This is the St Moritz offshoot (although strangely not on the global web site of Nobu) of the…read moreinternationally acclaimed Nobu restaurants from Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, the inventor of a new type of Japanse food. They serve a shorter menu than many of the other Nobu restaurants but all the classic dishes like the Black Cod with Miso are there. The sushi were ok (hard to make the difference between those and the sushi from much cheaper real Japanese restaurants across Europe). But in summary it was excellent, with good fast service and in the amazing setting of the Badrutt Palace. A trip to the Palace is I guess a necessary stop in a St Moritz trip and the restaurant is located in a very pleasant room with elegant and comfortable wooden chairs. Not sure how often Nobu himself is there though The only downside is the price really so we won't do that every night!

What is noteworthy about this place during Christmas is the clientele, as this hotel is where Europe's elite converge during late December, mixed with a few middle easterners and Russians. They engage in a delightfully conspicuous gameshow of "who came out of the most expensive vagina and can prove it by how they dress", which is amazing to watch. You get the sense that the only people who "earned" their wealth in this old money crowd are the young attractive females sitting with the decrepit older well dressed men, both staring at their mobile phones for most of the meal. This place is perhaps worth it for the people watching alone!

I have to be honest, I was very skeptical to eat any sort of sushi in Milan, let alone it being all…read moreyou can eat sushi in MILAN for 20 euros (for dinner) but this place far exceeded my expectations. I'm from NYC where there are plenty of AYCE sushi places and I have to say, this definitely tops the list for me. They are mindboggingly efficient with their dishes --almost to the point where it makes you question your sanity. Like... wait, but didn't I just order that 68 seconds ago and now it's magically in front of me? A tad sketch, but I have to say everything I had was superbly fresh. Maybe they precut/prepare certain plates, but it really did not affect the overall quality of the dish. I'm a bit of a brat when it comes to eating raw fish- I will send things back if the color is off or if there's even a slight chance it seems like I'd get sick. Prices for beer and wine are also extremely reasonable. Portions are on the smaller side for the appetizers and sashimi/carpaccio, but it's AYCE so does it really even matter? Moot point. There are some items that have a red circle next to them which indicates you are only allowed to order that item one per person. But not to worry.... There's about 100 items on the menu so you won't run out of options. My favorites- - Tuna and salmon tataki - I believe it's a ponzu sauce on top with fresh scallions and ginger- super refreshing and tasty - Tuna + salmon tartare - also another refreshing item on the menu - Spicy tuna roll - I've had hundreds of spicy tuna rolls before but this one was unique-- I'm not sure what spice they use to make it spicy but it's far different than what's usually used and it was fantastic! - Dragon roll -eel and crab with avocado - Amaebi nigiri - sweet shrimp nigiri ...dope digity, really really tasty. - Salmon Gunkan and Tuna gunkan-- I've never had this before but it's basically a regular roll without using seaweed as the "outside". They use the actual fish itself. Other items ordered- - Nigiri-- 2 pieces per order-- we had all of the nigiri items: salmon, tuna, sweet shrimp, cooked shrimp, sea bass, octopus, eel. All were fantastic except for the octopus which was a bit chewy. - Salmon and Tuna carpaccio - super fresh but was not wowed by the sauce - Gyoza - Miso soup Their menu also includes hand rolls, regular rolls, other special rolls, salad, tons of other apps (including hot dishes), udon noodles, fried rice, tempura, teppanyaki--- I mean the options are endless. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other items!
