Typically, your choices are pizza, wings, french fries, etc. but at Lily's, there are options including salads, stir fry bowls and sandwiches. Seems we found the locals diner. Lily, I'm assuming the owner, was greeted by hungry arrivals and she seemed to know quite a few of them. Staff was friendly and made timely rounds around the dining floor. Food was good, quite the variety and it appears they are substitution friendly. I couldn't figure out what to get for the kids and the waiter recommended I just go a la carte. I went with a traditional American staple - scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and buttered sour dough bread. It didn't disappoint. read more

I love Lillys café!!!! I always get good service they're friendly. We've been going there for many years. I'm there twice a week breakfast or dinner. I love their liver and onions and I love to listen to Lily I'm along saying a little bit. I'm in music love the place and Lester. He's really good with people and the other fella to. Dined in for breakfast on Friday 1/3/24, cockroach crawled on the table while eating. Manager and waiter was informed and manager seemed to brush it off like it was not a big deal. Noticed the creases and crevasses of the bench seating have so many crumbs and grime. Not fun writing a review like this but it's for the safety of others. read more

My only complaint about this place is it isn't in my home town. I stumbled upon it on my way home from Disneyland's abuse on my digestive system. This place is everything you want in a local diner, right down to it's location in an old-school bowling alley. It was full of locals that were greeted by name and lovingly fussed over, always a good sign. My over-medium eggs were perfectly executed (something you rarely experience these days), the hash browns were abundant and nicely browned, the portions were abundant, and prices were very reasonable. The staff were obviously the owners and were incredibly skilled and pleasant. Really great spot. read more

Lily's is an unassuming yet wholly charming little diner. The food is great, and the service is next level. Lily often waits on you herself, and she is a kind old soul. Her angelic voice resonates in the background as she floats through the restaurant. Every table has fresh cut flowers that are clearly placed with love and intended to be a source of peace for your enjoyment - a nice reminder to slow down and smell the flowers. I feel like this is a local "secret" tucked inside the bowling alley. We've never had to wait for seating and the staff here are really nice. They serve fresh veggies to snack on while you wait and they have THE BEST chicken fried steak in Newhall. It's on their breakfast menu served with eggs any style and choice of bread (I usually get the biscuits to mop up the extra gravy, like true biscuits and gravy), but they also have this on their dinner menu served with mashed potatoes and veggies. I also recommend their pork chops, my kiddos approve and they can be picky eaters sometimes. read more

Pretty good service with just decent food. However, they have two televisions tuned into FOX NEWS. That I just cannot stomach. I am a vet who loves America and just cannot support anyone or anything that chooses to support an organization that constantly lies and is intent on damaging America. I was a little skeptical about trying this place and I am so glad that we came here. I was never a fan of breakfast but developed a desire in omelettes. We searched yelp and found this place. My boyfriend and I came here after our failed breakfast attempt at Hampton Inn closeby where we were staying at. Upon entering, we were greeted by this older Asian lady who I think is the owner. Then we got seated right away. My boyfriend ordered MAX II while I ordered the VEGGIE OMELETTE. His order came with scrambled egg, bacon and hashbrowns. It also came with 3 short stack buttermilk pancakes. I only got to taste the pancake and I can say that it is fluffy, moist and buttermilky. My order came a choice of bread which I told him to choose since I dont eat toast usually. We chose biscuits which I just found out to be good. My veggie omelette came with spinach and mushroom but I had to tell our server that I want to add more veggies like onions and bell peppers. My food was pretty good. We will definitely be back here. And its located next to Valencia Lanes. It also has ample parking. read more

After reading other reviews and looking at the menu I decided to try Lily's Cafe. The service was fair. While my waitress come to my table shortly after I sat down, she asked if I wanted something to drink ( I asked for coffee) my coffee didn't arrive until sometime after I placed my meal order. There was no creamer on the table and despite attempts to eat their attention, I couldn't ask for creamer until my food arrived. The food was very salty. I couldn't finish my meal because it was so salty. The only thing that escaped the salt was my eggs. The food wasn't bad tasting except the excessive salt. When I was done I waited for some time but they never brought me the check. Again I tried to get their attention but they passed by my table like they were in a race. Luckily I had cash on hand and guessed what my meal cost, left the money on the table, and left. They probably received a larger gratuity than I might have left if I had the check. Needless to say I cannot recommend this place and I strongly doubt I will return. read more

3.5 Stars. After my two appointments at Kaiser today, we dropped by Lilly's Café for something to eat before heading home. Old school diner since 1985, our first time here. We ordered, Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and cole slaw for myself, while Jackie had the Grilled Trout with vegetables and mashed potatoes. A salad came along with her order, as well as garlic bread for both of us. There was a good 15-20 minute wait for our food. FRIED CHICKEN 2.5 STARS: 4 pieces; over fried and under seasoned, with some of the smallest pieces I've ever seen. Very average. GRILLED TROUT 3.5 STARS: Nicely grilled but with way too many bones. MASHED POTATOES 2.5 STARS: A mix of smooth and lumpy and a bit on the cold side. With gravy that was slightly bland. COLE SLAW 4 STARS: No real complaint here. VEGETABLES 4 STARS: Fresh. SALAD 3.5 STARS: Fresh veggies but the ranch dressing was a bit off, flavor wise. GARLIC BREAD 3.5 STARS: Only a slight hint of garlic, but tasty enough to be fairly enjoyable. Average tasting food for our first outing here, but we'll be back to try their breakfast menu. Such a wholesome environment is worthy of a second visit. read more

Lillys is a SCV stable. The food is hearty and filling. The owner is sweet and the wait staff friendly. The atmosphere is clean and she places fresh flowers on the tables and the outside dining area is beautiful. She is also a talented vocalist and sings to her guests. My fav is the Salmon salad absolutely delicious. My only issue is the crowd she caters to, conservatives. Fox News is on all the time and it's hard to ignore. Therefore people of a different bent may feel a little uncomfortable. When l asked her about she was perturbed, stating that if she plays other news she gets complaints from the other side. I did not suggest that she simply go with less controversial content so l hope she reads this review and takes heed as my friend and l stopped going because of the bombardment of information that is contrary to our viewpoint. Politics and religion are topics one tends to avoid l suggests the same be true of a restaurant as well. Finally the restaurant is very cozy but it can be a bit disorganized and a makeover to make it less cluttered would help initial impressions. Boxes at the entry way, vases haphazardly placed and a very non customer front desk needs a fresh pair of eyes in order to convey the warmth that is present. I recommend it with hesitation. There are other places to dine without as much going on but for some it's like a home away from MAGA home. I just wish us libs felt more welcomed there. read more

I asked people couple years ago what is a good diner , people told me about Lily's Cafe. We were so impressed meeting Lily. I could tell that people have been coming to her restaurant for years and the food was very good too so we continued going. We went a month ago got dinner with mashed potatoes ,they were instant I was disappointed. We went tonight I got a hot Turkey Sandwich the mashed potatoes were runny worse than the last time. My husband's salad wasn't good ,as much as I hate to say this we won't be back. I understand that food has gone up, and restaurants are cheapening the food ,but I can't continue going to a restaurant where the food is no longer any good.I'll miss seeing Lily and the atmosphere.Bye Lily's Cafe. read more

I've gotta say, sometimes you just want your breakfast to be breakfast. My eggs to be eggs and my chicken fried steak to be chicken fried steak. No bells or whistles. I got a great breakfast at a good price. Nice Asian waitress was just amazing. Sweet and fun. With Fox News on the tv and a predominantly senior crowd..... well.... draw your own conclusion.
