Their bench seating makes me think of a biergaarten. I also really like that there's a hand wash station outside of the ones in the bathrooms as well. It is also very dog-friendly and our friends often bring their dogs with them when we sit outside. As this is a brewing company, let's start with their beer. I am always excited to come here as the Touchstone team are always trying out new and exciting combinations for their beer! Of course, this doesn't always mean good, but as a craft beer drinker the fun is trying something new-new--good or bad! I've also noticed that Touchstone is often doing a number of beer collaborations with other breweries which raises my excitement when thinking about going. Good beer needs good food, right? Well, so far everything we have tried at Touchstone has been pretty good. They have great intuition when it comes to flavor pairings and another thing I look forward to going here for! Highlights for me have been their Pepperoni focaccia pizza as well as their braised pork belly sandwich. Lastly, their staff is top-notch and incredibly hospitable. From recommending beer & food to providing samples of the beers before you make your decision. They seem to always be ready to offer rather than make you ask. We come here for their trivia nights which is always a lot of fun, but also competitive!

The bartender (Ming) is exactly what this kinda space needs: super personable, knowledgeable, supportive of the brand, and with a seriously interesting backstory. Dude plays for The Aquabats! Not afraid to talk to ppl, and understands the right balance between sharing his story and asking about yours. Unpretentious, comfortable in his skin, and clearly a good dude at heart. You cook your own so be okay with possibly not sitting the entire time. On the side of the grill are various accoutrements for your steak. Assorted flavored salts as well as regular salt and pepper were included with the experience. You could also order compound butter for a small fee but we didn't. We had reservations and were seated near the grill in the back room. I was surprised to find out that we had to season and grill our own steaks. There's plenty of seasoning and condiments near the grill so you have to season it up there. Then place your meat on the grill and flip it when it's ready. We ordered the 12 oz. rib eye ($43), steamed prawns ($14.50), and a baked potato ($7.50). The rib eye looked really good, but I would have preferred an expert to season the steak for me. I added salt and pepper, and some garlic powder. The flavor turned out nicely, but the crown on top was the additional compound butter and blue cheese sauce we added. The prawns were small shrimps. Not sure why I was picturing large jumbo sized prawns. They tasted fine in garlic butter. The loaded baked potato was delicious. The staff were nice to bring extra toppings when requested. For cocktail, I was leaning towards the strawberry negroni, but the waitress recommended the Cucumber Gimlet, which I ordered. To me, it was okay, mainly because I wasn't crazy about tasting cucumbers and it was not too strong. It was light and refreshing. Since it was a celebration, I had a slice of lemon cake from Freeport Bakery. They put a candle in it and brought out the bubble gun. They carried 2 types of Freeport Bakery cakes, and the lemon was really good. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great first dining experience at The Butterscotch Den.
