I came to have a gum graft surgery done late last year - 2023 on one of my upper back teeth which failed. The graft shifted upwards and was not successful. I don't think the reason for why the gum graft surgery failed was well understood. Dr. Lipson mentioned that sometimes it just happens. He was at least willing to re-do the surgery at no additional cost. So I had a second Gum graft surgery early 2024. Unfortunately, this also failed as after a few weeks the graft started to slough off. Dr. Lipson and his staff are very professional, I just didn't get the result I was hoping for. I basically ended up suffering for a total of about three months after two surgeries for no reason. Ultimately, Dr. Lipson thought that my pain tolerance was high so I subconsciously chewed on the side of the graft. Hence why it failed. But again, I don't think the reason for why the graft failed was well understood. I felt as though I tried my best to follow all post op instructions the first time, and I was extra careful especially after the second surgery. I ended up getting a second opinion, and another periodontist felt as though there wasn't much of an attachment site for a graft to be possible. So they were recommending two surgeries, one to form a horizontal attachment site and then place a graft on top of the attachment. Since it was two surgeries the fees were astronomical.. So I'm still left with figuring out how I'm going to get my issues fixed. Just want to put it out there, you can try it for yourself but it may not be successful. read more

Dr. Lipson (David) did four gum grafts for me over the course of a couple years. He and his staff were extremely competent and made me feel at ease every time. Dr. Lipson is caring and responds immediately to any issue. I was prone to some gum issues due to my genetics and the structure of my teeth and he worked with my dentist to create a plan. In one case his solution was pure genius - he had my dentist build up my tooth with a little extra material and this had the amazing effect of making the gum "grow" down to the tooth and fill a small gap. This was aesthetic, but important to me, and Lipson's empathy and focus on fixing it for me was so impressive. Everyone at Dr. Lipson's office has been there a very long time. They work as a team and you feel well taken care of. Dr. Lipson and his team are really exceptional and if I ever need this sort of work again, I would certainly return. read more

I wanted to share my experience with Dr Lipson so that others could avoid his services if at all possible. My dentist recommended him for a gum graft and unfortunately, I didn't check into alternative providers. David Lipson was not only extremely unprofessional and inappropriate, he completely missed the fact that he fitted my temporary guard wrong and it was causing ongoing bleeding and extreme pain. During and after my procedure, he kept telling me that I wouldn't remember any of it. So I guess that's why he spent the entire time talking with his young nurse about the various escapades he'd had the last week at bars. He talked about making out with a woman at a bar and then not going home with her. I was sitting there with my mouth open and nothing to do except listen. It was unbelievable. What was worse was that he fitted me with a guard for the roof of my mouth that totally dug into my mouth and caused me such severe pain and bleeding that I could not believe how painful the procedure was. He kept saying that pain is normal and he couldn't find the source of the bleeding. FInally after 2-3 days of this he figured it out and reshaped the guard. It was awful. I kept thinking to myself maybe his dad is the experienced one and David is just sponging off his good reputation. I'll never go back there and I'd suggest you avoid him too! read more

Dr. Lipson is my periodontist. He has put in a dental implant & connective tissue graft. Although I don't recommend having these kinds of procedures done unless necessary (it does really hurt), but if anyone ever has a misfortune of having to go through it Dr. Lipson is the person to go to. I like Dr. Lipson a lot. I have had periodontists in NY, NJ, Boston and the Bay Area. He's young, energetic, and spends time with his patients to explain options and alternatives. The reason why young and energetic are important characteristics is because periodontics seems to be an early science. There are few cures out there, much more knowledge about maintenance. So as new discoveries are made, it is important to have a periodontist who is not set in his/her ways and is open to new treatments. Dr. Lipson is that... He also just treated me for a resorption issue (yeah, had to read about it...) The procedure went quickly, painlessly and without complication. Everything he said I would experience, I did. I had gum issue and went to a different Periodontist and was quoted a ridiculous amount of money that I could not afford to get my teeth fixed. I was so, so happy to meet with Dr. Lipson and his staff. Everyone is so nice and the atmosphere there is very warming and welcoming. I immediately felt comfortable the minute I walked in that office. After four treatments with Dr. Lipson, my gum issue was completely gone, and I was able to save my teeth. Extreme pain started at night. My regular dentist was right, I had a cracked tooth. My dad referred me to Dr. Lipson, who he, 87, had had a ton of work done with. I called just before noon, and had the tooth out before 3 with minimal pain. His office staff is great. He was excellent, professional and willing to explain the procedure every step of the way (something I like and find not all dentists like). While I don't recommend needing an extraction and an implant, if you do, I highly recommend Dr. Lipson. read more

My son is very uncomfortable with medical professionals and procedures in general, but Dr. Lipson made him feel at ease and helped him understand what the issue was and what was necessary for follow-up care. I was referred to Dr. Lipson by my General Dentist for a consultation. I was very impressed with his staff and how they made you feel comfortable and at ease. Dr. Lipson was GREAT! I recently had a second extraction by Dr. David Lipson and he is truly amazing at what he does. His levels of expertise, experience, and technique are such that even the anesthetic injections were painless - and those are some pretty big needles! He will carefully explain what he is doing through the entire process as well, which I found very helpful & comforting. His staff is outstanding - very patient, warm, and caring. That evening, I had no pain or discomfort whatsoever and never needed ibuprofen. Next morning, I went to my usual spin class and felt great! Few months ago I had graft done and I have to say I am very pleased with the result. The surgery is what it is...a surgery, so do not expect it to be a walk in the park, it is painful for a few days, but Dr. David Lipson prepared me for each and every step properly, provided me with proper medication and instructions to make it as easy as possible to go through the whole process. Everything healed beautifully and looks and feels normal now. Dr. Lipson was very, very nice, professional and attentive through whole process and his staff in the office is very pleasant with a great sense of humor.
