If I could give zero stars I would. I do not like writing these types of reviews but I feel people should be aware of Lincoln Heritage's business practices. DO NOT under any circumstances buy a policy from this company. They take advantage of the elderly and will scam you. My Mom was moved into a nursing home in 2019. I am now her Power of Attorney. While paying her bills I kept seeing a charge of $31.45 deducted from her bank account every month. I asked Mom about it and she told me that a sales representative signed her up for a life insurance policy. It was 5 years prior and I had no idea. Someone had come to the retirement community where she had lived at the time and convinced her to get the policy. The way the rep explained it to Mom was that the policy she was signing up for was strictly for life insurance. So that she can leave a little money to her Grandchildren. However, the sales rep was not completely honest with my mother. When I verified with the company, I was advised that this was a funeral policy only. My mother has all her funeral expenses pre paid already. It was very deceitful of the sales representative to take advantage of my Mother like that. The policy was for $2,500 of coverage. The premium was to be paid over a 30 year period!! That means she would be paying $11,322 over 30 years. For $2,500 of coverage?? The policy was written when she was 70. She would have to be 100 in order for her beneficiaries to get the maximum benefits. Lincoln Heritage targets the elderly and writes 30 year policies so beneficiaries are not able to get the full policy amount. It's disgusting how this company takes advantage of the elderly. We canceled the policy. Out of the money she paid over 5 years she was only offered $348.54 refund of the $1,887 she paid in. What a bunch of crooks! I requested the cancellation in September. They stopped taking out the monthly fee from her bank account. However, there was a form I had to fill out to receive the refund. I was not told this over the phone and the form was never mailed or emailed to me. So when I called to see where the refund was a few weeks later, I was advised that I was supposed to mail in or fax the form. They mailed out a new one which took more time. They continued to take the monthly premium from the $348.54 she was to be refunded. She received a check back of only $250.84. Also since I'm her power of attorney, I had to send proof of that too. They make you jump through hoops for you to get any money back. I can only imagine what people have to go through to get the benefits paid out to them when a loved one passes. Please do not sign up for anything with Lincoln Heritage. They are unethical and will only scam you out of money. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE to deal with! My parents purchased a set of policies to cover funeral costs upon their passing. My father passed in August, that process was easy and we were able to focus on taking care of my mom. I was a big fan!!! My mom passed about a month ago and now they're making us jump through crazy hoops to get this taken care of. It feels like I spend all my time talking to middle men/shell companies. This form has to be notarized, then this one has to be signed again, this other company is requiring this. What???? I strongly recommend you search for a place that's easy to work with. I understand why you had to review his medical records, but I feel like maybe you're customers should be told if one passes before the policy is 2 years old, that you will have to request medical records, unless the customer has a medical condition that requires a two year wait. I would give this a zero star rating but it doesn't let me. My mom was unfortunately got scammed into falling into this companies dirty tricks. Customer service was rude and didn't give much information. Long story short just received a refund for what mom had paid but ultimately this company gave my mom a bad experience before her passing. The company may be financially responsible but agents are tricky, and sneaky in their approach to sales of their policy...Very unprofessional. Plans are not explained very well, and corporate greed is seen throughout the presentation. There are better offerings for covering end-of-life expenses. This company is extra active now since there was an increase in social security payments by the government, and evidently, plans on grabbing what it can from the budget squeezed elderly. read more

I found Lincoln Heritage ton be very understanding and supportive during the passing of my loved one. When I first called to make them aware I was contacted within 30 minutes. The CRS offered her condolences and took my claim and advised me to contact them after I made funeral arrangements to make sure I got the best price. They made filing a claim easy and were very helpful with paperwork requested and handled it in a timely manner. Gave me the option to mail or deposit funds into bank account how convenient. My mother purchased a policy through Lincoln Heritage. It was very easy to file the claim. They deposited the money directly to my bank account and I was able to use the money right away to cover all her funeral expenses. My mother was ill but we were not prepared for her death. Lincoln Heritage really made it easy for us, the claim was processed within 24 hours and they even helped refer us to a mortuary. read more

My wife requested information by mail three separate times in response to their constant badgering via postal mail. She did not want a call so no number was provided nor did she ever make an application. She just wanted to see their rates and underwriting guidelines with a call , without an appointment without constant vague solicitation. Unannounced, without an appointment, without notice in a closed community with no Solicitation signs clearly posted two men from this company were on my porch. They illegally parked in my driveway and when answering the door they didn't identify themselves. When I asked what they wanted one of them said "to qualify my wife for Insurance" I told them by entering this community illegally without an appointment to qualify someone who never made an application was not only unethical but illegal. They then asked at least 4 times for her telephone number. I should have called the police for an attempted home invasion at that point but they left without incident. The company blew it off as Standard Operating Procedure(Its not) I filed two BBB complaints and both times the company never addressed the legal irresponsibility but assumed this acceptable , that she should know that because of her request for information someone would show up at our door announced without an appointment and welcome them into out home. Absolutely the worst ever experience and a warning to those who plan to deal with these people if they engage in these unethical and borderline illegal business practices on the front you can only hope that they are there for you on the back end when you will most need them. This company signed up my father for insurance that he did not need since he was already covered. He was clearly not well and unable to evaluate whether he needed it - he had a power of attorney - but an agent went to his home and signed him up for monthly deductions from his checking account. I did not find out until after his death, and they now refuse to pay any amount. read more

