Dr. Robert's office is one of those places where you almost forget you're going to the dentist, almost. Let's get the only downside out of the way: parking is, an experience. But if you go early (which I do), it's honestly a non issue and totally manageable. Now for everything that actually matters, this place is top tier. The staff is beyond amazing. Genuinely friendly, welcoming, and just easy to talk to. No weird dentist office energy, no feeling rushed or brushed off. They take the time to answer questions, explain things clearly, and make sure you're comfortable the entire time. The facility itself is pristine, clean, modern, and really well kept. You can tell they take pride in what they do. What I appreciate most is that they're honest and efficient. They don't try to upsell or push unnecessary work, which is rare. But at the same time, they go above and beyond when it comes to customer service and care. It's that perfect balance. They're also super on top of reminders and notifications, which makes staying consistent with appointments effortless. I'll absolutely keep going every 6 months, no question and I recommend them to pretty much everyone I know. 10/10 (minus one point for parking but we forgive them). read more

After a year of regular visits and spending $13,475 at Cardinal Dental, I was left with two botched dental implants and a poorly done crown by Dr. Kalinowski, along with a failed apicoectomy performed by Dr. Roberts. Throughout that year, I endured constant pain and infections, which Dr. Kalinowski frequently dismissed as ENT problems, nerve issues, or systemic disorders--all of which were refuted by other doctors. Dr. Roberts misdiagnosed my condition as TMJ disorder and recommended Botulinum toxin injections, which would have incurred even more costs. Despite my severe pain and Dr. Kalinowski's refusal to address a loose implant cover screw, he just pushed the cover in, which caused severe pain because the soft tissue pinched between the implant cover and the implant. I eventually sought help from an ABOMS-certified surgeon. The new surgeon said that all of my problems were caused by the immediate implant, which he never performs due to the high risk of infection, as well as a loose cover screw and a poorly done apicoectomy. The new surgeon had to fix the loose implant cover screw and clean the dead tissue between the implant and cover screw, clean the other implant, extract the apicoectomized tooth, and general dentist had to replace the oversized crown that had improper anatomy. After these procedures, my issues have been resolved. While the staff initially appeared friendly, they quickly became unfriendly and defensive when I voiced my complaints. I requested a report along with the implant stickers, but I only received the implant stickers and not the report. When I requested a copy of my X-rays, I received an empty CD and had to call the next day to finally obtain my records via Google Drive. Additionally, some employees were noticeably noisy and loud, which was unsettling during surgeries. Overall, the office seems more focused on profit than on patient care. read more

