I've tried to get my TX license at this location five times and arrived at 230pm each time. They…read moresaid they were not excepting any more people. Yesterday I got there at 1pm and I got in line online. I got in the queue finally! I sat there for 30 minutes and they started to tell people coming in that they were no longer taking any more people and return on Tuesday. They are open on Monday. And they close at 5pm. I'm pretty sure our taxes goes to paying government employees. At 3pm, they finally called my number. It was a quick process from there. However they were having conversations in the open. A young man said, "what are we gong to do? Should we open it up?" The older larger women with short dark brown hair said, "no I live in San Antonio and I want to get home." The African American woman said, "no I want to get out of here before 5." It was 3pm and there were only two more people behind me. So as other people trickled in, they were forced to take them in. There were five employees standing around doing nothing as each citizen waits 2-5 hours! Taking time from their busy work life. And these lazy employees who receive a paycheck from our taxes, can't even do their job! I want the right to fire them. If I ran that department, I would fire these ladies and have the most efficient department making good use of tax payers money! I don't like to give these type of reviews no matter how unhappy I am with a business but this review was warranted. I was upset for other people being turned away and the five times I was turned away.

I am A-MAZED that it only took me about 4 minutes to renew my drivers license. As many do, I…read moreabsolutely DREAD this task and put it off until the very last minute. That all changed with my latest trip to the new DPS MEGA drivers license center! Not only was I able to hold my place in from a computer (just a few clicks and I was virtually waiting), but after I registered I immediately got a text saying my wait time was only about 5 minutes...not even enough time to drive to the physical location! With a simple text reply I was able to put myself back in queue via my phone. Once at the office, the process was smooth from beginning to end. A greeter showed me how to watch/listen for my number being called (last 4 of my cell number) and he also was helpful in finding the correct station once it was my turn. That may sound silly, but there are at least 50 manned stations working at once so I actually needed help finding #9. The representative was pleasant, worked quickly, and had me out of there in no-time. Weird to say, but this was actually an enjoyable experience! The one downfall is that you can't hold your place in line using their website on a smart phone - I had to initially register from my computer at home. After that, all is done through text until you get to the center. WAY TO GO STATE OF TEXAS & DPS!

Now that I've once again moved (this time from Houston to SA), I decided I had to just get it over with. This office is currently operating by APPOINTMENT ONLY. I was able to easily schedule online back in March but the wait was a month long. Hopefully it's gotten better since then. When you arrive, you will submit to a screening (sanitize your hands, temperature taken & the guard asks a few simple questions like whether you have any symptoms or were exposed to someone with Covid recently). There are self check-in tablets available & then you'll have a seat until your number is called.
