Legit, authentic Chinese food in Milan Chinatown. Like any truly classic Chinese restaurant its no frills interior, very straightforward service, and servers that basically only speak Chinese. But the food is so cheap and delicious! After a month traveling Europe, I was really craving some Asian food, so I'm glad I came here as the food really hit the spot. One thing that I thought was interesting though is that some of the dishes did have a bit of an Italian twist to it that I was not used too (coming from the states) -- in terms of the herbs that they used/sourced. Super yummy authentic chinese food! All the dishes we had were great, however the tofu was slightly over done (a bit chewy) which is why they get 4 of 5 stars. There was asolutely nothing wrong with the flavour, just the consistency unfortunately. My favorite was the wonton soup, the wonton was tasty and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. The clams and fried rice were nice too, two simple dishes. I'm suprised at how some Asian restaurants are unable to get easier dishes right but these guys just nailed it. I live in Boston, so I know how a Chinatown is supposed to be. Milan's Chinatown does not even compare to Boston's Chinatown in the least. I ventured here looking for some authentic Chinese food, but I was unable to find any appealing restaurants as I walked by them. Eventually I settled here, drawn in by the high rating on Yelp of 4.5 stars, so I imagined it to be very tasty and worth the price. I was fairly disappointed. ENTREE 1: Shumai - Average. Nothing special about them. 6.5/10 ENTREE 2: Fried Rice - Average. Your typical fried rice. 6.5/10 ENTREE 3: Chicken with cashews - Barely any chicken. Seemed like I got a side of chicken with my cashews.. 5.5/10 ENTREE 4: Bok Choi - Was a tad bit salty. Tasted average. 6/10 WORTH IT? Not really. People have been reviewing how much of a good deal this place is - generous portions for a low price. However, I didn't think this at all. Each dish is about 7 Euros, and after 4 dishes and 28 Euros later, I was not even full. *PLEASE NOTE: My low rating of this place also stems from the ridiculous amount of time that I had to wait to be served. Great food - if you look for an authentic restaurant that serves food like they do in China - go here you won't be disappointed. Doesn't look special from the outside but is busy and the real Chinese experience when you go in. Yelp helped us find this place and we would definitely go there again next time we are in Milano. read more

Wonderful place! This restaurant is run by a sweet family with dad being the cook, mom runs the restaurant and daughter helps as a waitress. The food was really good and inexpensive! I didn't have much expectation on Chinese food in Milan, but it was a nice surprise. The food tasted more like homecooked meals like how your Chinese parents would make them. Service was extremely straightforward. They waste no time getting an order. Don't expect them to read your emotions. The only thing that matters is satisfying your palate. These guys do a great job at that. The portions were just right, the price was extremely affordable almost to the point of a steal. I didn't expect having a good Chinese fix in Italy. I wanted to see what chinatown was like in milan and decided to talk a stroll here. We had the crispy duck, tofu with thousand year egg in soy sauce and fried rice. The flavor was there but nothing amazing. The duck perhaps was a bit dry my liking or maybe cause it was fried. Prices are not expensive. Owners speak mandarin. read more

Meandered here after Sforsza castle because it's in Chinatown so I was expecting authentic food. The food was good, but the ambience was strange. The owners and servers were loud and they were watching some drama on TV with lots of shouting and screaming at a high volume. All in all decent food, but not a great overall impression. read more

I REALLY don't understand why this place has great reviews. Honestly, my mind is blown... into millions of tiny little pieces of soup dumplings that ARE NOT actually soup dumplings because that's what they serve at Hua Cheng. I ordered the xiao long bao, roast duck and water. The ONLY authentic thing served was water and they could not have possibly messed that up since it was a bottle of mineral water. The xiao long bao was somewhat (that's me being generous) juicy but there was NO soup on the inside. It was basically just a sub-par dumpling that you could have gotten at a street cart. The roast duck was NOT roasted, but rather deep fried, or perhaps they reheated it so much in the oven that it seemed deep fried. Also, the roast duck was not served with rice. Please tell me what Chinese restaurant has roast duck on the menu and is not served with rice? Major face palm moment. It was the STRANGEST experience since the restaurant was fully packed and there was a line outside as well. I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND THE HYPE. Don't even get me started about the quality of the food- I was looking around at the dishes that others ordered around me and all of the sauces looked watered down and bland. Someone ordered fried rice and it literally looked like white rice gently tossed with canned peas, carrots and spam. The soup noodle portions looked big though-- that's the only plus I can think of. Do yourself a favor and do not go here. I'm a native Chinese New Yorker so without sounding too narcissistic, I know authentic Chinese food, and I can confidently say that Hua Cheng does not serve authentic Chinese food. read more

How could this place be so highly rated?! I'm Chinese but live in Canada. I know what good Chinese food means. Any Chinese restaurant in Canada is better than this one. The food I had at this place was below average. Had 2 veggie dishes and they were so plain. I cook much better food than their chefs. The veal tasted sour, which means it wasn't fresh. Also the atmosphere was terrible. I was sitting beside two other groups. I felt I was cluster phobic. Overall I hated this place. Do yourself a favor. Please do not come. read more

Noodles are amazing. fast and timely, waitress didn't speak English but a nice Italian woman translated for us and we also showed her pictures on our phones of what we wanted! My favorite chinese in Milan! Delicious, hearty portions, family venue, filled with Chinatown locals (which is always a good sign). They don't take reservations but it's definitely worth the wait. Good Chinees food for small prices. The flavours are very natural. (almost no salt or other spicy herbs, therefor only three stars) The restaurant is rather small, with just place for about 25 people. We where lucky to get a table for four. Their ravioli's (dumplings) are delicious. We ordered the grilled and round dumpling meat dumplings. Two of my friends also ordered the chicken curry and the chicken rice noodles which was also delicious. Plus the price for our ticket with 2 large beers was 27.50 euros. Get the hand drawn noodles!!! They are excellent. Deliciously flavorful and chewy. My friend and I were looking for something new after eating mostly Italian cuisine for the past week.
