I think that area could use more attention, especially around the Lego area and the kids' toys in terms of regular cleaning and disinfecting. The carpets in the children's section also seem like they could be deep cleaned more often. Honestly, I think more frequent carpet cleaning would benefit this location and many other library branches across Long Island as well.

My daughter goes to the children's events here and I need to say Ms. Kunz the children's librarian…read moreis an amazing person. She does so much with the kids and treats them so well. She loves her job and the kids of valley stream which I appreciate so much. My father uses takes my daughter and we always raves about how fun the events are with Ms. Kunz. I went for myself and was so impressed. She gets all the kids involved and happy. In the summer they have the story times all around the neighborhood such as firemans field, village green, green acres mall and more. My daughter absolutely loves the Valley Stream childrens program and as a parent who couldn't afford summer camp I appreciate this program so much. It helps us keep our children busy and entertained. Ms Kunz, please keep doing the children's program because you are a blessing to Valley Stream and it's residents!

I go out of my way to come to this library. I just love it!…read more The layout is a bit wonky, with some bookshelves shelves on a partial 2nd floor, and the other shelves winding around the 1st floor. But I think it adds to the fun of being there. There are plenty of places to sit down, be it in an armchair or a desk area. There are even quiet study areas if that's where you focus the best. This library comes complete with books galore, a children's section, and even an event space. The staff are pleasant, helpful, and super polite. All of that collectively makes every visit a treat, and I'm not planning to stop those visits any time soon!

My first visit to a Long Island library. Not sure if I could register being said I am a NYC…read more(Queens) resident. This location is walking distance from my work. It's a huge branch, 2 floors building. There is a security guard by the entrance. There are special playroom for children, activity room for teens and a meeting room for adults . I have seen posted programs and activities for each level. I maybe a frequent guest here, an hour stay to browse or read is a plan. Will check again later.

The best thing the town did was move the library from it's tiny location before and build this beautiful public space. They also offer a library museum pass, which, once I found out about this nearly toppled over in excitement. Every so often they'll have raffles/giveways for local concerts and other nice community events. Staff is really friendly and the reference desk did a great job helping me find some info I was looking for. At the time of my review, 9/18 they are renovating the parking lot which is across the street. You can park in the temples parking lot in the meantime.

Only problem is the parking lot is on the other side of the street and the traffic is so bad on Hillside Avenue. Cars drive very fast on Hillside Avenue and I feel scared even when standing there to wait for the traffic light.

We've had 2 of the events and the library staff has been super nice, accommodating and resourceful. With some stellar views of the sound on the upper floors, it's a great spot to get work done. And getting my work done has been so badly a priority. I may not be a member of the library (I don't live in Port Washington) but they were still wonderful in getting me hooked up with a Lynda.com account so yay even more learning to be had! They were also nice enough to supply some light refreshments for my group which is even more great considering we're sitting and writing for long stretches of time, and even though we're in the Hagedorn room, I was unclear if that meant we could bring in food or not. As Arthur says, having fun isn't hard unless you've got a library card. The parking lot is pretty great and it's nearby some great restaurants and local shops which make a day in the area a breeze.

As I walked to the entrance I saw ample parking on the other side. Walking inside I saw so much beauty and it was very quiet in here. I say at a cubicle up stairs and there was peace and quiet. The staff is gentle. I received a gentle scolding for being on the phone. Upon leaving the library at 5 pm, I thanked the librarian for the scolding and apologized at the same time, ensuring that I my actions will not be repeated in the future. This review is short because I was focused and trying to get much of my editing done, but it looks like I may not return to Franklin square library, wait,,, I have friends at Franklin square. Oh well, ruled out!

I came in here on a whim because I was driving through the area. I typically do not like public…read morelibraries because I desire I private work area, but here there are cubicles to accommodate the scholar who thrives in solitary. So... I come for the cubicles and the clean restroom. I'll admit, some elderly members of the majority have put in that little extra effort to imply that my presence is not welcome (I had an elderly man silently but abrasively refuse to share the sidewalk, and middle aged women who look petrified if we cross paths in the restroom), but overall I find the library filled with folk who want to quietly complete tasks.

There is an eating area downstairs and local food areas are not too far away (more convenient with driving than walking). If you're planning on an all day study session, this place is good for that. First off the bathrooms are clean and secondly, the chair and table heights are appropriately spaced so that you're not slouched over. There are also plenty of outlets nearby and water fountains. There are a limited number of parking spots, which I've heard people have problems with, but I've never had an issue with getting parking.

There are a lot of programs for guests of all ages, and there is a theater, game room for teens, a kids section, and an outdoor section. My only complaint would be that there are not many computers there, and that the game room exclusive computers do not let you download games. Overall, this library is very nice and I would recommend visiting it.
