I make it a habit to shop local rather than big online companies. My original order preference was not available because of seasonal changes (very understandable), they contacted me right away to explain the situation and proceed to design another arrangement. When the arrangement arrived at the church I cried because it was so beautiful and exceeded my expectations. I wish I had taken a picture, but I did not. Two complaints: 1) My friend loved blue and white chinoiserie and I chose this Planter in memory of her. The container was nothing like the picture. Also, I paid ($97.00) for a mixed planter with orchids and they put a single hydrangea instead. 2) When ordering online they sneak in a $9.99 'fee', in addition to the delivery charge. If you click on the tiny "i" info button it says it's an optional charge to help them pay for internet advertising! Sorry, NO... if you didn't have internet advertising you would not have received my order?!? Advertising is an expense of running a business... read more

Bakman's created beautiful custom arrangements for my sister's baby shower using some rubber ducky vases my mom and I had found on Amazon. They were so accommodating working with the materials we already had, and everyone at the party was impressed with how cute they turned out. Moreover, they were running behind at the time we were scheduled to pick them up and rather than ask us to come back, they delivered them to my mom's house an hour later. It really bothers me to have to write such a negative review. It takes a lot for me to give a poor review, so I hope that this expresses the level of disappointment I felt on my wedding day with my flowers. Our first two meetings were wonderful. After the first meeting, Brian designed a mock-up for me to review. Almost every change that I made when we reviewed the mock-up of my bouquet and centerpieces was completely ignored. We ended up creating a gorgeous centerpiece that I could not wait to have. What I received was nothing like what we agreed to. I very explicitly said I wanted VERY lightly sprayed peach hydrangeas. I ended up with orange flowers (as several guests said, not only my opinion). Much, much worse was that Brian did not bring the rose petals for my flower girl to throw. I was heartbroken when I called both his cellphone and the store several times and nobody answered. We had to pick flower petals off of the bushes outside of the venue. I emailed Brian about the incident and it has been over two weeks now with absolutely no response. I'm so sad to write that I would not encourage any bride to trust them with your flowers. Had they answered their phones and gotten my flower girl's petals to me, my rating would be 2 stars instead of 1, because my changes were so ignored and the color was exactly what I said I did not want. read more

I recently used Bakman Florist for my wedding, and won't be back. We booked the florist in January. We made very clear (we all witnessed him write it down) that the weddings colors were coral and watermelon, and that we wanted hibiscus flowers for the bouquets. We come back the week of the wedding - the florist (we spoke to the owner on both occasions) not only has no idea what colors we wanted, but had made no effort to find hibiscus flowers, either real or fake. Didn't even know we were looking for them. Come to the morning of the wedding, no sight of the flowers. TEN MINUTES before the ceremony, a guy shows up with a pitifully small bouquet, and asks me if they're OK. Are they OK? They're purple! PURPLE! And I'm wearing a coral colored dress - but ten minutes before the ceremony, what could I say? They had to be OK, I couldn't get anything else in time! Our wreaths that we'd ordered for the doors amounted to about two flowers poked into a wreath that probably came from Hobby Lobby, our altar centerpieces ended up too small to be seen unless you were actually standing at the altar, and the bouquets were a joke. And then we get to the reception hall, where for some reason none of us can explain, the flowers are AGAIN purple. With teal accents. The more I type this, the more I wonder if I didn't get someone elses flowers. Really. It's an embarrassment to both me and the florist that I paid as much as I did, and the work was as sub-par as it was. I've heard nothing but good reviews from him, but from the performance at my wedding, it's left me really wondering why. Save your money, go with someone else. read more

I received 2 bouquets of 24 roses for my birthday. One came from Bakman Florist the other came from Krogers. I was shocked when I asked my daughter which Florist she used because the bouquet was incredible. Along with the 2 dozen roses it was filled with an incredible selection of exotic greens and wrapped in tissue then celephane and ribbon. The Bakman bouquet was ok. Pink and red roses tree fern and the old fashion bakers fern that you see at every funeral! It was wrapped in celephane and a ribbon. Having been a floral designer myself I know how to care for fresh flowers so I re cut the roses and gave each bouquet their own vase with water and preservative. It has been 4 days now and the roses from Krogers have opened and look gorgeous! On the other hand, not a single rose from Bakman has opened! Instead they are all dying!!!! I know my fiancé probably paid 3x as much as the ones that came from Krogers. What a total waste of money! I could tell they were not a good quality the moment I unwrapped them. When I go to a Florist I expect the best. Unless Bakman changes suppliers I don't see how they can compete with their neighbors. read more

