He arrived early and immediately gave us some great advice about lifting our old flooring prior to fitting the new stuff as the old vinyl had a few bumps in that would have showed through on the new vinyl. Even though it wasn't part of the original quote martin lifted all the old vinyl in both rooms and then did a very nest and tidy expert job of fitting our new vinyl. He tidied up after himself and only charged us what was quoted even though he had to lift the old vinyl for us. Very competitively priced and an expert flooring fitted. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to family and friends.

An awful experience with Walton Flooring Centre…read more We visited Walton Flooring Centre to look for laminate flooring for our guest bedroom. We found a model we liked for a reasonable price and were told by the salesman that we could call back the following day to pay a deposit and place the order. We spent the following three days placing calls and leaving messages to try to pay the deposit. No answer at all at the shop and no returned calls. Very poor service and enough to convince us that we had a lucky miss! On the fourth day, we finally received a call back from the salesman who explained that they had been "busy!" He then had the cheek to demand that we pay the deposit as he had "ordered materials". The following day he made a threatening call saying they would go to the small claims court for the deposit! This was despite admitting that no order had been placed. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!! (We ordered our flooring from a competitor who are little more expensive but are approved by the Office of Fair Trading so we feel far more secure with them.)

The initial lay of floor was a messy by them. No communication between managers or indeed floor layers. The manager at Wavertree has no customer skills, no apologies and is argumentative. Inside the store there was a large range of carpets and the quality on the whole seemed to be of a high standard which was good to see. As well as good quality products they had good quality staff who found the right balance between being pushy and helpful. I had ventured inside this place with my parents but the service left me feeling as though I should come away with a product of some sort so this must speak volumes for the way this place handles its business. Within a few days it was noticed that the toilet bowl was loose. When I inspected it I noticed that the screws had been removed that where meant to bolt the pan to the floor. They had been replaced with broken screws that had paint on them that did not even match our bathroom. A short time after we had water coming through the kitchen ceiling due to a loose inlet pipe on the cistern. It was clear to me that the toilet pan was moved for no apparent reason. I removed the lino only to find that the adhesive we paid for was not even used.

The staff were knowledgeable and approachable and gave us advice on how to minimise spending (by taking up the old carpet and disposing it ourselves, save the carpet grips, etc). They also advised us to sign up to their newsletter emails to get a further 10% off. They also offer a free delivery and fitting services if you buy some fancy underlay too. Arranging a fitting was stress-free and we were contacted by phone regarding an update on time on the day. They were professional and quick and left no mess to clean up. We had freshly painted skirting boards and no scratches were left whatsoever. Overall, a great value and professional service that leaves a beautifully fitted carpet!
