When my husband was a little boy he gave his mom a corsage for Mother's Day. He put it in the freezer overnight and in the morning it was a dead, black flower. she wore it anyway. She is 89 now and every year we have given her a corsage and laughed about the memory. This year we had a deviating family circumstance with one of our children and completely forgot about Mother's Day. At the last minute I remembered my mother-in-law and ran to Lillia. If getting a phone appointment with L was already annoying, then I'm sure working with this person is not going to be helpful. I felt like I had to work around her schedule. I get it we're all busy people but I'm the bride and I am just as stressful as times like this during covid-19 with all these postponements. I felt like she did not want my service due to my budget. While we spoke on the phone, she was very condescending towards me and telling me that what I want from my pinterest board is not possible due to my budget. I get it, we get inspired but there's a reason why pinterests boards are there so that you can get inspirational ideas to mimic the work and not expect the whole big bang. At one point I wanted to hang up on her because I felt like she was just dreading discussing what I want and telling me that it's going to go over my budget repeatedly. I feel like regardless of my budget, if she really wanted a service from anyone she did not need to be condescending towards me and telling me it's not going to happen from what I want. I threw out some suggestions to see if she can do this and that and repurposed some of the floral but it seems it's an issue because again it's not possible. Instead it seemed like she mocked me and told me it can only be possible to do the total opposite of what I want. Don't get me wrong, her work seems nice on instagram and all but I think my service through the phone was not welcoming or accepting. I wouldn't want to work with someone who feels their position is above me as the bride who would like and know what's best for their own wedding vision. Also before she even bothered to send the proposal, she questioned me if I wanted to see it even though it's over my budget. I told her yes I would still like to see what she has come up with. She said she will send it to me that night but she never emailed me the proposal. After much thought after a few days, I emailed her, I didn't want her service. She was not apologetic for the lack of her own words. Honestly I get it that budget may hinder both people but if you're a business and only want to seek what will benefit you only. I planned and threw a baby shower for our best friends, and had wanted to give Lilia Flower Boutique a try since they are so close to where we live and seeing their work on Instagram. Positives? Communication - they were always up for me sending pictures of my inspiration, changing order information (especially with COVID!) and being really responsive. They were all very friendly and eager to help. Negative? Up until walking into the shop to pick up my three arrangements I was loving the boutique! The boutique is super cute inside - however I feel their pricing is outrageous. I had been quoted $175/hr for a "larger" arrangement and $65 per smaller arrangement. When I walked in and they pointed out the larger arrangement, I had a pit in my stomach as I assumed it was one of the smaller ones. Don't get me wrong, the arrangements were pretty (people at the party thought they were pretty too) however when I was asked what I was charged, I had multiple people tell me I was gauged. I was told the larger arrangement would be "taller" and it was hard to tell the difference between that and the smaller ones. Super unfortunate because I was hoping to give a small business like Lilia my support but after this instance of feeling like I got taken advantage of I think I'll revert back to buying from Spruce in Edina. First off the owner stayed later to create a beautiful bouquet for my moms 50th birthday. We arrived without an appointment. She was so easy to work with and accommodating. Typically, she does events but was able to improvise with our lack of planning. My sister and I brought 2 vases and told her a price point, and style. From there she worked her magic and made exactly what I (we) envisioned but more superior. Definitely coming back for my florist needs. For those special events, she is definitely worth it. My mom said she could tell that the arrangement came from a professional, not just a generic store bouquet. My daughter in law had to return to work 10 weeks after the baby was born and I wanted to brighten her day with some flowers. My experience with Lilia was wonderful from the first "hello".
