I am a regular customer who visits this location every Friday night to enjoy the store. However, my experience this past week was completely unacceptable. While the store's posted closing time is 9:00 PM, the manager on duty began aggressively shutting down and rushing customers out at 8:50 PM. By 8:55 PM, she demanded that everyone be completely out of the building. More concerningly, she completely locked and closed the back entrance leading to the parking lot by 8:55 PM. I was traveling with two small children and asked if we could exit through that door to get to our vehicle safely. The manager flatly refused to reopen the door, rudely stating that she "didn't have time" and that the "door was too heavy." Locking exits early and forcing a parent with two young children to walk all the way around the building in the dark--simply because a manager wants to leave early--is a major customer service failure and a safety concern. This manager demonstrated a complete disregard for paying customers and clear resentment toward her job responsibilities. As a loyal customer, I expect much better leadership and basic empathy from Barnes & Noble management. I request that this incident be reviewed with the store's general manager and regional leadership, and I look forward to your response regarding how this is being addressed.
