You know, we never liked seasonal campsites. We thought if you have a fifth wheel, it's meant to be…read moretowed. While that is true to a certain extent, but you'll find that that camper only gets towed somewhere a couple times a year and let's face it, gas is expensive. Then, consider storage fees if you can't keep your camper at your home. So here's the deal. Seasonal sites are sorta where it's at. They are a convenient distance from major Alberta centres. You can buzz down and have a relaxing weekend. You actually use your camper more than once or twice a year, which is a good thing because those things aren't cheap. And it's like a small community. You know your neighbours, they become your friends and your kids have a shangri-la of things to do and summer friends to hang out with. Starting to sound good? That brings us to Green Acres. This place is a members only site, so you can't just mosey on in and expect to join in on the fun. Well, you can, sort of, but you gotta know a member. But it's worth it. Firstly, the place is immaculate. Well manicured and well kept. The people there are so nice. Didn't bring food? That's ok, Lucy's has you covered with a full service restaurant. Need stuff to do? Great! Pick up the newsletter to hear about the camper walk & shop, dances on long weekends or the camper crawl. Or, just head down to Lucy's for a swim in the salt water pool, video games and pool tables. Oh yeah, and the book exchange. Go down to the lake and wade in the water or send the kids to one of three playgrounds. Oh, you'll never be bored! Maybe consider unplugging yourself from social media or Yelp (sorry, Yelp) because the reception in the valley is pretty weak and sometimes non-existent. However, cell service is ok. But who needs that when you are relaxing, right? Yep, love it there hanging with old friends and meeting new. Definitely a must go if a seasonal camping site is your thing.

Green Acres - Lake does have an algae issue. However, they do clean the beach several times a week.

We have been coming here for 5-6 years and keep coming back (back in the day they used to have…read morehorse drawn wagon rides). Been in group sites, double sites and single power & no power sites. It is such a fantastic place for families with kids and we come out at least twice a year. And we keep bringing new families and friends with us who leave loving it as much as we do. There are many things to do for all ages at this campground. The Merry Go Round is .25cents per ride, the Train Ride $1, wagon rides, Arcades, horseshoe pits, entertainment and crafts + a smallish farmers market. They have indoor mini golf, playgrounds all over, boat rentals & an ice cream shop at the beach, go cart rentals...the list goes on and on. The beach (Buffalo Lake) is decent and you can walk out quite a ways safely (on Saturday's they have sand castle competitions). July & September long weekend they do fire works on the beach. Grandma's Kitchen puts out some good grub and is also a store for necessities you may require. And they even have a special (separate) coffee shop! There are cabin rentals if you are not a camper and even a motel on site. This place is family run, clean and well taken care of. And it appears they are always trying new things to improve and help entertain families (ie: glitter tattoo artists were there last year/this year as well as last July they had Sumo Wrestling Suits available). Great place...but book early as it fills quickly. We are headed back there in 3 days for our final camping trip of the year.

This was fun. Whole family had a site near the beach with multiple families that we are friends…read morewith at multiple nearby sites. Very relaxing and fun. A place where parents can have alot of fun while their kids do too. Fireworks on Sept long weekend were great. Shout out to gram who was working 9am to 10pm when we arrived. Bring her a drink if you see her. Works way too hard not to be rewarded. We booked again for next year. Book in advance as they book up quickly.
