We had heard of unprecedented reviews of this place. We were in the area and thought about giving…read moreit a try. With its brick facade and red awnings, the Gondolier may initially appear to be just another eatery in a strip mall. Don't let it deceive you; this region's Italian cuisine is comparable to Kentucky's bourbon: The harbor is stocked with pasta, pizza, and enough garlic to keep off vampires for ages, and the bright red sign invites hungry travelers like a lighthouse directing ships to safe harbor. As soon as you enter, you are taken to a cozy, welcoming Italian restaurant in small-town Kentucky. The atmosphere perfectly balances "nice enough to celebrate your anniversary if you forgot to make reservations somewhere fancier" with informal family dining. Paintings of Venice's well-known canals and gondolas cover the walls. We started with the Calamari in marinara sauce, made in-house. I opted for the Pork Tenderloin Souvlaki plate, which includes a Greek salad, marinated, trimmed pork cuts served on pita bread with tzatziki sauce, and rice. My wife opted for the Zorba Special, which is slices of gyro meat, chicken souvlaki, pork tenderloin souvlaki & grilled shrimp, served with pita bread. Also, with the Greek salad on the same plate, she opted for French fries and a side of tzatziki. For dessert, we had a combination of both Baklava and cannoli. We also enjoyed a draft Beer pitcher along with our soft drinks. This is the first time I have had draft beer since COVID in 2020. Overall, our experience at Gondolier Pizza was fantastic. It is easily one of the best dining spots in Glasgow, and we are already planning our next trip back to try more of the menu. If you haven't been yet, you are missing out.

I walked in the front door and about 10 people came in from a "side area" and lined up right in front of me!! Maybe they had all been in the Restaurant section. I don't know but it didnt start out well. A young girl finally took my order. My dog was in the car...as I had to drive there to order.... and when I ordered the girl said 15-30 mins. I said ok. I returned to my car as my little dog was there. I waited 20 mins and went back inside. I asked the other lady if it was ready and I couldn't hear her reply, so I asked again, and omg she SCREAMED at me and said "it's almost done"! I said I'm sorry I couldn't hear you. The restaurant was full and the ovens etc were all on so there was a lot of extra noise. I have a little difficulty hearing so I asked again how long. I was on my phone (trying to kill time) and even my friend could hear her over the phone and said oh my. What happened? I said this lady just screamed at me!. I was soo embarsssed I could have cried. She was so rude and unnecessarily so. How embarrassing. I travel here for work. I'm a professional. My med pizza was $30 and mediocre. The mushrooms were not fresh, but canned or jarred. It was just she was so mean it took me off guard. I'm almost 70 and have a little difficulty hearing but she didn't need to scream at me. I was mortified. Please do not do that to your patrons. It's not nice. You never know who you're taking with!!! I believe the taller lady in back with the sauce was the owner and if she wasn't so busy I would certainly mentioned it to her. I am not from here and it was not a pleasant experience. I won't return and feel that if they had just left their phones on and answered one by one they would have done just as well?!! If you have the time, patience and don't mind being rude to.... go ahead and try it. Me, I won't go back. I'd rather drive thru McDonald's!!! People may not remember what you said but they will ALWAYS remember how you made them feel! I may need hearing aides but she needs to take a course in kindness and respect. Sorry. I hope she wasn't the owner. The staff member at the cash register with a scarf around her head.

Papa Johns Pizza

Well, we just had an awful experience ordering pizza from Papa John's Pizza in Glasgow…read more We ordered two pizzas and two cookies for delivery. See the email receipt image. After the delivery driver left, we discovered that instead of two different pizzas, we received two identical pizzas (two of the one with green peppers, the upper one on the receipt). No biggie - mistakes happen. We call the store to get a replacement brought out. The person we speak to says she made the pizzas so she "knows" they were right. Then we are told WE have to drive the wrong pizza back to the store to prove it's wrong to even get a replacement pizza started. So we are being called liars. So we take ALL of the order, as well as the receipt, back to get a refund on the whole thing. We show the pizzas to the person in charge, who had called us a liar and said they knew the pizzas were right. She looks in both boxes, comparing what's in the boxes to the labels on the boxes. She says ok, you can get a refund. No apology. No admission that the pizzas are obviously wrong. Just says that is their "policy" in such situations. We will NEVER buy pizza from Papa John's again. You CAN'T call your customers a liar - even is that is your "policy" (especially after living here 20 years and buying pizza from them that whole time) and expect to keep them. So what SHOULD they have done? They should have apologized for the issue immediately on the phone (they didn't apologize at ANY point in this whole mess) and said they would rush a corrected replacement out and ask us to keep the wrong pizza to give it back to the driver that brings out the replacement (so they could check if it was wrong then). We don't want anything for free. We know mistakes happen. But don't call your customers a liar and then put the onus on the customers to prove whether you are right or not in calling us a liar.
