When someone is sending flowers to an ill loved one at the hospital I don't expect sympathy or even any sort of emotional support. However I do not expect to be given such a hard time to order flowers. I called the hospital they confirmed they accept deliveries from this very florist DAILY. She insisted they only take flowers on certain days = WRONG. And also insisted the flowers on Lily's web page did not come in a green vase, what I was seeing was green stems in a clear vase = WRONG (see picture). I hope I never have to send flowers to the hospital again, but if I do I will not be through Lily's. read more

I needed flowers in the Ann Arbor area and called Lily's Garden after another florist (a bit too far away) recommended Lily's. Harriet was super helpful, and I'm excited to see what she comes up with. I'm sending an Ikebana with local flowers to the nurses station at University Hospital because they've been so wonderful to me. Harriet said that she has some really nice locally grown dahlias and zinnias other things that will last pretty well, because I know that everyone here is at a dead run, they probably don't have space for something huge or needy. My husband has been using Lily's Garden since 2005. Their arrangements and quality are so impressive, my office mates take the Lily's business cards to give them to their husbands to order from there, for them. Simply arrangements, to modern, to impressive - "make it so big she can't see her monitors" - they don't disappoint. The roses last a long time with proper tending. Two occasions ago, they lasted almost two weeks. It was amazing. Lily's Garden is in a brightly painted shop on Detroit Street, right next to Zingerman's deli. tiny place, but you would only visit for pickups. I have been there twice. Today was to ask for a vase box to get my latest arrangement home in my car. In and out, no problem. Highly recommended. read more

I ordered my best friend's Birthday flowers through Lily's online ordering 3 days in advance and was disappointed that the flowers were delivered after 5pm on the delivery date after my best friend already left her job for the day. You should probably ask on your order form if there is a timeframe that would work best for delivery to avoid disappointment. I will be using other flower shops in the future. If you see that the delivery address is a business common sense would tell you that you would need to be there before normal business hours. read more

I walked in to Lily's on a Friday to see if they could pull together some simple bouquets for my (very small) wedding the next day. After talking with Amanda about what I was looking for, she sent me to a local market where she had been earlier in the day. She offered to put bouquets together for me if needed and gave me her cell number so I could call her after I looked at the market. I went back in the next morning, and Harriet whipped up an inexpensive boutenniere for me on the spot that was stunning! I ended up buying a few stalks of waxflower (a cool Australian wildflower I had never heard of before) from them to fill in what I bought the night before, and even though I didn't end up spending much money there, the service was outstanding. Amanda was more concerned about my needs getting met, even if she wasn't the one to meet them. She was a great resource for this out-of-town bride. I have used Lily's Garden twice. The first time I was a walk in wanting a bouquet for a friend at the hospital (asked to have it made on the spot). Second time I called about 48hrs before a wedding that needed a few extra things. Both times the women that helped me were friendly and easy going. Arthur the Catahoula is always there relaxing and taking the time to stop and smell the roses : ) I recently purchased a reasonably priced indoor plant/flower as a welcome home gift for my Mother and she loved it! Their location in Historic Kerrytown is a quick walk for anyone visiting downtown Ann Arbor and there are a lot of great eateries around and on Saturday & Wednesday the Kerrytown Farmers Market is going on so make a day of it! I do not recommend as they have managed to make several mistakes on my order, plus they do not return phone calls as they say they will. To explain - It is our 18th anniversary of our first date, so I wanted to give my wife a single rose delivered to her work every business day for 17 days prior, then on the 18th day deliver 18 roses. I called Lily's as I had used them before with no complaints. I explained what I wanted and they stated they had to get pricing as A) it was unusual request and B) Valentine's day fell within the time frame, but they would call me back. Three days later, with no response, I contacted them. They had a price, but had forgotten to call me. I should have seen that as sign not to do business. The first week or so was delivered daily with no issues and the wife was happy. I did not tell her what the flowers were for or how long they were going to be coming, so each day was a surprise, then on the sixth or seventh day, they failed to deliver the flower. I did not know this until a day later, when I realized my wife had not mentioned receiving one. I called Lily's and asked what had happened. The female I spoke to, who said she was one of the owners, did not know, but promised to send an additional flower that day. She said she would look into it why it had not been delivered and call me back. She never called me back, so two days later, I called her. She stated they had a substitute driver who forgot to deliver it. She never apologized or gave a reason why she did not call me back. While I can understand a driver making a mistake, I was not happy that they did not contact me to tell me they had made a mistake or send the flower the next day. It was not until I called that they decided to fix their mistake. She offered to send a box of chocolates with the final delivery of 18 roses to make up for it, which I thought was adequate. The final day was yesterday. My wife was suppose to get 18 roses and a box of chocolates. What she did get was a single rose. I am patiently waiting to call the florist and either get them delivered by noon or get my money back. Either way, I will not be using them again. Update - Spoke with Harriet and she states her notes show the delivery as today. Decided not to argue, even though the anniversary is the 23rd, I guess better later than never. Still will not be using them in the future. read more

I tried to surprise my girlfriend with flowers. It doesn't say this on their website, but if no one is home, they won't leave them at the door (even if it's inside an apartment building). I didn't give them her phone number, because I wanted to surprise her. Apparently, they won't leave them because of problems with theft or heat. I would have appreciated reading this somewhere on their website; instead, my girlfriend came home to a note saying to call them. Great surprise. This would have been at least forgivable, but I just talked to someone on the phone and they 1) interrupted me constantly, telling me how long they've been in the business, and 2) did not apologize and tried to make it clear that it was all my fault. I used Lily's Garden for my wedding in August of 2010. Harriet, and the rest of Lily's Garden was wonderful. She really worked with me to keep within a MUCH lower budget than most weddings. Lily's Garden accommodated me in several aspects: They used vases that I gave them for some bouquets that I wanted professionally-done and they sold me loose flowers that we arranged ourselves to save some money. I told her more of a look that I wanted and they used what they could get to achieve that. The flowers and arrangements were SOOOOOO beautiful. The service was great!!! And, they delivered as early as they could the morning of the wedding. I highly recommend! read more
