So surprising to see Dr.Song doesn't have 5 million stars. If I could give him infinity, I would!…read moreMy daughter had a super stressful visit with another dentist that caused extreme PAIN, aniexty and potential unnecessary work. We visited Dr. Song for a second opinion, and she was immediately at ease. The whole staff had her comfort in mind, as did the incredibly well-curated, thoughtful space, which was clearly designed with patients in mind. Dr. Song made easing her worries a top priority and was sure to address those first. After examination, he offered a much less invasive option. The procedure was fast and painless. My daughter greeted me back in the waiting room swiftly and SMILING! I can't thank him enough. My teenage daughter is now his #1 fan and telling all her friends to see him! In addition to his incredible empathy, understanding, and talent, his office staff easily navigates insurance and scheduling. We can't thank him enough.

From the start speaking with Theresa who is a wonderful person to be super educated about the process, to meeting Dr. Song, I can't say enough about this practice. I'm going to have a root canal there. Not thrilled. Dr. Song was amazing and putting me at ease by talking to me about what is going to happen. So personable. Although he isn't doing it, they have somebody right in their practice who can do it. I don't have to go somewhere else, and I like that! The office is spotless. The staff, super friendly. If you don't have insurance, they have a membership plan that gives you proper dental care annually. Who does that nowadays? They do. They have all sorts of ways to put you completely at ease while in the chair. I think I'm jumping ship from my current dentist and moving to them full-time. Can't wait! I only can think of one downside. (Not a big one ) They don't accept care credit. Which is what I've used at my previous dentist because dental can be expensive even with insurance ! Hoping they rethink that situation for the future.

They don't judge you or criticize you, but offer nothing, but good advice. I started off with another dentist in my city, but was turned off by my first visit due to the fact that she handed me a list of things that we could do to my teeth with the cost totaling thousands of dollars after just examining them and to top it off I didn't even get a teeth cleaning. I took time off of work just to have a sit down conversation to discuss goals and watch videos on her iPad about new technology out there. Needless to say, that was my only visit. I am glad I found Burlington Dental. It can be a hike for me, but when you have a professional staff, amazing dental hygienist and caring dentist who actually takes the time to sit down, gets to know you, explains things to you and then ask if you have any questions, you don't mind the drive. She has now started to send a bill for a negative amount of money with a letter stating to pay the bill. HOW DO YOU PAY A NEGATIVE BALANCE?! She needs to go back to school on proper accounting.

Summary: I was referred to Dr. Shabani for a root canal by my general dentist, since I required IV…read moresedation. She decided the day of treatment, while I was under sedation, that the tooth did not need a RC and did a composite filling instead. She treated several other teeth for cavities (I only consented to ONE). It has since been determined by two dentist and an endodontist that the referring dentist had been correct about the need for a RC. Furthermore, the work she did on the tooth next to the problem one caused that to need a RC--this tooth had not been hurting me prior. I gave her several opportunities to fix the issue and while she did make a good faith effort, she failed to be able to correctly diagnosis the problem (or listen to other dentist that told her that the two teeth need RC's despite me having provided her with the full reports and signing a release for her to speak with them) Continue reading for the full timeline of events. Note that names of other dental offices have been redacted. January 18, 2023: I received the treatment plan from Dental Care of Burlington [DCB]. The total cost was $5,280. The treatment plan was for a root canal, crown, and ONE composite filling of tooth #30. January 19, 2023: I was asked to sign the treatment plans and necessary consents. Since we had not thoroughly reviewed a root canal's risks and benefits, I asked to speak with Dr. Shabani before signing the consent. Her assistant attempted to answer my questions, but I insisted on speaking to the dentist. Dentist responded to my questions about the root canal while I was being hooked up to monitors and getting an IV in my hand. I signed the consent for the root canal and the treatment plan for the root canal, crown and ONE composite filling only. I remember very little after the being administered the IV drugs. January 20, 2023: I returned to the office to have my bite adjusted it was at this time I leaned exactly what work had been performed. January 27, 2023: I woke up with an extreme toothache and called [DCB]. They could not get me in until the end of the following week. I found an emergency dentist who was able to get me in that afternoon. He took X-rays and informed me that #31 needed a RC (I did not tell him that was the orginal treatment plan)He also mentioned that filings that had completed were "very sloppy" and needed to be redone. He cited "overhang" and a good amount of decay left behind as his reasons for drawing this conclusion. End of February: I returned to my general dentist. He reconfirmed his belief that #31 needed a RC and also noted that my bite was off. March 2, 2023: I returned to [DCB] for a bite adjustment and pain, primarily in tooth #30 and #31. Dr. Shabni acknowledged in person and in her notes, that #30 needed to be re-done. She claimed that #31 was fine but thought I was irritating it with my tongue. March 16, 2023: I returned to [DCB] with increasing pain levels was was once again told it was because I was playing with the area. Dr. Shabni suggested I get them polished down under sedation. April 6, 2023: Dr. Shabani placed a sedative filling on tooth #31 to help "calm it down." This provided SOME relief, but it continued to hurt. I went to see a third dentist for another opinion. He, like the two dentists before him, stated that #31 needed a root canal and that #30 also needed one because the filling was pressing up against the nerve. April 11, 2023, I spoke with Dr. Shabani about what [3rd dentist] said, and urged her to listen to the three other doctors and do a RC. She said you would get back to me on scheduling, because we had to coordinate with [Anesthesiologist] . She also suggested putting a medicated filling on tooth #30 to help calm it down, which I initially agreed to. On April 12, 2023, I informed Dr. Shabni I no longer wanted to do the sedative filling and wanted just to treat the tooth when we could get time on [Anesthesiologist] schedule. She claimed we needed to do the sedative filling to isolate which tooth was causing me the problem (I was later informed that messing with a tooth that needs a RC is a bad idea). After some dispute about how much of the RC bill I would be responsible for, she expressed her annoyance that I "keep going to other dentist" and "don't trust her". I expressed that my weariness is because she did a lot of work without consent and I've been in pain since January. She told me to go to another dentist and she'd refund me the entire amount of my procedure "because it's just not worth it at this point". As of now, I have not received the refund or communication about when I can expect to receive it. I also have not received my entire chart despite having asked for it repeatedly (even before April 12). DCB is also not giving me the necessary paperwork needed to work with the [Anesthesiologist] to find another dentist. For all of these reasons, I cannot recommend Dental Care of Burlington.
