Very nice, clean, library right in the village of lindy. Has a rather nice kids area with plenty of stuff for them to do. They have a separate toy room for toys and then plenty of puzzles, computers, and stem activities. Ideal for kids 2-8 years old. read more

The computer area is right by the front desk, and the front-desk staff does not enforce any kind of quiet rules, partially because they are the ones making half the noise. The other half - at least this past weekend - was made by a man named Gene whose lovely lady was trying to tell him to be quiet, but his ears were impervious to her words. read more

They have a great new children's playroom and a nice children's book selection. It's newly renovated and very nice looking. I wish they had more programming for very young children- my son is 20 months and there never seems to be much offered for his age group. Everything is either for babies six to eighteen months or older kids. And everything for his age group is always at 10 AM on weekdays. Great for stay at home mothers not so much for working mothers. Too bad they were closed for renovations when I was on maternity leave in late 2021- early 2022. That would have been the only time I could have taken him to those programs read more

I love libraries...Why do people complain about a place where you can explore tons of books, dvds and other media?...also, if you can't find a particular item, they can order it from a different library from the Suffolk County system...The renovation has changed many things (that I will miss) but it makes the library more welcoming to children and young adults...the staff have always been friendly and helpful...Support your local library! read more

Stupid. The whole place is basically a kid's library and a play ground for pre-teens. Very angry that my tax dollars go into this place, I used to go here all the time and now I never go. People in the library will stare at you the second you go in until you leave, and they never turn on the air conditioning. Being in there is a very uncomfortable experience. I don't support this library at all. Also be wary of google and facebook reviews. Its super cheap to hire someone off of fiverr to write great reviews and give likes through those platforms. Yelp has far more integrity and reviews cannot be so easily removed. read more

I have been using the Lindenhurst library my whole life. I always get a relaxed feeling when I enter. The staff is always super friendly and very helpful. I love the dvd selection and the large print books!! When my children were little we utilized all the wonderful programs. I have used the library for their selection of non fiction dvds for my classroom. If you can't find it at Lindy it will arrive within a couple of days. read more

My experiences here have been awful. The staff is not helpful (I actually couldn't get the attention of the staff because the three women behind the desk were chatting) and when I asked if they had an item they sent me to a different desk with no one there. Obvious lack of leadership... as someone new to the village I was concerned about the poor state of the library. read more

The staff is generally pleasant. I've caught a few that must have been having a bad day but we all have them. The new director has been doing a wonderful job trying to bring it up to date. I look forward to seeing the renovation once complete. My kids & I have loved this place for 30 years. They also have online access to books, audiobooks, movies, music & magazines. We have been part of fun events & clubs there. I hope the new place has even more to attract the kids & teens. read more

This has been my library most my life and I have to admit, they have the most impressive DVD collection. In fact, I'm pretty shocked with some of the bizarre obscurities that they have there. They also have all of the computer resources you would expect at any library. They also have programs throughout the year for patrons. My major issue is with the staff. The head librarian was totally creepy. The clerks at the library are totally sexist and only hire women for the clerk positions. I went there twice within a month for an interview for a clerk position and never got the job despite my education and extensive archiving experience. When they asked me if I felt comfortable working with women, then it all started making sense. A few days later, there was a new middle aged woman working there. Now I never feel comfortable visiting the place. read more

I've always had a pleasant experience. If I'm reading a series and they don't have one of the books, they've called and reserved it from a neighboring library. I wish they had more quiet areas, but that would require some remodeling and the people of this town don't support it. It's a shame. There are a lot of programs offered. And I don't see an issue with kids utilizing the library, even if it is a place to meet friends and do homework after school. read more

Very impressive DVD section. Blows away mostly every other library i've been to. I wish they would start carrying blu rays, though. Only real complaint is some of the staff. I watched a customer approach an employee at the front desk saying "I was told to see a librarian about--" before she was cut off by the employee who nastily replied "Well i'm not a librarian, so you should be over there" and pointed to the librarians. Aside from a select few there are some very nice employees here. read more

I walked into the library in a rush on Saturday to look for a specific movie to rent. Well I have not been in the library in a few years. I thought it looked great if not better then I remembered. I enjoyed looking at their pet that was donated in the library. Kids must love to go check that out. More importantly the women behind the counter who I asked how do I look for a certain movie went completely out of her way and came around to show me how and helped me find the movie I was looking for! I also couldn't help to see how quiet and clean the place looked. I will definitely be back soon! Just a great place to go for some quiet and reading time with no distractions ! read more

I love coming to this Librairy. The staff is very friendly and they always seem to have something that I would want. I have been coming to this Librairy since I was little and I will continue to go for the rest of my life. read more

I've been coming to this library since I was a little girl. I've honestly never had a problem unless it's the sometimes rude staff which I usually over look and try to find the things I'm looking for myself. Although my last encounter as brought me here, I had to deal with the most nasty women on the phone who was little to no help other than making me extremely angry. I barrow books from here often and unfortunately with my busy schedule I don't often read my books in the months time I am given so I always use their online system to renew my books. I am usually on time but again not perfect and was on vacation when my book was due, my fault for not renewing ahead of time. Anyway I get home and go to renew my book online and it will not let me and I see a red HOLD sign next to my book which is still in my possession. So I nicely call the library to tell them my problem the women on the other end cuts me off and tells me there's nothing they can do, so i get upset and tell her I'm not done reading my book when she tells me "well the ball is in your court either you return the book or pay the late fee" I was spoken to very rudely and basically told I have no option when in my opinion someone should not be able to hold a book that is still in my possession, I don't want to return a book I'm in the middle of reading, basically the staff should fix the way they speak to people as well as fixing their online system. read more