I came to Dr. Roberts for a second opinion! And I AM SO THANKFUL I DID! I broke one of my molars in January and I went to go see a dentist in San Jose with my insurance. That Dentist told me he was going to have to do a deep cleaning of my gums, extract my tooth, do a foot lift, and then put a bone graft and implant in. It was going to cost 10k or something very crazy like that. I was very shocked and defeated, and my father who had a bunch of dental work done, told me to go see Dr. Roberts.. Dr. Roberts SAVED my tooth, he just did a root canal and said my gums were healthy. I was awake during the minor surgery and I was amazed, he is impeccable!!! It looks like everyone gave this dentist a great review but I had the worst experiences I've ever had with any dental office or medical office for that matter in my life. I think the worst part of it was showing up for appointments that were scheduled and being told I didn't have an appointment. The worst one happened today when I was suppose to come in for a 15 minute informational appointment regarding implants I need to have done. I just went through knee replacement surgery and it was with great effort that I managed to come in for the appointment and to be told I had no appointment was unbelievable. What's even more more unbelievable is that this is the third time it's happened! No apologies given just an attitude of me being so unimportant that I don't even need to be remembered for an appointment.whenever I came in it was as though it was the first appointment and he couldn't remember who I was. Getting the implants are very important to me. I had cancer and repeated radiation treatments which made some of my teeth loose. This procedure is more than something I just want, it's something I really need. I would never let him get anywhere near me again. Please look elsewhere for a dentist. I've met Dr. Nathan Kalinowski at Stanford Plastic/Oral/Dental and Maxillofacial Clinic, where I have been a Patient for quite some time already. I was referred to this Clinic by my Stanford ENT Doctor who suspected that my Chronic Sinusitis was very much affected by the infections and other Dental problems. Which was definitely the right direction. I am a Stanford Patient with an "extremely complicated Medical History" (words of one of my Doctors there), all of my many Doctors are at Stanford Clinics. But my "Medical Complexity" didn't scare Dr. Kalinowski. My teeth have been disintegrating for ten years now (so much for taking daily Calcium supplements) and Gary is the ONLY person I trust to not break my jaw while prying out the smashed remnants. Pragmatic, innovative, safe, reliable, flexible and a great communicator. Good arm strength for pulling out stubborn roots. Most times, he barely even breaks a sweat. That dentist's office was a zoo, with much work being done by assistants who would vocally disagree with each other over procedure. In contrast Dr. Roberts does all his own work. Last year I suffered a very unfortunate cycling accident, resulting in a significant facial injury, broken jaw and multiple lost and broken teeth. Dr Roberts was the on call dental surgeon at the time and I now realize how fortunate I was in that regard. Throughout the initial reconstructive surgery and the ongoing dental repairs Dr Roberts put me at ease and absolutely lived up to his promise that he would "have me smiling again". STAY AWAY!!!! Had a horrid experience in this office. I don't want to go into too much detail, but this is the sum of it. Had three botched root canals and one botched tooth extraction -- all done by Dr. Roberts in this office. When things started complicating with the extraction (which was done rushedly because Dr. Roberts was simultaneously doing another procedure in another room with another patient!), I called the office to schedule a post-procedure visit. I was shocked to hear them say that the first available date they had was in two weeks! I ended up with complications of bone inflammation, another surgery, and a very, very protracted recovery. Stressed, rushed, money-driven doctor, who ends up doing procedures which are beyond his domain of competence. (He recommended doing a gum surgery on one of my teeth which, luckily, I dodged -- only later my local dentist advised me there are periodontists for that, and endodontists for root canals, for that matter. These people are called SPECIALISTS for a reason.) Wish I had known a bit more about these things before shelling it out an enormous sum of money for one sad series of failures. read more

I had cracks on the 2 adjacent teeth of the lower jaw. The dentist recommended crowns or just do patches. He gave me choices regarding the material used and I chose porcelain. The day after I changed my mind and informed him I would prefer one porcelain and one metal. Two weeks later I went back to get the crowns placed and both ended up being porcelain. He did not give me any explanation. Over the weekend, a 4 year old implanted tooth of the upper jaw came loose. I went back to him and he said this occurred because the glue of the implanted tooth was not permanent. He glued it back. The implanted tooth had been good for 4 years; I suspected the problem was the new bottom crown. Chewing became very uncomfortable with the new crowns, and had a squeaking sound when I chewed. Four days later, I went back to the office to discuss the discomfort and he informed me it would take about 4 months to adjust, and he may take more x rays and do a root canal if necessary. He was impatient and rude. I was intimidated. This dentist did not spend much time to address my chewing discomfort. He said I should wait a few weeks until I came back to recheck with him. I did not get the metal crown I asked for. My crowns were still very uncomfortable. I was intimidated by this attitude. He already collected $3000 during my visits. I did not go back. Three months later I finally found another dentist who spent 40 minutes to adjust the crowns to make chewing more comfortable. The problem was gone. It has been a very unpleasant experience. read more

He sounds like he really knows what he is doing and he is able to run the entire show by himself (ie he knows how to deal with insurance companies as well fill cavities). He does have an interesting selection of music on his music system, and I can't say I agree with his waiting room decor, and sometimes he'll be in the office not wearing scrubs but wearing a jogging suit and tevas. But he gets the job done right. I went to him after another dentist kept making mistakes with my teeth. Ask him about his previous life ... he used to be in law enforcement and gives talks relating to the military. Dr. Roberts is the greatest. I had visited 5 or 6 dentists before and didn't want to go at all. Before I went to Dr. Roberts' office, I was so nervous, cause I needed a teeth removal surgery. When Dr. Roberts performed the surgery this morning, he did it very gentle and quick. I guess it took him less than 60 seconds to remove a healthy tooth. He was so skillful and effective that I felt no pain at all! Very little blood and almost no swelling after the surgery. It was a nice experience. read more

