They also have a good amount of adult programs and a couple of event rooms. It's a good size with a decent selection of books, dvds, and cds. Anything they don't have can be reserved from other Suffolk county libraries and send there.

We've taken the AAPR drivers Ed classes once every 3 yrs. You learn a lot bc traffic laws change and you get a deduction on your car insurance bill. I go there mainly to get my hands on new best sellers in historical fiction. But they have a good selection in every genre. If they don't have what you request, they will find it for you. I love reading almost anything. Libraries have that special smell, is it the books or the feeling of education? I'll be ordering soon (love the online action) and then stopping in to say hi and look around. And just for the record, ANYONE who bans books or destroys them is a criminal.

This person walked in and started talking (more like screaming to me) like she was making a presentation to a crowd. Small conversations or stepping outside for a chat would be a nice, logical normal thing to do. Not to mention polite thing to do.

About a library, no less…read more Currently, I'm rocking some fast wifi, plugged into a nice lamp outlet (on every table) and watching the sunset over Cold Spring Harbor. What?! Aren't libraries supposed to be damp, dusty dungeons? Not when you're dropping CSH taxes :D. Besides this room there are small meeting rooms, tutor rooms, a children's center, a porch with chairs, plenty of computers to use, and a main room that looks like an awesome lodge. There are some fatty leather chairs around this place that I would take home and put in my house. The dvd selection is large, you can download e-books to your tablet and rumor is there are some books somewhere around here. No joke, this is the best library I have ever seen. Take a second to enjoy the quiet and the view here anytime you can.

So impressed how beautiful all of our north shore community libraries are worth all the tax dollars we spend honestly. The modern, abstract, and colorful re-modeling really makes it stand out. The children's programs are amazing and I wish I knew about them when I was younger. They also have great adult programs which I highly recommend for those looking for free, inexpensive things to do with friends and family. If you are an out of district patron, you are more than welcome to check out books but you do have to go to the Customer service desk to make an out of district card that is good for a year. After you have that you can checkout most of the materials and have access to a select few programs.

Today was my third visit and the first time was a lot of HS kids, the second was very pleasant, and today was the worst!! Cellphones, dial up, and I had to ask the librarians to be quiet so I could work. Then, they had the audacity to be snippy about me in earshot. They should be embarrassed, they are a disgrace to the profession. I won't be back. There are other far nicer libraries.

The entire staff, including those recently hired, are friendly and professional in all respects. They all go out of their way to help patrons in every way possible. They make you feel welcome. I've frequented many libraries in my day and this is by far the absolute best. I highly recommend the North Babylon Public Library to all!!!
