Lisa, Lisa, Lisa!…read more Y'all, if you're looking for an amazing stylist, look no further. I'm someone who has done a lot to my hair over the years. I previously owned a modeling agency, and we were constantly changing hair styles and working with some of the best stylists in the world. After moving to the Sedona area, I had three disappointing experiences in a row--honestly, some of the worst hair I've ever had. I finally decided to make the trip to Scottsdale, where I knew I could find someone who truly cared about their craft. After doing some research, I chose this salon and booked with Lisa. In just one appointment, she completely understood what I wanted and delivered it flawlessly. With over 20 years of experience, she made what seemed impossible look effortless. She not only got me back to where I wanted to be--she exceeded my expectations. What I appreciated most was that she listened. Really listened. Then she combined that understanding with incredible skill and precision. On top of that, she's an absolute delight to spend time with. If you've been struggling to find a stylist you trust, I know how stressful that can be. Great hair makes such a difference, and we all deserve exceptional service and results. Run, don't walk, and book with Lisa. You'll be so glad you did! xoxo

I really hadn't had a professional stylist since and you hit a home run! I briefly mentioned hating my color and you gave me a toner that I love. My Experience as Both a Client and Employee…read more I had my hair done here in February while I was working at the salon. I am intentionally not naming the stylist because I don't wish bad business on her. My issue is with the experience and how it was handled. I paid for the product and left an $80 tip before fully realizing how unhappy I was. Once I got home, I was shocked. The color was extremely uneven and nowhere near what I expected. I was especially surprised because I had seen the stylist's Instagram and thought her work was beautiful. I went back for a redo, which I still had to pay for because I had to pay for product again. Unfortunately, it still wasn't fixed. I am now a licensed cosmetologist, and professionally, I would never feel comfortable allowing a client to leave my chair with this result. I will now need a professional color correction elsewhere. I have attached pictures of my hair immediately after the original service. The issue wasn't that my hair was "unpredictable." The issue was the lack of intention behind how my hair was done. Looking at it as a licensed cosmetologist, I saw no clear intention behind the placement or execution of the color. It looked unfinished and poorly thought out. My experience as an employee was just as disappointing. I received very little front-desk training and was put on the phones after only three days, expected to take back-to-back calls despite never having worked a position like that. Before I was fired, I was only ever told about ONE booking mistake: I accidentally booked someone at the wrong location. I take responsibility for that mistake, but I don't think it's unreasonable for someone new, with very little training, to make a mistake like that while learning and taking back-to-back calls. In fact, I was preparing to enroll in the assistant stylist/new stylist program because I wanted to build a career there. I was also planning to transfer to DC Ranch after picking up shifts there and having a much better experience. Henry, the manager at DC Ranch, genuinely liked me and wanted me on his team. I was excited to continue my career there. Instead, around my three-month mark, I walked into work and was fired on the spot by Sarah Lynn. I was told my termination was because of multiple booking errors. When I asked Sarah Lynn for specific examples, she could not provide any. I also wasn't given the opportunity to transfer, receive additional training, or enter the stylist program. Afterward, I went directly to DC Ranch to speak with Henry. He told me he had been completely blindsided by the decision and had been looking forward to having me on his team. Another major issue was my experience with the owner, Julie. One day, multiple people had commented that it was hot in the salon. I was also hot, so I sent a message in the group chat simply asking if anyone else was hot. About two minutes later, Julie called the front desk and yelled at me, telling me that what I had done was disrespectful, uncalled for, rude, and unprofessional. She then asked, in what I felt was an extremely judgmental tone, "Why didn't you turn it down?" I hadn't asked anyone to turn the AC down. I had simply asked if anyone else was hot. If Julie felt I should have handled it differently, she could have simply told me. Instead, I was yelled at over something so minor. What made this more concerning was that multiple other stylists told me during my time there that this type of behavior from Julie was typical. I was told she would get into moods and employees would sometimes feel the effects. I also witnessed front-desk employees being treated poorly and experienced a general lack of support and training. What makes this especially unfortunate is that I actually enjoyed working there at first. I brought positive energy into the salon, had clients and employees who genuinely liked me, and had a manager at another location who wanted me on his team. I genuinely wanted to build a career there. Looking back as a licensed cosmetologist, I'm grateful for the experience because it taught me exactly what kind of salon culture I do and don't want to be part of. I would never want a client to leave my chair feeling the way I felt after my service, or a new employee to be thrown into a position with minimal training and then punished for a normal learning mistake. Ultimately, I think this salon lost a hardworking employee who genuinely wanted to grow with the company. I was excited to build a career there, and people within the company wanted me there. I would not feel comfortable supporting this business after my experiences, either as a client or employee. I would not return, and I would not recommend this salon to anyone.