Dr Roberts is an exceptional dentist and surgeon. I first met Dr Roberts at a Stanford Cancer Symposium several years ago where he was one of the featured speakers, and a great speaker he is. My wife and I learned so much about my disease and how it affected my teeth and mouth. He really was reassuring as he explained in detail what our challenges would be and offered advice on how best to deal with my disease and my teeth. In his office I found him to be both personable and competent. He always greets my wife and I with respect and a friendly smile and salutation. My local dentist told me that because of my radiation and the subsequent loss of most of my saliva glands that my mouth was full of cavities and that it would cost $5,000 to fill them. Of course, I wanted a second opinion and sought out Dr Roberts who was already treating me. He assured me that I didn't need all that work. He just filled a few cavities and for only a few hundred dollars. Thanks, Dr Roberts! My wife and I previously lived on the Penninsula and Stanford was always our hospital of choice so when I was diagnosed with neck cancer I sought out the best doctors at Stanford. Dr Roberts is just one of this select group of specialists who care so much for their patients and save so many lives. To illustrate how much we respect and trust Dr Roberts, we travel three hours (six RT) from the Sierra Foothills just to be treated by him and his very capable team. In addition most people don't know or realize how much time and effort he donates to a variety of charities and Military and Veteran organizations. He himself is a Veteran who works on a team that is on the cutting edge of developing new technologies in treating combat injuries. He also is on the team analyzing future small arms weapons needs for our military. As for someone's comment about him going back and forth between patients... Doesn't bother me. He's just making the best of his limited time. I realize he's helping other patients. And if you've ever called the office during lunch hours don't be surprised when he answers the phone. He's always working. In conclusion, Dr Roberts is simply the BEST. He didn't get all these 5 Star ratings for nothing. He deserves and earns every one of those Stars. read more

I've been going to Dr. Roberts since 1996. He is, by far, the BEST dentist I have ever been to. I have major issues about getting numb properly. Most of the dentists I've been to before have had trouble numbing me up, as my nerves are not where they should be. He nails them every time. He is very concerned about making sure not only am I properly numb, but that I am at ease and comfortable. When I was scared about getting my first root canal (and only so far), he calmed me down. He also has gas if you need something to take the edge off if you are tense or need a little something extra. He is the only completely painless dentist I've ever met. His specialty is dental anethesiology and he has the best bedside manner of any dentist I've dealt with as well. I cannot tell you, after dealing with some bad dentists before, what a joy it is to have Dr. Roberts as my dentist. My kids go to him as well and they have no fears of going to the dentist. Hmm. One person has given Dr. Roberts the worst rating (1 star) and every single other person has rated him 5 stars (at least at this moment in time). Interesting. I almost hesitate to add another 5 star rating - I want to be able to get appointments when I need them. He has been my dentist for over 10 years. He is the most knowledgeable dentist I have ever encountered. His technical skill seems to be top notch although I have not had a root canal with him. However, he did save a molar that was very close to needing a root canal and he did it without much pain for me although he had to get very close to the nerve. He has a very up to date understand of anesthesia and he has access to the latest drugs for pain management so you don't need to end up with the same novocaine that you got 10 (or 20) years ago and then walk around with an excessively fat lip for most of the day. Instead Dr Roberts has used a more modern nerve block which for me has been more effective and with fewer side effects. He is somewhat of a renaissance man with interests well outside what you might expect of a dentist (or even an oral surgeon). Whether it is his work at Stanford or his work with the VA I wonder sometimes how he fits it all in. On top of all that he seems like a genuinely nice human being. read more