I was overhelmed with the customer service I received at Bakman Floral Designs. I ordered corsages for a daddy daughter dance, and due to bad weather, the dance got cancelled. The florist personally called every one of us and told us not to worry about the charge for the made corsages, and moved all our orders to the rescheduled date. I needed to order flowers for my cousins husbands funeral so I went online and read the reviews for the local florists. Bakman Florist was 50/50 with the good/bad whereas the other local florist was mostly bad reviews. I decided to give Bakman Florist a try and I am sure glad I did. I had gone online and picked a plant basket that I liked before I called. The gentleman that I spoke with looked that design up to make sure they could make it for me. He told me that they would have to substitute some of the plants. I said fine. I think they substituted a lot of the flowering plants but the whole basket was absolutely gorgeous! It was much more than I could have expected. I told the man that I would be writing a review for them. We have two businesses ourselves and know that the reviews, the good ones, mean a whole lot. So this is my review, what are you waiting for? Call Bakman Florist and order some flowers for your loved one or friend. It can be for an occasion or no occasion. They will make you happy. Order flowers online line with Bakman Florist because they were rated high and near the family member I was sending the flowers to. The flowers arrived and within the first day, some died. My family member called up the florist and they florist offered to send a new arrangement. Nice. However the new arrangement did not arrive on the day she was told it would. I realize things happen, a phone call would of been respectful. She called the florist and they told her she would have it the next morning. That did not happen either. She received them that afternoon and the lilies in the arrangement were looking half dead. I called Bakman florist and asked for the manager or owner and spoke to the owner. The owner was NOT helpful in resolving the problem. His sub par customer service, negative attitude and the way he talked poorly about my loved one, made me completely disappointed with this florist and warn everyone to beware. read more

We ordered flowers for my mom's viewing and funeral...when we walked in we were greeted very well and our questions were answered...we paid $700. For the spray on casket, side arrangement from grandkids and heart arrangement from great grandkids....upon arriving to funeral home I inspected flowers and was disappointed.....the next day was the funeral so on Tuesday I contacted the florist...I was put through to a man who got defensive saying it was the cold...I tried explaining that in all the arrangements the lilies had creases and or split, one was ripped in half and placed behind other flowers, he took my number said he would pull the ticket and call back.....3 days later no call....to nameplates worse the 2 side arrangements were all wilted and dead by the 3rd day....I Wii never use them and will discourage anyone who is thinking about it. read more

I ordered a funeral arrangement for members of my husband's family. I had written down all of the senders names before calling to ensure that the card would be correct. Much to my dismay when I visited the funeral home I noticed that one of the couples names was not on the card. I know that I had given all the names and had even helped spell the missing one. I called the Florist to express my disappointment and was told the manager was busy but would call me back within the hour. I waited all day and no one bothered to return my call. I ordered a funeral floral arrangement for a very close family member. I clicked the link provided by Phillips Funeral Home in South Lyon. I did this on Sunday afternoon, the day before the viewing. I was at the funeral home from 2PM until 7PM visiting with family members. I looked around several times for the flowers I had ordered and paid for. I did not see them so I asked Ross, a member of the funeral home staff, to look around. He called the florist, who did not answer. The funeral was this morning and I had to take time to send an email to inquire why my flowers were not delivered. I was told they were just "too busy" and "overwhelmed" after the holiday. Okay.....but if you cannot deliver, YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY to contact the customer at some point and let them know so other arrangements can be made with a different, more reputable florist. If having flowers for a family member means a lot to you and you need to be sure they will arrive, do not use Bekman Florist. All I got was "oh, sorry". No offer to send something. Nothing. This is inexcusable. read more
