Hilarious they took the time to write that bad review then, well working from home and frustrated with no dog to kick I suppose yelp makes sense.. But following a prolonged forced lockdown, a deadly pandemic, at height of vaccine tensions, and a nation adjusting to a new dystopian reality trying not to strangle each other in lines. Yea I think I stopped reading emails more than once a month a year before that. lol. All reasons I highly recommend therapy to people because having an objective third person in the room listening to your narratives and observing your affect can be tremendously helpful to everyone. An experienced therapist can help you navigate through your blind spots, misperception, bad habits, and help you edit a poorly chosen personal narrative or even a nasty internal dialogue. So I would highly recommend making an appointment. My only suggestion would be to simplify what you do for marketing a bit. Not sure what these all mean and clearly a lot of overlaps. And Master NLP Practitioner? That could mean a lot of things and some problematic. Also you need to add more of you with some photos, pet pics, and personal choices. Never got better advice than be yourself, it has a power to resonate that is magic and authentic. Of course nobody tells you that later your eventual goal is to have a disastrous website that nobody reads and barely works because your practice is way past full. Cheers

Upon the recommendation of the PMHNP I had been seeing for talk therapy/med management, I reached out to my insurance for a list of psychologists for ASD testing. The list was long and calling each one up was a daunting task. I went down the entire list and Dr. Schanowitz got back to me the fastest. Immediately it was clear that he is very communicative and direct about what to expect. Once he was assured I would commit to his practice, he sent over the documents I needed to fill out right away. This created a strong foundation of trust for me, who has had bad experiences in the past with uncommunicative and gaslighting providers. At first, I thought I may not be able to work with him since he's located in San Diego and I'm in LA county, but he was able to accommodate me through telehealth. After I filled out all the forms, he also reminded me of the cancelation policy and sent the link for telehealth in advance (very helpful since I also have ADHD). Through our sessions, I found him to be very professional, proactive, kind, observant, and compassionate. Whenever he said he would do something, he would do it in a timely manner and was very reassuring. He also gave clear expectations about how testing would go and was accommodating on scheduling and testing methods on more than one occasion. I would highly recommend Dr. Schanowitz to anyone who is seeking an ASD diagnosis and would like a doctor who can put you at ease through the whole process, especially if you tend to overthink everything and need constant reassurance. No words can adequately describe how grateful I am to him for making the process so convenient and stress free. Dr, Joel Lazar is a Clinical & Consulting Psychologist with a Ph.D and a very entertaining way about him. What I enjoy most about discussing moral conundrums with him is the fact that Dr. Lazar is so well-versed in Biblical lore. Even the difficult and dry Old Testament is no match for his dry wit and impressive command of the trials of Lot and the faith of Ruth. I again must omit one star only because his office is located in the Rosecrans corridor of damnation-that area that is so congested and bereft of parking spots- you must come early just to cruise for a spot. Forget about even parking nearby when the mad lunch rush is on across Scott Street at Point Loma Seafoods! I was reminded of the summers I worked at nearby H & M Landing and Hudson Bay Seafood-managing to avoid amassing parking tickets by sheer luck! There are some closed storefronts in the area with private parking and that is your best bet. I have seen many young teens and children coming-and-going here so I would say that Dr. Lazar is someone that might be helpful to the younger crowd. Also his office has a corner replete with toys, puzzles, Lego's and other child-centric stuff. He has proven to be helpful in that typical psychologist way by asking probing questions but not really answering them so much as kind of letting you answer them yourself. The timing made it very difficult to find an experienced therapist. Most I contacted were busy and not taking new clients, many didn't even return calls. I looked for six months, trying the newer young psychologists available with disappointing results. I finally found Dr. Carlson online and liked his website. He was the last one I was going to try before giving up. He probably wasn't seeking new clients at the time, but responded, was compassionate and agreed to see me. He's a Ph.D psychologist with decades of experience and was nice enough to discuss my situation and needs beforehand. And he WOULD see clients in person when the restrictions lifted. I found Dr. Carlson to be an open, pragmatic therapist who is easy to be around and talk to. He works to really individualize his modality and treatment to the client and included me in the plan. He gets me, gives me the benefit of the doubt, and I can be real and honest without having to worry about being shamed. He restored my trust in therapists and the therapeutic experience. With the work we've done Ive experienced healing and my depression has lifted. I'm more at peace and less of a tortured soul.
