This is such a lovely place. I've been coming here for about six months now and I'm always impressed by the volunteer staff (polite, friendly) and the food and drink (good prices, good food). The cafe attracts a loyal clientele of families, students and visitors and I always enjoy it.
This weekend, I had a really lovely flat white for £1.30 (a Gaggia machine loaned by Rich Coffee apparently) and my friend bought me some delicious sticky toffee pudding, which came heated up and made with cream. All of the cakes etc are made by volunteers, then there's stuff like soup made from the Park greenhouse's veg, a good list of ice creams, home-made sandwiches and so on. There was also a help yourself book stand. It got a bit embarrassing after a while, as I bought something before my friend rocked up, we went back to get her something, then came back again after lunch.
There are benches to sit at, and of course, the bandstand. In December, I came to the Park Christmas carols, and the cafe did mulled wine and mince pies. Fab. read more