This company takes ADVANTAGE of the elderly. I recommended this insurance to my mother because I saw it on TV and though if on TV is got to be good. I was not informed well. SCAMS run on TV too. They were so quick to sell her the insurance that I couldn't even take part of the meeting. When I reviewed the papers, they were charging her $74 monthly automatic withdrawal for as long as she lived, BUT the payout for her at time of death will be $5,000. This is a joke. $5,000 pays nothing here in San Francisco Ca. I called them and asked: if my mother pays your insurance for 15 years @74$, she will give Lincoln $13,320.00 but Lincoln however will only pay $5,000? The answer was "YES" that indeed that was correct. This is sad. They have the heart to steal like this and make $ from the elderly. We are cancelling. They didn't even offer other programs or try to make it right. They have also made it very hard for her to cancel it. They have her on automatic withdrawal for as long as she lives to only pay $5,000 at time of death. To sell her the insurance they sent someone from the Hollister Branch (this person never returns the calls). To cancel it is being a pain with I and my mother on the phone requesting forms to cancel. Don't buy from Lincoln. Do your homework. I didn't. I trusted the add on the TV. read more

My father, my best friend passed away last month and it was unexpected, which for me was the most heartbreaking thing to have to go through. I had to go through my dads paperwork and found he had a life insurance that he left for me. I called Lincoln life insurance and spoke with a gentleman in the policy department who let me know how much it was, then I received a letter signed by the vice president Mr. Keith Perkins confirming the amount and his condolence. When I finally received my pay out in was $1035.64 less than what I was told and what was sent in a letter by the vice president. Then I received another letter confirming my final pay out of $701.08 from Lee Stoneman in the policy department and I received 601.08. When I called the company I spoke with a woman in the policy office who said both letter where incorrect, that is the craziest thing I have ever heard. I called today and spoke with Chris in policy service and he said I was not able to speak wit the Vice president, he had no voicemail or email that I could contact him on and then when I asked to speak with Beth the manager of the policy department, he tried to pass me to another woman name Christine. No one should have to deal with this. I am shocked by the whole thing and sad because now I have no idea what my father left and what type of company he was dealing with. I am shocked, upset and sadden by this whole ordeal. Who tells someone your going to receives this certain amount, send a letter to confirm the amount, and then say both letter we sent you are incorrect and we don't know whats going on. How does a company not know whats going on, why would a Vice president sign documents that are incorrect and why would the policy department also send out incorrect paper work. I truly feel something fishy is going on, and I am now trying to understand where is the rest of my dads policy and no one at this company has answers. I was going to get life insurance for me and my mom with Lincoln before this whole ordeal and now I realize this is not the company to do that with. I would not dare put my mom or any family members through this type of disaster and no one who is dealing with death especially losing a parent should have to go through this . I am still trying to get answers, and look for a new life insurance company so that I may get a policy for me and my mom, the only parent I have left. read more

My elderly mother of 93 just passed away in April. She had purchase a policy at age 73 from Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company that was clearly not fully explained to her understanding. We received a letter from Y. Keith Perkins, Senior Vice President of Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company, on May 16, 2017 stating that a check for $6,006.32 had been sent to the Funeral Home as we DID assign. However, the Funeral Home only received $3,006.32. I have just found out that the value of the policy was supposedly only $3,000 She had paid a monthly payment right at $35.00 a month for over 20 years. At the time of her death, she had paid into this policy right at $9,000. On a policy of this small amount, there should be a cap as to when a policy such as this one should be considered paid up and no further premiums are due. This is clearly a case of the elderly being taken advantage of. Also, the insurance company is now claiming that the $6,006.32 was typographical error. If you have experience a situation such as this, please contact your congressman to promote restriction laws to prevent insurance companies with these types of burial policies from taken advantage of our elderly who are on limited incomes to begin with. I'm sure my mother's intent was to provide for her funeral expenses to lessen the burden to her love ones. My family and I are outraged at how unethical burial policies such as this one are. This company made $6,000 off my elderly mother of 93. This type of profit should be illegal on these small policies and a limited percentage cap should be excised accordingly. I hope for no one to feel this kind of outrage that my family and I feel at this time of great loss in our family and the recent insight of financial advantage taken from my trusting elderly mom. read more
