I would highly recommend this short hike -- it isn't too difficult (though if you have reduced mobility I'd stay on the flat area which is paved rather than on the dirt path). There is ample parking nearby and the gift shop building has restrooms and exhibits among other things.

If you are from Edmonton or Calgary or visiting this awesome little attraction is totally worth the drive. With a newly renovated (2016) river tube ride coarse this place was serious fun for the whole family. Tubes are available for rent for a measly $5/day. I wouldn't even recommend bringing your own tube as so if the walls do have a bit of sharp edge and at that price not worth the risk of damaging your own tubes. There is a concession stand and a phillipino food truck on location so you don't even have to worry about packing lunch for the day. There is ample room to set up camp near the tube ride. We picked an arena shaded by trees at the bottom near the concession area. If you prefer you can also bring your own food and snacks. My one area of concern is the limited bathroom and change room on site although despite being there on an extremely busy Sunday summer day there was never to crazy a line.

When I was growing up, you were just "The Creek Park." Later, you were The Creek Park that people built their houses in. I was none too fond of that. Nor am I still none too fond of it. My dog used to go running for puddles that would gather at the base of a hill where those houses now stand. Boo. Anyway, this past weekend I was back for a visit and had occasion to revisit my old running loop. Everything's just as I remembered! The park itself is awesome. By day, it's a great place for a walk or a run. The path running through it is relatively flat, so easy for just about any age to enjoy. There are also soccer fields and baseball diamonds for people to enjoy. When I was in jr high, I used to come out to the soccer fields in the early hours before school and practice throwing a discus (it was the one track and field sport I seemed to have a natural knack for). In more recent years, the town has even added a spray park. By night, it's by far the best place within the town limits to come star gazing (or catch the Northern Lights if it's winter). Park yourself in the middle of a soccer field, lay down and look up.. wwwaaaaaaaay up. It's gorgeous! I also have memories of a family of foxes living in the park. And it's always fun to stroll along the creek in the evenings and see if you can spot any beavers swimming around. It's quite pretty, and enjoyed even more in the presence of friends or pet.

As an avid animal enthusiast (AKA Crazy Cat Lady), there is always that moral struggle between wild animals in captivity, and promoting awareness, preservation, and just simply getting to see these amazing animals up close and personal. With that said, 5 stars certainly does not imply perfection in this situation. I am not too sure how I managed to not know of this place, having spent a few summers with my aunt who worked as a year-round Kindergarten teacher in Innisfail. So when my BF mentioned that he would be interested in checking it out, I was totally up for it, and SUPER excited!! I wasn't too sure what to expect as we walked in through the main entrance. It was pretty busy as the debit/credit machines were apparently not working. Thank goodness we had cash, so we were able to pay our $20/each admission price and walk right in. There are options available to get a more intimate experience with certain animals (bears, cats, beavers). We elected not to particulate in these, as we have a very cautious appreciation for these kinds of animals (either that or I have watched one too many episodes of Fatal Attraction on Animal Planet). Nonetheless, the enclosures are set up in such a way that you can get pretty up close and personal with these animals anyway. Several enclosures had feeding machines where you could pay a loonie to have some food fall out close to the gait and watch the animals eat (the camel in particular seemed to be a big fan of this!). We had to run back to the gift shop to get change (would have been nice if they would have mentioned that when we came in, but no biggie). Many of the animals got close enough that you could touch them through the gait. For myself, this is awesome - but I would recommend that parents keep a very close eye on the little ones, since those tiny limbs can fit pretty well through the fences, and you just never know what could happen - this isn't your typically zoo where there are concrete barriers at every enclosure to prevent anyone from getting close to the animals. Several of the animals were visibly stressed out, and were pacing back in forth. We would try to admire these ones from a bit farther away to try not to bother them as much. This is pretty common, I would say for zoos/wildlife parks. After listening to the 'caretakers' speech during a big cat show, it was clear that they have a sincere passion for education and wildlife preservation. They clearly care deeply for all the animals, and seem truly dedicated to improving the welfare of these amazing creatures throughout the world. In my opinion, the experience was totally worth it, and I wouldn't hesitate for one instant to make visiting the Discovery Wildlife Park an annual tradition.

