This is building 10 of 10 (U of M medical buildings line the entire ring around Briarwood mall -…read moreluckily they are all clearly labeled). Overall the atmosphere of the whole clinic/center is relaxed and laid back. There's a television in the waiting room and everything feels clean and up to date. I did not receive any physician care here but I did take advantage of the walk-in lab to get blood drawn. And when I say "drawn blood" I mean TWELVE vials (my new doc is apparently extremely thorough). The woman working at the lab was awesome. She was a little snarky but in a completely accessible warm, joking way. She was meticulous with checking and double-checking all the labs that were ordered. I warned her about my veins being crap (at most places, they stab into my arm and then "dig around" continually moving the needle under my skin and stabbing every which way until they finally get a vein - I don't mind needles or pain but it's sickening). This lady, on the other hand, felt both my veins and was careful to choose a small needle. She stuck me once, precisely, right into my vein, and got a good draw. THANK YOU, LORD. Next time I need vampirical services, I won't hesitate to return.

You have to spend 30 mins on the phone running around a phone tree and repeating yourself. And if you have an active child that has moved away at college age and doesn't get seen they will drop them as a patient and tell you they can schedule you in 7+ months! I would assume the doctors would not approve of this treatment for their patients, but it's all about billing and dollars now. No one cares that your child has been a patient since they were 4.

Well, she pulled the thing that she could barely reach down with such force that it made my head bow or it would've hurt. I complained, so she did it a second time and so I wouldn't "hunch", she pushed my head back arching my back like I was doing the limbo over the back railing of this really weird enormous scale. I complained again but she refused to retake my height and refused to let me have my height measured on a normal scale. She decided I was 4'9. I am 5'3" and 3/4 so almost 5'4". IHA has me at 5'3 measured 3 years later (I am in my 50's). Suddenly my BMI was much higher than it actually was and I would have had to Suggs up for weight watchers with my insurance company to get the preferred benefits. I complained to the doctor and she adjusted my weight on the chart, but not my height! I have since gone to the hospital and asked them to please remeasure my height because my record keeps stating I am 4'9. It has finally after 5 years been changed. The other strange experience is that our doctor left for another organization and rather than reassign us another primary care physician, they said they were still hiring and we couldn't see anyone there. Which is how we ended up at IHA. I'm sure they have filled in the physician gaps by now, but you'd think another doctor could've temporarily filled in until they hired a new one. Just really a very odd office that is run, or was run for many years, by a fairly incompetent manager.

What I loved most about my PCP back in Cali was that I knew who my doctor was and could ensure that I would be seeing only the person, unless I requested someone else. This practice has three primary doctors and a nurse (I believe she isn't there daily), but they have a really nice woman(not sure exactly what her title is) but she preps all the patients before the doctors see 'em. My PCP is probably the youngest and the newest in that practice and does a great job taking the time to talk about any concerns or issues I had and didn't take über long to get to me either. It was very easy getting an appointment and the front women are helpful. If you're looking for just one doctor you can see and build a rapport with them, I would recommend coming here. Oh another plus is that they haven't moved to using an electronic system, so it is more a one on one visit, as opposed to the nurse or doctor talking to you but looking at a tablet most of the visit.

My partner and I were looking for something very specific when finding a pediatrician for our son…read more My partner actually made a bulleted list of qualifications that the doctor had to have to even be considered. He he printed out that list and brought it with us to the offices -- I thought it would be embarrassed by it, but now I know it showed we meant business! We wanted to find someone who would consult with us and respect our decisions on vaccinations and antibiotics. We wanted to veer on the homeopathic side of care whenever possible. We wanted someone who respected the fact that our son was born at home with a midwife. It was hard to find all of this in a pediatrician, but in a family doctor, Dr. Scheerer was the It man. Dr. Scheerer is accomodating, I don't feel like a sardine in a tin can in his waiting room, he sits with you and really listens to your concerns. He knows his holistics but is also affiliated with St. Joe's, so you get the best of both worlds. He supports breastfeeding. He looks like he was in a rock band once, but has pictures of his family on a slideshow screensaver. Also, since he's a family doctor, he can take care of the whole fam. He sees babies every day, so we felt comfortable to have our son under his care. His staff remembers us and it really feels a lot more inviting than any other doctor I've been to. If you really like flourescent lights, a hospital setting, and a sterile-feeling environment, then he probably isn't for you. His office is in this awesome gigantic purple house near Planned Parenthood.
