Yes, there are two sides to every story, and Chris always thinks his is correct. I feel that Chris may be confusing me with someone else, as I did not have a follow up cordial conversation with him (at least not on his part). I was nothing but kind to Chris all along. Kids get sick. Chris just wanted "different" students and wanted to open up space for them. Nonetheless, my student DID in fact take a break, and then we found the most amazing piano teacher ever, right in our neighborhood. This teacher is well trained, in high demand and plays throughout the community and beyond. I am very grateful that we left Chris; otherwise, life wouldn't have brought this new excellent teacher into our lives as not only a teacher but a friend. I wish Chris nothing but the best. It's unfortunate he chose to try to twist the facts, but not surpised. Happily moved on.

The lessons started off in-person, and have evolved into virtual lessons as a result of COVID-19. This format has made lessons very easy. No commute time! When we began, Chris evaluated my current skill level and recommended I start with a first level music book to work on the fundamentals. During the lessons, Chris provides meaningful feedback, shares resources on games that can help with intervals, memorizing notes, and other fundamentals. (I am in my 30's and enjoy the games just as much, or more, than somebody younger :)) This has all strengthened my skill-set over time. Chris also asks for my feedback on songs I am interested in learning. He has taught me some key elements of improv, as well as songs from the Beatles, the Styx, John Legend and other musicians. He also responds to questions along the week. I always look forward to learning the next song, and working with Chris as he provides valuable feedback!

I played viola in my junior high school orchestra and decided to take lessons again after I retired. Finding a viola teacher proved to be more difficult than anticipated but I was very lucky to come across Chris. Not knowing how much I would remember from all those years ago, we started at the beginning and things went better than I could have imagined. Chris has been so supportive, praising when I accomplished something, constructively criticizing when necessary and challenging me to learn more difficult pieces. It is very evident that Chris loves music and loves to share her expertise with others, She teaches the concepts but it's the joy she brings to it that has made her my mentor as well as instructor. She invited me to join a chamber music orchestra, the College Park Chamber Orchestra, consisting of her students and I have enjoyed every practice and performance. Chris is a wonderful instructor for violin, viola and I think cello as well, I highly recommend her for her expertise, love of music and positive attitude in general.

My philosophy about parenting is that it all goes better if you're having your kids do things that are fun, rather than things that are not fun, so we wanted to find a fun piano teacher. I feel so fortunate that a friend recommended 1 2 3 Rock to us! Kyle has been studying piano with Johnny there for over eight years. He has become such a wonderful player, and he has loved every minute of his lessons. I have to say he wouldn't have kept it up for nearly as long if we were with a teacher who didn't have the playfulness and good "kid sense" that Johnny has.

As a parent, I could not let this opportunity go by without expressing the great experience that my daughter has had with music by taking lessons with Mr. Singer. Not only does he teach his students about music, but he also teaches them important lessons in performance etiquette and public speaking. David Singer is the perfect mentor and role model for all of his students, and it has really been a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with him and watch my child learn and grow. She wasn't playing the pieces correctly but I guess the teacher felt it was good enough so would move on to the next piece quickly. Ms. Noelle really takes the time to teach and explain the theory behind the music and has a very high standard for all her students. Her professional background is apparent in the way she teaches and attention to the details and nuances of music that makes the difference between just playing the notes and playing it how it should be played, resulting in a more refined sound. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to really learn the piano and play it masterfully.
