Little Bennett Regional Park offers a nature-break getaway not too far from sprawling suburbia. It…read moreis large enough that you can clock in your hiking mileage (easily ~10 miles) by walking through some preserved woods and folded watersheds with pristine streams. Due to the layout you might find yourself crossing some of the County roads that criss-cross this large natural area, but it doesn't feel urban. I've hiked plenty in West Virginia and prefer the seclusion and remoteness of the hills there, but it's awfully far away and a huge commitment of time. I'm happy to report that you can have a solid ersatz experience of nature and hiking in the woods, while stitching together a route by combining several different trails in Little Bennett Regional Park. The best part is, at the end of the day, you can drive back towards the city down I-270 and stop for some amazing food experiences that you will never have the opportunity to grab out in the West Virginia boonies. The County government biologists will tell you there are plenty of unique native wildflower colonies to be observed here as well as unique aquatic organisms such as frogs, salamanders and fish in the streams. Protect and enjoy this place! Park at one of several access points and make up a circuit hike using a map. This is the best map I have found: http://www.montgomeryparks.org/PPSD/ParkTrails/trails_MAPS/trailmap_pdfs/LittleBennett_trails.pdf

It is located pretty close off the highway which is convenient when coming here. They have nice camping grounds and plenty of hiking trails. If you expect to get a mountain peak picture or to see a waterfall this is not your place, it is just standard woods here. The trails are maintained well, you will not have to walk through any areas that have been overgrown with bush. The trails are pretty easy since it is not climbing a mountain. Highly recommend coming here if you live in the area.

It was a great combination for both the kids and adults. The inflatable waterpark kept the kids busy for the entire session. El Jefe, the large slide, and Thor, the climbing tower and slide, were our favorites. I strongly recommend booking one of the first sessions during the summer. We went early when it was less crowded, and it became noticeably busier later. In the afternoon, we completed the green and blue aerial trails. Both were a lot of fun, and the progression from one to the next worked well. Overall, River Riders is an excellent choice for families or groups looking for an active full day near Harpers Ferry.

Despite having prior rafting experience and maintaining strong physical fitness, this individual tubing trip presented hazardous conditions with virtually no on-water safety support. Key Issues Observed: No Helmets Suggested or Required: Helmets were not recommended, suggested, or provided for navigating rocky rapids. I capsized and hit my head on submerged rocks--a dangerous hazard that warrants clear guidance and mandatory head protection. Zero Rescue Personnel: No river guides or safety kayakers were stationed along technical sections. When participants were pinned against rocks or stranded in strong currents, there was no staff to assist. Inadequate Instruction & Extreme Strain: Relying solely on arm paddling through boulder gardens offers minimal control and quickly causes physical exhaustion, even for fit individuals. Equipment Failures: Some tubes were punctured by sharp rocks, leaving guests stranded in turbulent water with no emergency extraction protocol. Commercial river outfitters have a basic duty of care to provide essential protective gear, clear instruction, and active supervision. I strongly advise making sure these safety practices are in place before booking unless you have experience and are comfortable without the precautions.

I wanted to write this review after being here for almost a year. I find that fair. My experience…read morewith this facility has been nothing but great! My daughter loves the classes and does not want me to cancel ever. She began coming her since Feb on her 9th birthday and was enrolled into beginner blooms. After 6 months they recommended her go into intermediate blooms. I love that. They evaluate the kids to see when they are ready to go to the next step and give you the option to switch classes when available. The goal is for them to get better so seeing this and what she can do validates that. I love the show cases they have for the parents. And on an everyday basis there is seating for parents when you are waiting for the class to be finished. If you have to makeup a class it's super easy! I didn't do it right the first time and Thaina assisted me virtually to make my experience pleasant . Great customer service here. I cannot wait to continue to see my child development here. Thank you all

Coaches were super helpful, and liked that they respected the kids when helping. I was also happy to see that classes were not over packed like other establishments we have tried before. We will definitely be trying other classes after this one! I'll update as this was the first time we have taken a "class". It's still less structured than I anticipated but still loved that the coaches helped my little build confidence to try new things and didn't push them to try!

From being welcomed at the…read moredesk (I am so sorry I can't remember his name!), to our awesome guides Justin and Jasmine, to Scott who helped at the swing and doing the belay to get us down - we truly enjoyed the whole experience (despite the unbearable heat this weekend). Justin and Jasmine made sure we stayed hydrated, and regularly brought us into the air conditioning to avoid overheating. They ensured our safety every moment we were there. The rope course was insanely fun, the giant swing and zip line were a blast and our favorite part was honestly the rock climbing! Justin and Jasmine were fantastic - we will definitely come back (preferably not during a heat wave haha) and hope they will be our guides again - every single person today made it memorable for my family!
