LIT Java is a neighborhood treasure. They provide an inviting gathering space for the community. Book clubs, veterans, various groups are welcome and you can follow their calendar of events through their social media pages. The place is spacious and they have a nice stage for live music, poetry readings, etc. They sell a variety of local and minority authored books for all ages. When we arrived a local author had just finished up their event there. The barista we had was awesome and super accommodating. I had a medium iced Americano with sugar free vanilla and sugar free cinnamon flavors. I couldn't stop sipping it. They have so many different drink concoctions, all types of milk and sugar free alternatives, and they can alter just about any drink to fit a customer's needs and preferences. LIT is a cozy and inviting place for all ages. I'll be back soon. I told my niece about their popular strawberry matcha latte and she can't wait to try it.

This women-owned local coffee bar is such a welcome commodity in the community! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and it's clear they're passionate about supporting other small businesses -- from the locally sourced goods to the events they host like book clubs, discussion nights, and kids' story time. Their drink menu is creative and well-curated, with plenty of seasonal options that keep things fresh. The kids' corner is a nice touch for parents looking to enjoy a cup of coffee while their little ones play. Only reason for the 4.5 stars is that the play area feels a bit micromanaged -- the kids are sometimes corrected for how they play, and it can feel a touch tense when the owners are tidying up around them mid-play. Still, we appreciate the effort to keep the space nice, and it doesn't take away from how special the overall experience is. Definitely worth a visit if you love supporting local, creative, and community-focused spaces! The owners definitely put a lot of thought in making this feel more than just a run of the mill coffee spot.

Cute little independent bookstore in Pearland! There's a lot of seating inside and some plugs, so if you need to study or get some work done you can do so. You can also bring your friends and play some games here! The book selection is small, but the books the owners have picked are great reads! I had the lavender oat milk latte and I could taste the hint of lavender with the espresso. It was quite good. The owners were super kind. Lots of parking here as it's in a plaza.

Another coffee shop inside an independent book store, on the east side of town?! Hard to believe! LIT Java had their grand opening this past weekend on National Independent Book Store Day. They happen to be located next to a wine bar that I frequent. The parking lot was packed! I had a hard time finding a place to park which is unheard of as the shopping complex is never busy. This indie book shop is Black and Woman owned! I spoke to one of the owners and she was very sweet. She was going down the coffee line thanking everyone for attending. They definitely had a much larger turnout than they were expecting which is awesome! I missed some author book signings, but I love that they have the space to host events and activities. They have a nice sized stage with some couches and tables. It felt very cozy. The book inventory is not super extensive, however I really appreciate the fact that they have a shelf dedicated to banned books! They have used books for $1 and they had some cute book themed merchandise. The coffee has potential, but it's not quite up to par (yet) with some of the other shops around town. I had an Iced Red Velvet Latte with Oat Milk. It was extremely sweet and tasted creamy like a milkshake. It was hard to detect any espresso in the drink. My best friend had an Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso. She said it was okay. I can appreciate the creativity with the drinks (I've never seen a red velvet latte before) and the staff was working hard to keep up with the demand. I think with time, the quality of the drinks will improve. I am so so happy to have a place like this in Pearland! I say this a lot in my reviews, but it's so important to support local! I hope they do well and have lots of success!

This is a really cute and fun coffee/book spot. I went here for a friend's book anniversary and I was pleasantly surprised. There was a kids corner, which all things kids like especially toys. My kid enjoyed this corner so much she spent a majority of the time there. They were serving food for the party but I was able to get their lavender drink, which did not disappoint. I would definitely recommend this place just a cute place to go read with your kiddos outside of the library. You will not be disappointed!

I took Jewel in for her 1st visit. On the sidewalk they gently used books for sale benefitting a reading program focusing on kids in Foster Care. Great space for working, reading, Podcasting, and story time for children. Great Barista on hand to make you a coffee or Latte.

This is a super cute coffee shop with a small selection of books that seemed to be curated to satisfy a wide range of readers. The place is huge, with plush chairs for sitting and enjoying a cuppa with or without friends. There's also a stage for hosting events which looks pretty cool. The atmosphere was so cozy and inviting with an adorable kiddie corner off to the back! One of the owners was behind the counter and she seemed really sweet as she made drinks. This was on a list of Black-owned indie bookstores that I saw online so I spent the day driving around the city attempting to visit the ones I'd never been to before. I wouldn't actually call this a bookstore since the selection is tiny and the books don't seem to be the focus. I probably have more books in my personal collection which I have crammed into five bookcases and overflowing onto nearby surfaces lol. The number of books isn't so much the issue for me since it's my understanding that this is a new bookstore, but moreso the quality of the few books they do have. With the emphasis on Black-owned that I saw online, I went in expecting to see mostly Black books of various genres and unfortunately that's not what I found. As a romance reader, I was disappointed not to any see new Black Romance offerings. None were highlighted and the few I found were all older titles from a years back. I was also incredibly disappointed not to find any queer books by an author of any race, not even on the banned books shelf. That actually surprised me in 2024. I think I had the wrong expectations of this place and that caused me to be disappointed but that isn't the fault of the establishment which is doing a great job at being the kind of place people want to visit. If you go in knowing it's an adorable coffee shop with a wall of moderately diverse books then you'll likely enjoy your visit. Definitely check it out for yourself and support a Black-owned business!

The workers are very friendly and nice! I had their seasonal peppermint mocha and it was yummy. I also like their book selection and sitting areas. Overall loved this place and will be back!

LIT Java is a complete experience. It is a place using Books and Coffee to Connect the Community. The coffee is excellent. I go there everyday that I'm in town. I use it as a place to work, write, read, have conversations with strangers and fellow writers. My daughter loves the lemonade, brookies and cinnamon rolls. They host different community and private events. Did I mention that the owners and staff greets you with a friendly welcoming smile each and every time enter the door. An added bonus is when the sleeve that holds my coffee has a message. Check them out for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Cute little book/coffee shop. It looks to be black owned, lots of art and seems cared for. Coffee was delicious. I'm a fan.

If you like adventures, books, and finding treasures in piles you will love this spot Parking: There's plenty of parking and when I stopped by at about 530pm on a Thursday there was only 1 other person there Selection: The selection is huge ! From kids books to vintage and everything in between. They even have comic books. There are several rooms to explore and the books are literally floor to ceiling Some areas are overwhelmed with stacks of boxes of books which is fun, but not always ideal (especially the stacks at the front when you enter- it's a bit chaotic) Prices: Prices are very reasonable (at least in the few books I looked at ) Unfortunately I didn't stay long because their AC was out making it too hot for me personally to stay in there. They said they had it scheduled to be repaired so I'll need to make another trip to really deep dive into this treasure trove
