed. They allowed free issued of paddle boards and kayaks which the children really enjoyed. The island is in the middle keys, an easy drive to the supermarket and an hour from key west, which I highly recommend! We even were able to rent a boat for the week and dock it at the resort with no issues! I highly recommend the resort! read more

We live in Fort Lauderdale and like to escape to The Keys whenever possible. We have always wanted to stay at Little Conch Key and finally made it this past week. We were delighted in so many ways. We stayed in the Fighting Conch Cottage. It is situated on the man-made beach. There are 3 cottages like this. View is spectacular. Hammocks, chairs and thatch huts for coverage. The cottage is well appointed with full kitchen and separate bedroom. Modern bath and very clean. Great AC. The grounds are so relaxing and they have free paddle boards and kayaks (most places in Keys charge extra). Plenty of parking. All of the other cottages seemed quaint as did the pool area. I have never been so relaxed. I slept for 4 hours under the thatch roof on the first day. For tourists: Remember that the Florida Keys are rock islands. You won't get a white sand beach. That is the norm. Any beach is man-made in the Keys. The same goes for here. The beach is man-made but very nice. It is grassy in the water. This is normal for the Keys. The nearest food is about a 12-15 minute drive to Marathon. We loved being this secluded but do know that you'll have a short little jaunt for food. We will definitely be back. read more

Stayed here recently with some friends. Over all, the place is beautiful but isn't maintained. I did not personally book the rental so I can't say if that process is good or bad my review is of the property alone. Over all, the place is gorgeous. Big windows look out on to the water and the views of the sunset are absolutely spectacular. We had 5 couples, each had their own room and bathroom which is nice. The bedrooms are of good size, a couple had balconies. My biggest issue with this place is it needs maintenance work. They need to not rent it out for a few days and just fix a dozen or so things that desperately need attention. Numerous window handles were broken so you can't open / close them without removing the screens. The couch in the living area needs to be replaced urgently There are several "holes" where you will sink down so badly you will need assistance to get out. The coushins are badly worn and stained. Depending on where you sit you hit your back or legs on wood where there is no padding at all. A door handle literally fell off in our hand as we opened the door to the stairs. 2 of the bathrooms have no water pressure to where you can't even take a shower. Also the rugs are too high for the closet doors to be opened. Two of the room vents haven't been dusted in a very long time and the accumulation of dust is very noticeable. Two of the drains in the showers barely drain and need to be cleaned The hot tub has no jets, only hot water flowing from where the jets should be. Around the pool there are numerous loose stones , several right at the edge of the pool, to me this is a safety hazard and needs to be fixed as soon as possible. There are several broken chairs outside, none of which are marked broken so beware before you sit on anything. There is large amount of trash just on the edge of the walking area that could easily be picked up with some pickers. None of these things are deal breakers but if you have small kids, keep them away from the edge of the pool. Check out is early Saturday morning and check in was mid afternoon. I believe they just send a quick cleaning crew in to refresh the place between stays but no maintenance upkeep is performed. It would take such a small amount of effort to easily give this place 5 stars, but in its current condition, I just can't. read more

If you want to have your own slice of paradise then I highly recommend Little Conch Key. As "they" say timing is everything and our timing was pretty good. We visited in July which is out of season for Florida. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. There were a few other families but they (and we) kept mostly to our own. Seriously, it felt like we were on a desert island loaded with all the amenities of civilized life. Another review complained that the view they had wasn't that good. Again our timing was amazing we had one of the cottages that had the most awesome views! Each cottage has their own hammock and outdoor shower -I took advantage of both. We bought our groceries on Marathon Key and with the full kitchen that included a juicer and blender we were drinking margaritas and daiquiris while watching the sun set each night. As other reviews have mentioned ride on top kayaks are included complimentary. There is also a continental breakfast served each morning. although we only took advantage of that on our last day as we were leaving. The rest of the time we cooked our own. This is a great way to enjoy all of the keys without the crowds of Key West -but a reasonable drive to there. read more

