None of the tables had any outlets so if you needed something charged then tough luck. Also, they do not have their hours updated online. I thought I could stay until 5 (like it said online). Instead, they told me it was "summer hours" and they closed at 1. I didn't have my work completed and was annoyed that I was only able to spend an hour there. Overall not a great library and there are much better ones in the area.

I've been taking my son to one of the children's programs, and he really enjoys it. My main concern is the cleanliness in the children's section. I think that area could use more attention, especially around the Lego area and the kids' toys in terms of regular cleaning and disinfecting. The carpets in the children's section also seem like they could be deep cleaned more often. Honestly, I think more frequent carpet cleaning would benefit this location and many other library branches across Long Island as well.

The negative is that the play area for toddlers is not self contained , so our toddler of course wanted to walk around the corridor and go out. There are some libraries that have a closed play areas,making it much easier to navigate. Plainview and Syosset libraries are just two that have a closed area, which is easier. The librarians at the north merrick library were very nice and helpful

Some you watch and some you make along with the host. You always get samples! If you think your library only offers books, you're so wrong. Support your libraries!

There are a lot of programs for guests of all ages, and there is a theater, game room for teens, a kids section, and an outdoor section. My only complaint would be that there are not many computers there, and that the game room exclusive computers do not let you download games. Overall, this library is very nice and I would recommend visiting it.

Only problem is the parking lot is on the other side of the street and the traffic is so bad on Hillside Avenue. Cars drive very fast on Hillside Avenue and I feel scared even when standing there to wait for the traffic light.

I came to this library for the first time for toddler open play and I thought it was great! It took…read moreplace on the 2nd floor and the area is next to a bunch of windows so you can see outside facing the library parking lot and street. A lot of natural light comes in and it's a big space for open play with a ton of toy options and a table just for coloring. The one negative is once open play is over (about an hour), they put away all the toys. I've been to other libraries where they leave the toys out for the children to play with as long as the library is open. The parking lot is very big and there were plenty of spots when I went, which was a weekday at 4:30pm. I liked how the open play was in the middle of the day as early times don't work for my family's schedule.

The play room was unorganized and the toys were run down and outdated. The book area of the kids section was nice and had some stem activities. This is my favorite and most frequented library so far for studying (and I've been to 9 different…read morelibraries this year). There are 3 floors. The 3rd floor is a designated quiet floor. And the 2nd floor, although it's not specifically a quiet floor, is usually quiet enough for me to not need headphones. Also, because there are 3 floors, I am almost always guaranteed to find a free table. There are over 30 tables throughout the library (not including cubicles). They also have a little eating area on the first floor which is great if you plan on being there for an extended period of time/during a meal time. They have some snacks you can buy there as well. You can eat non odorous snack foods in the library, but if you have a sandwich or got food delivered, you need to eat in the cafeteria area. Overall, this is my absolute favorite library. Plus all the staff has been very kind to me and super helpful. 10/10 would recommend if you need a quiet place to study for the day!

I love taking my daughter here for the programs they have for the kids. There is a play area for kids with lots of toys and a sensory toy area as well with a few toys. They have seasonal reading clubs for kids to raffle for prizes. There are also lots of programs for kids and adults to utilize. There are also museum passes available to rent. Some passes now are digital to print out and some are still physical passes. Each have different regulations of how many admissions and rules which are listed on the library website.

I love all of the opportunities that this library has for its patrons. I often use the…read morecomplimentary museum passes. Most of the passes you can print from home, but there are a few where you need to pick the pass up from the library. I especially like to use the empire pass to get free admission to beaches and state parks. The library has a good selection of video games, DVD and blue rays. I find myself using this perk less often now with streaming being more convenient, but I will occasionally borrow a series that streams from a platform that I do not subscribe to or to avoid commercials. There are programs for patrons of all ages. Summer reading programs with some incentives are for adults, teens and children. My niece has been enjoying tots at night and story time. She also loves the children's area that has a kitchen, cashier stand, doll houses, puppet theater and Lego table. The staff are kind, helpful and knowledgeable. It's great to see them when visiting.
