They have a pretty active parking crew checking vehicle payment... I've heard they have no qualms with breaking windows, slashing tires, or even throwing a boot on for the deadbeats/delinquents. I mean come on, $5 is a cheap price to pay for a great day on the lake (you and your carload of people). The biggest draw is probably the sandy beach just down from the lawn... couple that with the great water temp and you got a good recipe for a chill day. Bring a cooler, chairs and some shade if you can! Oh yeah don't forget to bring your 4 legged pal if they're friendly!

This is not a pull-up-to-your-campsite type of set-up. Unless you pack really lightly (like hike it in lightly) you will need to use their provided wheel burrows to get your gear in. It's a bit of a workout :) Getting lakeside was also a bit of a trek due to the lake being so receded. The lake was it's lowest ever this year, according to the camp host- so 2020 will be a short season. Water temperature was wonderfully cool (but not cold). Go soon if you are planning on going at all. Lastly, if you are a bit adventurous you don't need to buy wood here- there is plenty driftwood lying around.

Gone are the onslaught of splinters, burns from the hot metal slides and being attacked by the countless wasps hiding in the nooks, crannies and roof peaks. Even back then, this was the park to go to! Fast forward to a recent refresh, the playground is still sprawling and super diverse, something for everyone! Wood has been replaced by plastic and metal but the laughter of kids as they run wild is still here. The only downside is maybe the lack of parking, but on hot summer days you'll find the ice cream truck posted up in the lot closest to the playground. What I really love about this park is that's it's more than just a playground. The greenway cuts through it making bike riding an awesome option. Keeping in that theme, there's a BMX style dirt track with whoops, table tops and fat banks and burms. A comprehensive skateboard park, tennis courts, a huge open grassy area, covered seating for parties and a large dog park round out this sprawling Medford classic.

I picked the largest pine cones, hidden in hubby's hoodie (I didn't have a bag), to experiment on. The Magnolia tree greeted us, as we entered the park, was in full bloom. I think it's scented, too! My favorite about this park, was the playground. I spent more time swinging with the youngest grandson, and watching him and his 8 years old playmate (friends since toddlers), and walking around to the nearest creek & bridge. If it wasn't feeling like about to rain, we could have stayed much longer! Oh, they also have to drive back to Portland, today, so off they go, and we stayed longer.

We were wrapping up a Thanksgiving weekend at the time of our visit so leaves have fallen and they may have experienced some rain. It wasn't too chilly, the sun was out and so were the locals (and visitors like us). Lithia Park is a historic park and has combinations of woodland, ponds, gardens, and gorgeous Italian-style fountains. It's no wonder the park has been named the Crown Jewel of Ashland. The park is huge! Lithia Park is located in a lush forested area and also has hiking trails but we didn't go that far. Wow, and I didn't know this but, the park is also a source of Lithia Mineral Water. The park was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Review #3266

The county park could be so much more - at least for the camping aspect. The day use area is pretty awesome. A few short trails and lots of places to lay down a blanket to sunbathe or take a dip or wade in the river. Tubing and getting wet in the river on a hot sunny day is the thing around here for sure. Good for picnics with barbecue pits and tables. Campground where we spent four nights with our trailer does need a little bit more care and maintenance. Mostly tenters but room for trailers and RV's around 30 foot max. Some tight turns between trees as the road weaves through the camp ground on a dirt road with some big holes. One of the night's or a 4-day stay was a loud and obnoxious party of peeps moving back and forth flashlights on between two campsites - that went on till 4 AM in the morning. How rude! We were a bit concerned about our trailer safety - a few shady and a few routy characters camped and I think the Ranger should have asked them to leave. The Ranger did speak with those disruptive parties a few times. The Ranger patrols in the evening were welcome. Another night music played too loud past midnight. Hello, quiet time is 10 PM! I like to enjoy myself and party too but not at the expense of being loud and disturbing to others after 10 PM. An on site host would help with noise and provide more safety. Most campers left their camp sites during the day for wine tasting, hiking, biking, fishing, and playing on the river. So, it would be nice if a host were there to keep an eye on campers trailers, RV's and tents. There is a host at the day use area making a few passes thru camp in the afternoon. Restroom maintenance needs a little improvement particularly in the Covid crisis, more sanitation and trash pick up frequency. We didn't use the restroom because we had our trailer. More attention to camp site tidiness and picnic tables is recommended. All in all, the campground is nestled in a stand of glorious trees of Madrone, pine and oak. Quite the outdoor experience for sitting in the shade of trees and around a campfire. Did I go in the river? Yes! It was so hot hot hot! Ole Ole Ole! Water cold cold cold! Ole Ole Ol! So so so refreshing! County parks can be hit or miss - in my experience - we get out on the road alot too. Stay with state parks for consistency! While the day use area is awesome, we spent most of our time at the park in the campground why I am giving it a 2-star, close to 3-stars with a possibility upgrading to 4-stars provided my recommendations are implemented. I welcome the park management comments any time. YelpOut!