I LOVE conch key cottages! Its a little piece of heaven on earth! The staff is so nice. I forgot my iphone charger (by the way i didnt even notice) and they mailed it to me! Who does that? They did! and they won my heart after that. The cottages are so cozy. And very private. You get use of kayaks for free! I go there at least twice a year and i havent found anything wrong with it. Absolutely magical. We went after a recommendation of some friends who had stayed recently and we were not disappointed. The location was perfect for the quiet trip me and my boyfriend had been needing. We only stayed two nights and I wish we could have been there forever. Highlights: - The kayaks are free to use! We had a great day kayaking around the bay (only flipped one time!) - The juicer! Freshly squeezed orange juice every morning? Mmm. We got addicted and bought a juicer when we got home. - The "private" beach. (I say "private" because it is shared between everyone at the resort... but we were basically the only people there when we stayed. So it was private for us.) - The staff was so friendly and helpful. Very customer-service oriented and genuine. We stayed in Cat's Eye, which was slightly small, but plenty of room for the two of us. We were on the beach, in the pool, on the ocean, and wandering around the Keys the entire time... so a small room was not a problem at all. read more

We had one of the most magical stays! Nothing, not one thing, wrong with this place, and everything right. The exclusivity of the cottages won me over instantly. But as soon as we discovered the other amenities that came with our stay, I was sent to paradise. Words cannot describe what an amazing time we had, you've got to see it for yourself! We stayed in the Coral, which I believe is their most basic room. A beautiful walkway surrounded by trees and orchids led up to a cute porch equipped with lounge chairs and table (which we lunched at each day). Oh, and by the way, each unit comes with a private charcoal grill, charcoal provided, that was perfect as we were able to cook our own meals every night opposed to eating out, enhancing the home-like experience. Our room was equipped with a kitchenette that included a small sink, coffeemaker, citrus juicer, toaster, microwave, small refrigerator, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses, and silverware. The room had some beautiful touches, including modern, yet, beachy decor, we even had a vase of live orchids at our small dining table. High-vaulted ceilings made the room seem even bigger, and the bathroom was perfect for the two of us. The property has three points of entry into the water: private beach access, a lagoon (large one, too!), and a marina. We used the (complimentary) kayaks every day, dropping them into the lagoon and beach sides. We were able to see some marine life on our kayak trip :) Sea turtles, sting rays, lots of fish in their natural habitat are absolutely stunning. The pool is awesome, nothing big, but perfect for cooling off after baking in the sun from kayaking. A lovely complimentary breakfast spread was served every morning in the tiki area, including fresh oranges for squeezing in your room! Staff was super nice and respectful! What I loved most was that the staff let you fully enjoy your stay by making it feel home-like. So instead of being super Disney-like cheery at each glance, a warm smile and short greeting was enough to make you feel welcome, yet not overly service-oriented. The reason I appreciated this the most is that it truly enhances the experience-- makes you feel like you are on your own private island. Besides, with everything included in your stay, there is no need to ask anyone for anything-- you got it all! Definitely coming back for more, ENJOY!! read more

The cottages are a great place to spend your vacation - slightly north of Marathon. Excellent location. The dock is very well designed to let you relax. We spent almost every evening there. Staff is friendly. I liked the fact that they offered complimentary kayaks with the rooms. Nice gesture and more importantly very convenient. We enjoyed the activity very much. The rooms were nice and cosy, and very nicely equipped with micro-waves, fridge, juicer, toasters etc. The fresh fruit delivered every morning were great. What we didn't like - The cottages charge a good amount for the stay, but the room service is on Request only. I would have liked them to do a general clean-up every day by default. Other than that, it is certainly a great value for the money, considering the hefty prices you have to pay to stay in Key West. read more

