Rating: 5/5 Review Body: We stumbled upon Fifth Avenue Streatery in Mount Dora today while in town for business - got hungry and looked up something local and simple, and boy, are we glad we did! This place is so unique; it looks like it used to be a gas station transformed into a cozy outdoor eatery with all seating under cover, string lights, fans, and heaters for comfort. It's got that authentic, laid-back Florida vibe with wooden decks, umbrellas, and views of the street - super charming and not stuffy at all. The menu is a great mix of unique twists and classic favorites, with plenty of options so everyone can find something. We went with build-your-own burgers and their signature Fifth Avenue burger - absolutely delicious, juicy, and flavorful! It's now my top burger pick (besides the ones my husband grills at home, of course). Everything's made from scratch, and big compliments to the chef/owner - a talented woman running the show, girl power all the way! We were there with our 7-year-old daughter, who's been to all sorts of fancy places, and she absolutely loved it - from the fun outdoor setup to her kid-sized burger. The hostesses, Hailey and Beth, were the sweetest, so friendly and welcoming, making us all feel right at home like family. Don't skip the desserts - we tried the flourless chocolate torte with fresh cream and raspberry sauce, and it was heavenly, rich but not too heavy. Overall, fresh food, great service, and a spot that's perfect for families. We'll be back next time we're in Mount Dora!

The coleslaw was not to my liking, too sweet. Other guests in the party complained about steak on salad not being cooked right, bacon on sandwich was raw. It seemed for a weekend night, they would have prepared better, it seems it was too much for the kitchen staff to handle. The cocktails were never served in their appropriate glasses, and glasses were 1/2 full. It's a shame that they have good music there, but the poor quality food and drinks, make it not worth going back.

Its hard to find a good sausage gravy. Everything we ate was well flavored. The rye bread was incredible on the reuben. The veggie omelet wasn't runny, and was loaded with fully cooked veggies. They clearly know this due to the sound buffers on the ceiling. They decor is cute and bathrooms very nice. There's not much room for a wheelchair though. The service was very quick and concise. Nice staff who made us feel appreciated. So glad we stumbled across this spot!

The restaurant was not too busy when we got there. Our friends were already seated and waiting for us. There had ordered water for the table and had their coffees. Joshua appeared shortly after we exchanged pleasantries with our group. He checked in and we ordered coffee as well. He returned with the coffee and took all our orders. Two of our friends frequent the cafe weekly so he already knew what they wanted. The rest of us were able to order. We received our food in a reasonable time. Joshua and Kim checked in periodically to make sure we didn't need anything and kept the coffee flowing. I had the Pot Roast Omelette with Home Fries and a Biscuit. It was ok. Everyone else enjoyed their food. I would recommend the cafe adding fresh fruits to the menu. By the time we got ready to leave, there was a line of people waiting to be seated. We had to sidled out the door. The cafe is quaint and popular with the locals of Mount Dora. I am open to returning and trying something else on the menu.

We had reservations, so we dined in the reserved dining room which had massive windows looking out to the beautifully landscaped area. Our server was attentive and pleasant, however, his shift must have ended and service was practically non existent halfway through our meal. To be fair though, a party of about 20 women had just wrapped up leaving one single server to clean up, rearrange the tables, and maybe even wait other table in the other dining area. After quite a wait of about 20 minutes she checked on us and we requested the dessert menu. Another long wait later we ordered dessert which came out more timely. The food was wonderful. We were told the soup of the day was tomato bisque and Italian wedding soup. My friend and I ordered a cup each and our server returned with an announcement the soup selection for today is actually minestrone. I ordered a cup and it was delicious. My friend ordered the tomato pie - sorry, out of it, then the monte cristo, sorry out, and ended up ordering the Reuben which she said was good and the seasoned fries were delicious. My Florida fresh salad with a delightful citrus vinaigrette was as delicious and indeed fresh. Desserts of cake and coffee were the perfect ending to a very nice meal. In all, service was a miss, but I don't know the story for them being short staffed. Food and atmosphere were wonderful and we'll return next time we're in town.

Our waitress, Jessica, was phenomenal--super attentive, friendly, and efficient. She was wonderful with us and I noticed her engaging warmly with the other tables too. The whole atmosphere felt friendly and genuinely jovial. We finished with the peach cobbler served warm in a skillet with vanilla ice cream, and it was exceptional. Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and more of a crumbled consistency rather than a traditional crust--which made it even better. Absolutely perfect brunch experience. We'll definitely be back!
