We had heard of unprecedented reviews of this place. We were in the area and thought about giving it a try. With its brick facade and red awnings, the Gondolier may initially appear to be just another eatery in a strip mall. Don't let it deceive you; this region's Italian cuisine is comparable to Kentucky's bourbon: The harbor is stocked with pasta, pizza, and enough garlic to keep off vampires for ages, and the bright red sign invites hungry travelers like a lighthouse directing ships to safe harbor. As soon as you enter, you are taken to a cozy, welcoming Italian restaurant in small-town Kentucky. The atmosphere perfectly balances "nice enough to celebrate your anniversary if you forgot to make reservations somewhere fancier" with informal family dining. Paintings of Venice's well-known canals and gondolas cover the walls. We started with the Calamari in marinara sauce, made in-house. I opted for the Pork Tenderloin Souvlaki plate, which includes a Greek salad, marinated, trimmed pork cuts served on pita bread with tzatziki sauce, and rice. My wife opted for the Zorba Special, which is slices of gyro meat, chicken souvlaki, pork tenderloin souvlaki & grilled shrimp, served with pita bread. Also, with the Greek salad on the same plate, she opted for French fries and a side of tzatziki. For dessert, we had a combination of both Baklava and cannoli. We also enjoyed a draft Beer pitcher along with our soft drinks. This is the first time I have had draft beer since COVID in 2020. Overall, our experience at Gondolier Pizza was fantastic. I live in Leitchfield and I find that this place is definitely worth the hour drive I go there a couple times a month. I am so addicted to their food. In fact, I've even begged them to open a restaurant in my area. Every time I have been there, the service is absolutely impeccable. Nothing like great food and great service. They had many options on hand and tell you what they have available when they bring you the dessert menu. I also loved the fried mac and cheese balls. I would recommend you try them! The Greek salad and breadsticks were fine but nothing great, but the breadsticks were free which was nice. The service was good and the staff was Friendly. This place had many seating options and a huge menu! You should find something for everyone here. Don't expect anything fancy though, typical roadside Italian. I had the veal parmigiana and it was pretty good especially for the price the spaghetti was kinda watery but again not bad.

We have went to gondolier's several times in the past and is usually a great place to eat....this last time was not so great. The waiter only checked on us twice. Didn't give us straws. Took my drink to give me a refill and didn't bring it back until he brought us the bill. I'll be honest, it has taken some years for my fondness of Gondolier to grow to the level it is now. A recent trip to OG made me realize just how good we have it. Gondolier has the best eggplant parmigiana!! Their breadsticks are okay-a bit bland for my liking. Some butter and garlic could take them over the edge. Their marinara has a slight cinnamon touch that has grown on me. Service is consistently good. They have great cream based soups. The cream of broccoli (Tuesdays) is my favorite! This was our first time here and we were nicely surprised by the food. Unfortunately, the service was less than desirable. The waiter did take our order from across the room and handed everyone their food to their hands rather than placing it in front of them. It really seemed we were more of a nuisance than guests. First off, the dessert is what you come here for. Their cheese cake never disappoints. Their fried zucchini is my preferred appetizer. It is fresh and crispy. Their pizza is decent. They put plenty of cheese, but I think it needs more toppings. The proportion of toppings on a 1 or 2 topping pizza is noticeably less than one with 4+ despite being nearly the same price. The restaurant and the bathrooms are clean. The only thing I would say needs improvement is the service. It's not bad, but they aren't very attentive, even when it isn't busy. There were several occasions where we had to remind them of things we ordered. Maybe it isn't like that all the time, but it was on my most recent visit. read more

3 stars for dinner, but 5 stars for dessert so I'll give them a solid 4. My husband and I stayed at an Airbnb nearby and stopped at Gondolier's for dinner. We were pretty disappointed by the homemade marinara and breadsticks. My ravioli was good, but the marinara was thin and bland so I would try a different sauce if I went back. Everything was pretty good otherwise and we had good service as well. But dessert is the star at Gondolier. They have lots of daily cakes and cheesecakes. We settled on baklava cheesecake and strawberry cake and they were both absolutely delicious and came in pretty big portions. The pizza was possibly the best pizza I've ever had, the Mac and cheese bites were one of the best things I've ever tasted, the breadsticks and cake were really good too. Nice quiet setting inside the restaurant. Young serving staff that was very pleasant and was always checking in to see if we needed anything. 8 minutes ago I got the spaghetti and meatsauce dinner, it came with 2 garlic bread sticks. There wasn't enough sauce to cover the spaghetti and there was no garlic or butter or any seasoning at all on the bread sticks they had no taste I couldn't get past the first bite. I will not go back and won't recommend this particular place in Glasgow. Only reason I gave 2 stars is because the cashier was nice. We are from the Chicagoland area where there are many outstanding, authentic Italian restaurants. I was a tad skeptical about Gondolier, but our teenagers wanted Italian food so we took a chance. While not "autentico", the food was very good and the service was great. I had a personal size veggie pizza. Now don't get me wrong, I prefer the pizza from my neighborhood pizzeria, but this was also very good. My husband had the antipasto salad and enjoyed it. Both teenagers had tortellini- one w/red sauce, one w/alfredo. They loved it. The free breadsticks were delicious too. The red sauce they bring to dip the breadsticks in is (I assume) the same sauce they use for their pasta. I saw another reviewer that hated the sauce. The thing about tomato sauce is that there are so many ways to make it. Every family and every village and every region has their own "right way" to make sauce (or gravy if you're from the east coast). It's not really fair to criticize someone else's sauce because it's not the way your mom makes it. That said, this sauce was a little thinner than I was used to, but it was flavorful and certainly not like tomato juice. There were some fantastic-looking desserts that we were too full try. We were staying in a neighboring small town to explore the caves. We quickly found out our food options were nil there so we ventured into Glasgow. We are super thankful to have found Gondolier as we were hungry, tired and wanted something decent to eat. We weren't disappointed. The pizza was delicious. The Greek salad wasn't plentiful. The food was priced well. They offered a huge beer for like $4 which I really enjoyed. The servers were all very sweet, albeit a bit disorganized. Must admit a personal fail: this is my second Tim here and only one check-in! I was slacking last time! I failed to check-in as I was so distracted by the best marinara sauce in KY or the amazing looking dessert cooler. This is a nice and neat Italian mini-chain. They've got quite a few restaurants in the south east. Its a bit cookie cutter on the decor. The bar is nice and welcoming but the white walls with bare minimum coverage leaves some to be desired. But....this is a small town. Its very impressive when you take that into consideration. You walk in the door and you're mouth instantly starts watering as you pass the dessert cooler. Check the pics on Yelp....you'll see what I mean. You're greeted at your table with delicious warm bread and some of the best marinara one can find. Perfect balance of chunk to sauce ratio. I typically like my sauce extra chunky....but this is great to dip with. Vegan options are of course scarce as with all restaurants in the area. Yet, you can modify one of the many vegetarian options to easily accommodate. I don't think they have many GF options. read more