Everyone has a vision of heaven. Conch Key Cottages would define mine. I felt completely relaxed and happy. The water was clear and clean and they had ocean kayaks that could be used as much as we wanted. I spent a lot of time on the water exploring the bay and our little cove. The water was so clear that you could see the bottom which had sea grasses, upside-down jelly fish, various fish, and coral. The water was glass smooth for much of the time and there were never breakers. I could spend a life on that water and ever get bored. The cottage was well setup, extremely clean, and nicer than any pictures posted on their website. Our cottage was on stilts and underneath was a brand new looking weber grill with (I am not joking) a huge bucket of chunk charcoal along with a bottle of lighter fluid. I have never been anywhere that includes an amenity like this. The housekeeping staff was attentive and checked with us frequently to ensure we had exactly what we needed and that we were well stocked/supplied. They, along with the facilities staff never stopped working to ensure the site was tuned to maximize our comfort. They worked together like a close family. In addition, the full kitchen included a bowl of juicing oranges and a juicer. Every morning, I made a tall glass of fresh OJ that cannot be described and only experienced. Sitting on the wrap around balcony sipping fresh OJ is a wonderful way to start a day. The place was very quiet and relaxed making it an outstanding place to decompress. I highly recommended it and feel that everyone should find a way to go here. I can usually walk away from a vacation and move on but this is one of the very few that I miss and want to go back to. read more

We stayed in Baby Conch for 3 nights. We had a great time and everyone was very friendly. Baby Conch is like a little studio apartment with a kitchen that leads straight into the bedroom. The bathroom was really big and it looked recently renovated. There is also a coal grill in the back yard which we made use of (coal and lighter fluid is provided). My favorite part of this location is that, for the most part, you have the illusion of privacy. The Baby Conch's backyard was fenced in and also had a hot tub. The pool is communal but there aren't that many people staying at a given time so there were several instances where we were the only people using it. The kitchen is stocked with: plates, cups, mugs, utensils, a drip coffee machine (with coffee and half & half in the fridge), a toaster, salt, pepper, a blender, an orange juicer, and pots and pans. Things we loved: Free use of the kayaks Free board games and books available Juicing oranges provided as a welcome gift Illusion of privacy Great service Cleaning service every day (optional) Some negatives: The bathroom ceiling in the shower is pretty low. My boyfriend is 6ft and his head was maybe 2 inches from hitting the ceiling. It worked for us but if you are taller, than it's something to consider. While there is a "beach", it is super muddy once you hit the water and there is a ton of seaweed. However, it has been my experience that the Keys don't have "beaches" per se so I don't think you would find anything better anywhere else. The wifi was pretty decent but not awesome. Hopefully you won't be spending too much time on the internet though. There is a complimentary breakfast which we definitely appreciated for the coffee and bagels. However, don't expect too much. There are plain bagels and croissants (meh quality), blueberry and almond(?) muffins, one type of yogurt, some apple stuffed sweet bread thing, butter, cream cheese, and jam. Breakfast is from 8-10am. It was certainly fine but could be better with some fresh fruit or more spread options (peanut butter, other jam flavors, etc) Overall, we both think this is a great option for you stay at the keys! read more

Secluded and reasonably well maintained. Our family of four had a great time staying here for a week. Plenty to do on site if you don't want to leave, although you will eventually have to go somewhere to get groceries/lunch/dinner. 15 min drive in either direction for Marathon or Islamorada. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Beds are comfortable, kitchen is nice, patio overlooking ocean is great, loved having a grill and endless bucket of charcoal. Pool is warm and shaded, ocean is crisp and refreshing. The flats are teeming with small/medium game fish. Fishing rods are available on site for free. Kayaks are always available, maybe a short wait for a stand up paddle board. Kids ran around catching lizards, playing frisbee, swimming and building sand castles/irrigation systems. Safe place, kids can't wander to the highway, all the guests were chill, lots of international guests. read more

Stayed for our anniversary trip without the kids. Wanted something reasonably priced but good amenities, and we couldn't have asked for better. We stayed 8/18-21/2016 (the 1st weekend "after the season"=hurricane season) so our rate was cheaper $139/nt in the smallest room-The Coral Room. It was excellent. A small 150sq foot efficiency cottage with microwave, small fridge, coffee maker&coffee, bowl of a dozen oranges and an electric juicer which made the sweetest fresh orange juice. They also greeted us w chocolates. Continental breakfast served from 8-10 w simple danishes(muffin, bagels, pastries), yogurt, oatmeal, coffee, & oranges. Dozen+ double kayaks on grounds free to use and a bin of snorkel fins. There's a great wifi throughout the resort as well as 2 boat docks. We already booked our stay for next year in the next largest room w fully stocked kitchen. Oh, in case you have any doubts about this place, other ppl also staying here have been coming back for multiple years(20+!!). read more