The prices are reasonable for a day out with the family that proved unique. Having gone on a rainy day and having a 6 mo old with us, we rented a golf cart... So worth it!!!! It allows you to go through all the animals a bit faster, and then go back for a second visit if you'd like. The animal shows are very informative and help put to rest some of the fables. It is just soooooo awesome how they train the Bears. We choose to have a picture taken with the massive grizzly bear. It allows one to get up close and personal. The income from the pictures help them pay for upkeep of the park. There is actually a really nice diversity of animals as well. Make sure you take some change to buy food to feed your choice of animals. If you enjoy social media, they do an awesome job staying in touch on Facebook.

Inside there are many spots to picnic as you are not allowed to bring food into the outdoor pool space but you can eat your food out in the common areas of the Centre. You can purchase food from the concession inside the Centre. We ordered the chicken strips and fries and both were agreeable for the kids. There are 2 big slides although when we went only one way open. The kids have to be a certain height to slide down alone and unfortunately my oldest was too small to go down by herself even though she wanted to go, can swim, and is the same age as her peers who were able to go down when she was not. So that is one downfall if you have younger kids like I do. The hot tub is quite large and not overly hot but still warm enough to heat you up as there can be a bit of a breeze in the outdoor areas. The pool has a lazy river, diving board, splash park, and large pools for playing. Its really a great place to spend the day. People bring in their own chairs to sit on however there are some loungers and chairs available should you not bring one for yourself. There are also life jackets available in all sizes! I found the entrance and the path to the pool to be accessible an even there was a nice slanted entry to the pool and hot tub as well! There is lots of parking on site and the service staff, lifeguards, and concession staff were all so friendly and helpful! Everyone did a great job and I would come back here and recommend to others as well if you're in the area or want to do a daytrip this is a great family fun spot.

Outside are: - Railway Gardens of flowers - G gauge operating railroad through an accurate tiny Camrose - Various train station building that housed interesting items Inside was: - 2 floors - Large amount of railroad items and history - Tea room - Gift shop - Rentable dinner space We spent about 75 minutes here and could have spent more time. This is a must see in Camrose if you have an interest in how the railroad put Camrose on the map.

This venue holds most of the major agricultural events and tradeshows I attend for this part of the…read moreprovince. There's several access points to the grounds which helps traffic flow. Lots of handicap parking and regular parking. It's a rare day if I have to search for a good option for parking, loading and/or unloading. Typically conferences with tradeshows are held at the various hotels within Red Deer, which makes sense as a lot of them stretch 3-4 days and that makes it easy for those attending to be present at an early start to late at night. It's the bigger events and massive tradeshows like Agri-Trade that really can fill these pavilions. I didn't make it for the 1st CFR held here but I heard it was great from an audience perspective. The huge pavilions have doors big enough to get combines through and I've seen many working horse and cattle shows here. As an exhibitor, we rarely deal with Westerner Park staff but the security, cleaning staff and gate admission people seem really nice to deal with. Lighting is a hit or miss depending on where you're located and what event it is for. If you're a booth in centrium or some of the older pavilions, expect to bring beyond normal lighting expectations for your booth. If you're in prairie or parkland or whatever the newest pavilion is called, those are well lit. Bathrooms are available all over the site and I especially appreciate the large handicap/non-gender ones in the centrium (just happens to be where my booth is located this year so yay for me!). Depending on the event, there's various eating options. Most are the expected hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken fingers. However during Agri-Trade there is also a buffet offered in the frontier room upstairs (half way across the massive tradeshow) that is worth the average cost if you can make it that far. Personally, I'd recommend to pack snacks (especially if you've got eating restrictions) and refillable water bottle and then buy as needed. I say this with upmost honesty as all food kiosks charge $4 for tea, coffee, hot chocolate and I even believe I saw water listed for that cost. That is a bit too much to pay on my very modest lunch budget. However at agricultural events, there's usually booth giving hot beverages or water away if you stop and talk to them. Lastly I should share the big tip I tell all booth attendees that work with me - wear good footwear and arrive in multiple layers to accommodate the cooler temps if there's animals, the far walks for access to the full event (as in the past there were tents that connected buildings) and for utilizing outside for a short cut to get back to your booth quickly.