How have I not written a review yet for Deana?! She is THE BEST!…read more I've been a client of hers for over 4 years now. I had never gotten a real hair cut before and had been eyeballing a balayage. I had carefully looked over the course of a month to find the stylist for me, and Deana's balayage photos were the only ones I loved. Despite an insanely busy schedule, she booked me for an appointment. The wait was worth it! Deana instantly makes you feel comfortable and goes over every single detail. She made sure I was 100% ready to chop off my 20 inches of hair and explained all the things she was doing to it. She also recommends changes that she thinks will work better and comes up with the most beautiful hair colors to make you look incredible. And the end result is always stunning and gorgeous! She is an amazing hair magician, and I'm so grateful she took me on as a client. I recently saw Deana for the first time since COVID for a very overdue cut. During the worst of the pandemic, she always was incredibly understanding when I'd reschedule (I somehow had the habit of booking during spikes), and made sure I was comfortable when finally going back in. She recommended I go a little shorter and darker than I originally was planning - and I'm so glad I listened. She spot on matched the inspiration picture I brought in. My hair looks AMAZING and the frumpiness I've been feeling over the past year is gone. It's crazy to think how much a haircut can change your mindset. Deana, you are simply the BEST and I can't thank you enough for your years of hair magic!

She spent a lot of time during the consultation and really listened to what I wanted. I'd had very long hair for over 10 years, and she suggested going to a medium length. It was a big change, but I felt like I could trust her, and I'm so happy I did. She also recommended partial highlights instead of a full balayage, and I'm so glad she did. It gave me the look I wanted, took less time, and turned out beautiful. (Before & after photos attached!) The salon itself is modern, upscale, and in a great spot at Kierland Commons. Overall, such a great experience, and already booked my next appointment

DO NOT GO HERE. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID…read more I don't normally leave reviews but I felt like I had to for this one. I came in to get highlights in my hair, expecting one of the professionals to help me out. After I get there, some random dude comes out who barely speaks English. Barely asks me questions about what I want, and barely talks about what he is going to do starts to do the cap thing on my head. He was extremely rough using the tool, stabbing my head very hard. After he finishes he finishes dying my hair, charges me $300 then when I ask how to maintain it he responds "I trust you will make the right decisions"... like no I know nothing about this, this was my first time. Then a couple hours later, when it drys, I look at it and it looks TERRIBLE. The sides of my head looked like I had cheetah print and the top was VERY orange. After I realize. I go back in a couple days later. After having to take time off of work because of how bad it looked and how anxious it made me. They agreed that it looked terrible and they told me that they would fix it free of charge.... They schedule me for the next day and I come in, then as they start they say "btw we are going to charge you $150 for this". They said this AFTER they started and told me they'd fix it for free. Then I asked why it wasn't free anymore and they ignored the question and walked away. When I went to the register they gave me a product to buy and told me I had to pay and when I asked why it wasn't free anymore again, they said because a different person fixed it. Which made no sense because they scheduled me with her and said it would be free to fix. Again, normally I don't leave reviews. Look at my profile for proof. This was such an incredibly terrible experience, save your money and your mental health and go somewhere else.
