My wife and I have been spending our winters here in La Herradura for approximately 7 or 8 years now. We, unfortunately have been away for the past 2 1/2 yrs due to the pandemic and are very exited to be back. In the past I would haul 6 lbs of my own locally roasted coffee beans with me, so I could have as good coffee here, as I do at home. The coffee here locally has always been pretty bad, or at least nothing to speak of. When I was walking through town one day during our first week back I saw a new café/restaurant (Lisboa), so I of course decided to investigate. When I walked in, I saw a separate counter that had different bags of coffee beans from all over the coffee producing world. I have an espresso machine so I was very excited to find whole beans. Upon introducing myself to the owner, José, and having a lengthy conversation, I discovered that they roast their own beans, and they are all sourced in small batches from small farms that use ecological and sustainable practices. I have tried 2 different kinds at this point, Honduras and Brazil, and they are both delicious. José, and the staff in general, attend to everything they do with great detail to quality. Besides my joy at finding a café that serves and sells truly great and fresh coffee, I also discovered that they make fabulous desserts as well and delicious breakfast and lunch dishes. Lisboa is now my absolute favorite place to hang out to have coffee, dessert and wonderful breakfasts and lunch sandwiches. Bravo José! read more