As a business owner, I really refrain from writing a bad review, but I want to save you from a bad experience... I found this place on the internet. I called directly to book my stay. Because of the holiday, we had to check into the baby conch cottage one night then move to whelk conch cottage for 3 nights. When we arrived to check in this was confirmed with the manager- even highlighted on a map. We settled in for our first night to find we had no matches (a necessity for the small cottage for the grill and outdoor lighting). No manager on property. Hot tub... Cold. Looked forward to going to our beachfront cottage the next day. Wrong! Due to "construction" everyone's rooms had changed- including ours. We had no choice but to move to the very shady and dark fighting conch cottage. The manager said our reservation for whelk conch cottage was not "locked in". We pre paid in full and I have an email stating which cottage we reserved! When questioned about the difference between a "locked in" reservation and a pAid in full reservation, we received no response. This is dishonesty. Furthermore, there is an undisclosed rule that while all 12 cottages have access to the three beachfront cottages beach, (we did not realize this with the beach only being 150 feet wide) or I would never have booked here) and the furniture (so all the guests can hang out right in your cottage beachfront), the hammocks were actually reserved for each cottage and while lounging in the sun on the central hammock (as ours was in the shade), we were actually asked to move by management! We were kicked off a hammock! Wow! I finally decided to speak to the out of state owner. Had he been courteous, I would not put this out to social media. He stated we would probably never return so was unapologetic and rude. We were victims of a bait and switch- and he stated all the cottages (all the same price) are the same. Correct, except the location of each is very different and we did not get what we reserved. read more

One of the best places to stay in the Keys. It is a short drive north or south to things to do. We have not been here in a while - but they were always good to us. Fast and friendly. Never double booked. But make reservations early - this place is popular! They even have a dock, pool and grills. Great for a Keys family experience or a romantic get away. My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and decided to move to the Keys - it is THAT good! read more

WARNING!!! STAY AWAY!!! Terrible customer service. Owner/Management is rude and dishonest. SAD. Visited July 24, 2017. Nice enough place at time of visit. Had to leave early due to one year old falling down some stairs at his grandmother's house. I understand and respect that I should not have expected a full refund. This is what gets me. Was told by management that if they were able to re-book our cottage for days we had originally reserved then those days would be refunded. Fair enough. After my wife and I left we had some friends that live on Duck Key pass by and check to see if our cottage, Baby Conch, was being used. They spoke to some folks from MN that were staying there. When I called later the owner blew off, lied to and is now ignoring me. Tried to say that no one else booked but when I told him I knew for a fact someone else had he told me he would have to go check his books. I've never wanted anything more than fair treatment. Did not press the issue after Irma. Have tried to be empathetic of the plight of the people down there as I know their lives were decimated by the hurricane. That is why I waited this long to write review. PS. Dry Tortugas National Park is awesome. read more

We loved our stay at conch key cottages and had a wonderful time. The bed linens and plush towels were luxurious! We loved the small touches like oranges for juicing and very much appreciated the cold water bottles after being in the keys all day. The kayaks were a lot of fun! The only thing this place was missing was a good handyman! A little caulk here, a little weatherstripping there, etc...and the place would be perfect! read more

Very impressive, went in February and weather was spectacular. Had the Queen Cottage right on the waterfront, literally outside the door. The photos online are what you get. The only thing, is I forgot to bring bug repellent, came home with thousands of sand gnat bites! Staff is courteous and you never see them! It is like being at your own cottage/timeshare, etc. privacy is this, free kayaks, fishing poles and has swimming pool. Very relaxing will go back for price. read more
