Considering the circumstances, I applaud Robbie for his assistance and professionalism. Now, the bad. I called multiple times and sent an email hoping to resolve this problem without having to go to their physical store location (this is why I ordered online). Unable to speak with anyone, I felt it necessary to to go to their physical location. I asked Robbie if there was some way he could compensate me for my time and trouble. He declined saying that he could not authorize any compensation. My expectation would have been a free t-shirt, or maybe a set of strings, perhaps a few guitar picks, a discount on a future purchase - a small item of nominal value to their organization to keep a customer happy. Meh, it didn't happen. Probably won't do business here again. Oh, as an aside, this store is not open Saturday or Sunday...that makes it difficult for me to make it to this location during the week with traffic and where I work. I left work early to get to their location today.

I finally called and explained my situation. The person on the phone told me to look online for something similar. They built the thing. Really, no records of what they bought? It would have been nice to provide the hole measurements at least. Fortunately, a guitar repair shop in Berkeley found an almost identical replacement, no thanks to the people who built the instrument in the first place. I guess they couldn't be bothered to help someone out with an old instrument. Not much money in it, but there's something about standing behind your instruments, even after the sale has placed money in your pocket!

Started the process of re-learning the guitar (acoustic in my case) after many years away…read more Discovered Charlie, a local teacher, and decided to give him a try. Charlie was patient, friendly, knowledgable and methodical in his approach helping me to begin to master some of the foundational basics, while also providing insights into music theory. He is a multi-talented musician who plays more than just guitar and his teaching style and pace worked well for me as an adult. The one thing I would do differently is to take 1-hour lessons from the start versus 30 minute session. That was a poor decision on my part. While my initial time learning with Charlie was fairly short due to some other commitments of mine that disputed our ongoing schedule, I learned a reasonable amount during the time we worked together and could go back again when time permits.

She is patient, calm and straight forward with the girls. They are learning not only great technique but theory as well. Although neither of them will probably go on to become professional musicians, they are getting a wonderful music education from Siliana.

She is able to push him to be his best and motivate him. This is not easy for my easily distracted talkative boy. I have kids who have been Involved in all levels of music and we have had experience with all kinds of teachers. I really like how she is very meticulous about building a good strong foundation. Technique, posture, and theory are always in the forefront of the lessons. Siliana has fun, stress free recitals and makes sure the kids have a chance to play on a grand piano. She also is a member of the Music Teachers Association which means her students have an opportunity to do the Certificate of Merit Program. I also took lessons with her for awhile. I have stopped for a bit because adulting got in the way. I can't wait to start again. She is an excellent teacher for all levels and age groups.
