Park looked beautiful but since we went there to walk with our dogs we did not go in. Something seems wrong to me when you cannot take your dog to the park. We declined to spend a cent in Ashland. This gem is the piece of Ashland landscape that influenced me the most to relocate from the Bay Area. Wonderful lawn area to run and play on or take a nap on the shade. A playground area that's safe but challenging enough for 8-12 yr old kiddos. Take a walk alongside Bear Creek and enjoy the cool breeze and tree size Rodedendrum plants. Pickle Ball or Tennis are usually in session at the upper courts. Photo opps abound in the Chinese Garden, Grove and Duck Pond. Please keep the park safe at all hour by respecting everyone and abstaining from drinking or smoking marijuana in the park. Both of which are not allowed on City property. Well, it looks like it might be a great park. Too bad I couldn't see any of it outside the drive around the park due to the fact that my 3 pound dog was with me. Police kicked me out. Wouldn't even allow me to carry him, even though his body is the length of a dollar bill and I saw many labs walking in the park. So annoying. read more

Gorgeous park. I like to take a walk in here each time I'm in Ashland. Flowers in the spring, brightly-colored leaves in the fall, and ducks and deer all year round. My friend and I were jogging here early in the morning one chilly fall day and she suddenly stopped. Right in front of us were five beautiful deer, only a few feet away. read more

For such a tiny town, they are extremely lucky to have such an expansive park! As you can see from the photos, the settings are extremely attractive, and there's plenty of room for a variety of activities. Some areas are more wild, especially along the river, while there are also lawns for sports and a playground for the kids, as well as random little huts. The only thing that's missing is the swans they used to have in the pond. read more

GO!! Loved all the trails one could take. If you go to the very end past the swimming reservoir there are little fairy ponds that the locals consider a secret. The day we were there, they had a brown bear sighting on one of the trails. So just be aware of your surroundings. read more

Winter, Sring, Summer, and especially Fall. This place is SOOOoo worth the stop. Bout the ONLY thing disappointing about it is a consistent tribe of poor "Limb-Danglers" (as my Grandad used to call we Hippies) who seem only interested in hanging about, pretending they are "Musitchins" , and observing persons of even the slightest substance with shifty, non-trusting eyes... To bad they are so very close to History, Talent, and Entertainment and not be able to afford going to the Shakespearean Festival, or even the "BRIT" Festival in Jacksonville. Lithia Park is so gorgeous. Overall just such a beautiful place. I love the little Japanese tea garden area. I always meant to go there and do some sort of photoshoot. I did my fair share of laying out on the grass with the hippies eating food and listening to music while I lived in Oregon/whenever I visited. I met tons of cool people there and lots of adorable ducks. One time I saw a duck sitting in a puddle in Lithia Park. Probably one of my favorite stories to tell, so be prepared for the unusual here! Heh. I wouldn't recommend walking in here past dusk because a lot of homeless people make Lithia Park there home. Yikes! Other that this little park is so beautiful and seems to go on and on forever. I never did make it too far within the park. They have ice skating in the winter, and a great playground for kids. I miss this park and wish we had something like it in my town. read more

My friend just had her wedding in this park, which is huge, green, and right off the main drag in Ashland. We literally saw three deer in the grass during the wedding rehearsal, and a few on the day of the wedding, just hanging out near the humans. This would be a great spot to have a picnic or just take a nap after lunch or a play at the Shakespeare Festival. The only drawback is you may have to hunt for parking, and there was an incident with the bride's car getting hit by an inattentive driver backing out while we were hanging wedding signs. It's amazing to have such a beautiful park in a downtown city. Reading beside the duck ponds, walking through the light trails and seeing deer abound became my favorite part of my trip to Ashland. My husband and I would walk the trails before and after eating meals, shopping and watching a play (Romeo & Juliet). One warm September afternoon, we attempted to swim in the watering hole but it was far too frigid. We watched a few other groups make the same attempt but all gave up pretty quickly. It's not the type of water that seems warmer after awhile. If anything, it seems colder. read more

What a beautiful park!!! 90+ acres of beautiful trees, vines, and flowers, creeks and streams, expanses of green grass, lots of walking paths, and a concert area. Lots of families with children, people strolling or hiking the trails, playing Frisbee or just sitting and enjoying the day, but it never felt like it was crowded or noisy. The light is wonderful filtering through the trees and, a gentleman playing a cello could be heard playing a haunting version of "Swing Low Sweet Chariot." It brought tears to my eyes! Went there twice during a five day stay in the Ashland area because it was so wonderful! read more

If you have some time to spare in Ashland, take a walk in Lithia Park. It has a great playground for kids, duck ponds and Ashland Creek with variety of ducks and some turtles. A careful observer during the late winter-spring may see dippers in the creek--small black birds that swim under water even in the swift current to catch larvae and bugs. Deer roam the park and you can get quite close to them, but keep your distance if there are fawns, especially if you have a dog--the mothers have been known to attack the dogs to protect their fawns. There are many different kinds of birds, gray squirrels and on rare occasions, a black bear may wander through. The park includes a bandstand, ice skating rink, broad lawns, an arboretum, picnic areas and an extensive trail system that leads up into the mountains. read more

Passing through Ashland on the way to Crater Lake and well worth a stop! About 10 minutes off I-5 and tucked away in a neighborhood right behind downtown, the park was peaceful, quiet and a great place to rest for a few minutes. We did a few short walks (just to stretch our legs), but you could easily spend an hour or two meandering along the trails. Clean public bathrooms in the ranger/admin building were an added bonus. read more

This is a nice park but the restrooms are always so nasty. Just took the kids to play and my son needed to use the restroom but the men's was overflowing with crap,the girls was locked. Had to run him down to a pizza joint and use there restroom. So not only do the restaurants have to pay food tax to go towards taking care of the "Parks Restroom" they also have to let public use there facility's cause the tax is going other places. read more

Lithia Park is the green heart of Ashland (it's a cliché, deal with it). On a hot day, take lunch and a blanket and have a picnic. On Thursdays in the summer, listen to the city band at the bandshell. Lithia Park was designed by John McLaren, who also designed San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, but it's no museum. read more

I saw the "No Animals" sign but it didn't make any sense to me (and my leashed dog) since being human I am an animal. We didn't make it far before 2 different old ladies politely told me dogs aren't allowed because of "few spoiled it for the rest of us" and park personnel "may ticket us." So, we left the park and all of Ashland for that matter. I have never encountered such an absurd rule in a public park. It's not like it is Buchart Gardens. read more

I give it only a 4 because I can't take my dog in the park. We walk around the park almost every day. Mostly the lower section, but sometimes all the way around the swimming pond. Lots of dogs, deer, turkeys, ducks, etc. People are friendly and love to say hi to my dog. read more
