Can't believe it's been a year since my first review and nothing has changed. In fact, things have only continue to be awesome. This rarely happens anymore. Spoke with Johnny at Music Freqs over a year ago about a 12 string Takamine that is near impossible to find. So today, Johnny calls and shares he secured one waiting at his shop today for me. So when I arrived, it was the model I have wanted for quite some time. Just another reason to support the independent Guitar retailers instead of the giant retailers that only care to sell the inventory they have in stock. This place is seriously cool. They have 3 different buildings. One for lessons, one for performances and a gear shop. Their guitars are unique and different than the generic models you'd find at your local Guitar center. I wouldn't come here at all. I went once and it was a very boring place. It lacked true authenticity. Never the less I wouldn't pay for expensive studio time here I rather go to the valley. Plus they will charge ridiculous prices at times for not much work. This place is lucky it is still open, I do not know how... In time I won't be surprised if they go out of business. They also are rarely ever open even though their schedule is open. Plus manager or whatever the 5'5'' little man complex dude is, he's a rude little guy. My band just recorded at rock city. We were able to get A demo with them for a very reasonable price. Max Dickinson is the recording engineer at rock city. We are blessed to have such a wonderful team of instructors here at Music Freqs. We started our daughter at 4 years of age on piano and just wanted to make it fun for her. After a little over a year she is playing many simple songs, can read notes naturally, shows off songs she learns from other friends and is progressing so well. The most difficult part of it is being a patient parent and make sure it's all about them. Stick with it and if they act up or grow disinterested take a break for a month or so. She wanted to come back and missed it which is what you want to see in sports and music. Currently we are working with Jeremy and Hector early on. Both are amazing to start with. read more

I have been coming to shows at Rock City for a few years now, and all I can say is positive things about the venue. The shows are entertaining but never too crazy and dangerous. They also have rehearsal rooms for music students and a venue to preform! A great way for beginning artist to get an idea of what performing and booking shows is all about. However, it is a non-drug/alcohol venue which may turn the wild crowd away, but that's not always a bad thing. This is one of the few places in town you can feel safe to leave your kids for a show and they will have a great time. And if you are 21, and would really like a drink before/after a show, there is a bar right next door. They also have a lot of interesting group and solo classes... including singing, piano, songwriting and a rock band workshop. If you want to pick up a new instrument, play at an open mic, or check out a local band... THIS is the place to be. read more

For what this place is it was okay. I went for a concert for one band that I really like and they were awesome! IMPENDING DOOM! :) This place is an all ages venue so they don't have alcohol which is fine but they didn't have nachos or any food to snack on... which is just them losing money. I tried to call twice the day of the show during the hours when they are open and no one answered and there was no voice mail option. There was a fight in the concert and not really security so those guys should have been kicked out but they got to stay... No other violence broke out but I really don't like those 'hardcore' dancers. By the end of the night there were little drops of blood in the urinal and around it which lets me know it's not a very good place for cleanliness. I appreciate that this place has live music, supports local bands but they need more staff and more ways to generate revenue. My last complaint the first bands playing got 20 minutes then 25 for bands that played later but the band I went to see only got 30 minutes... Usually headlining bands get 45-60 minutes so ditch the pay to play format and let the better bands get there due time! read more

No crazy $10 parking in LA, this place is located right in the middle of Camarillo, there are restaurants and a bar right next door to the venue. -For Musicians and Bands- They support all the bands that play here. They also have a lot of room for the bands to hang out and to be right next to their gear. Every band has their own room to put their gear in. They also have a professional Recording System and they can record your music and live shows, as well as film your live shows. -For a Band to play all for only $150: -They do a professional interview with you a few weeks to a month before your show, so you can promote your show, and they will post it on their website as well to help bring locals -They give you a free Pizza for your room, so bands don't have to worry about where to eat after they play -Selling 15 tickets at $10 and you have paid for the gig! Easy as that, not bad at all * 5 Stars! Because I always have a great time when I perform or go to see shows there, and they just want to help support and keep music alive! * read more

I've driven out here from LA to 2 shows. It's a cool spot- the stage is pretty big and there's an intimate sized open area. Not good for crowd surfing or stage diving tho (the floor plan isn't narrow enough). There's a really cheap bar next door which is a plus not to mention free parking! read more

I was extremely excited to see a show here and spend a nice Friday evening with some friends listening to great music. Much to my dismay, Rock City cancelled the show that night due to issues with communication with the artists, yet it appears they put in minimal effort into allowing the show to go on, or communicating in a professional manner. Their manager's interactions towards the artists that night appeared extremely unprofessional, aggressive, and threatening, which made me question the legitimacy of their claim that they had communicated effectively with the artists.The venue and the promoter need to have a more efficient line of communication, clearly. I will never recommend this location to anyone I have any respect for. read more

I rented out Rock City for my 16th birthday party and every single person there had been nothing but extremely helpful and kind. They helped set up and break down and made sure my experience there was super awesome and the best party ever!! Big shout out to all the Rock City people and all of their students. I've been to several of there events and been super impressed. Yesterday many of their students performed at the Strawberry Festival. Fantastic but most impressive were the people that work at Rock City. So devoted. Setting up all the equipment, making all the sound checks, cheering the kids on and getting the crowd involved playing drums, etc. they do such a good job at giving their students confidence in performing at each of their levels. My neighbor children went to Rock city for piano lessons. My neighbor used Heidi and loved her. The receptionist who answered the phone when I called to inquire was rather rude. When I asked if Heidi had some time for my children's lessons she abruptly said "she doesn't work here any more". That's odd because my neighbor still has Heidi has their teacher.
