I nice little restaurant nearby K in Lautern mall, served by a husband and wife duo. The service was very friendly and I'm very impressed by their range in language (German/English/Vietnamese). I was able to just speak in Vietnamese since I didn't prepare for German on his business trip and seemed like they enjoyed the exchange since we chatted more. Their establishment had multiple menus from German-English to even a Vietnamese-German which the wife cheerfully gave to me, I was more than happy to use. The food was served quickly and presentation was nice, from the dish ware to the food arrangement. The little shop was comfortable to sit in as well with a mixture of booth and chairs, with a nice bathroom available to guests. I ordered the Com Tam Xuon Cha Trung (broken rice with boneless pork chop and wood ear mushroom/glass noodle egg meatloaf) and a hot jasmine tea. The portion was perfect for lunch after a full day of exploring Kaiserslautern and priced fair for Vietnamese specialty in Germany. For the food itself, which is the reason I'm setting at 4 stars is due to a bit of different flavor profile I'm used to as a Vietnamese. The pork chop is closer to a schnitzel than a lemongrass fish sauce tenderized pork, the rice was done right with scallion oil, but the nuoc cham (spiced fish sauce) or do chua (pickled vegetable) side sauce/dish was really strange to me. Probably catered to German tastes, but the thick sweet pickled carrot sauce was definitely really a new experience that didn't pair well with the dish because it was extremely syrupy and sweet. Think Thai sweet chili sauce but without the chili component or that orange sauce that comes with duck but with no orange. Still after the lunch, I was well satisfied with my food choice and do recommend this spot to try for Vietnamese dishes if you'd like to explore the cuisine or for my situation - I needed some comfort familiar foods to what I eat back in Los Angeles. They do prepare a lot of take out orders and it looks like a really popular spot with the locals, do note though for anyone visiting that it's a cash only business. read more

A nice, quiet restaurant. I ordered a mango juice & crispy chicken with fried rice with eggs and vegetables. The service was fast and friendly, the food was fresh and hot. I gave it a 4/5 because the fried rice could use a little more flavor. I added the sweet and sour sauce (that came with the chicken) to it and that made it perfect. I will visit again! read more

If you want a quick and decently priced Vietnamese food fix, Lila's is the way to go. It's a small little shop but the flavors are packed in their foods. I have ordered the pho ga (chicken pho) and it had a great portion of chicken pieces as well as a proportional amount of noodles. The staff is very friendly. A friend of mine ordered the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese crepe) and it reminded me of an omelette with bean sprouts and other veggies. It was huge!!! The flavors were certainly there and the smell filled the room. They have specials every weekend or so where they have different Vietnamese foods (banh mi, desserts, etc) that they sell only for a couple days. I am excited to try the banh mi! read more

A lovely find in Kaiserslautern! A great lunch spot with super fast service and fresh food. I was so incredibly pleased to stumble into this spot while on a lunch and shopping date with one of my girlfriends. The udon is delicious, with lovely noodles and broth that is perfect for a cold winter day. The menu has a nice variety as made it hard to pick the perfect thing. We just found this place on Yelp and its walking distance from K in Lautern shopping center. It's a family owned place and the owner speaks really good English. We got to try the pho and banh canh and both dishes were delicious! We also ordered yummy banh mi sandwiches to go. I love their coconut milk dessert. I seriously want to go back and try everything else on the menu! Can't go wrong with the prices. They do not take credit cards so be sure to bring Euros. read more

This is a great little place. Food was fresh and service was friendly. Owner speaks Vietnamese, German and English. Very clean with bathrooms. It only seats 28 but you can take it to go. We brought our kids for dinner and they do have highchairs available. Cash only with average dinner price around 10€. Sushi is offered, too. read more

I was craving pho on a rainy day so we came here based on the reviews. I tried the beef pho and sadly, I was disappointed. The broth was bland with no real flavor. I added the other sauces they gave to make it taste like anything. But even then, it didn't do much. So, if you're used to the flavorful broths in the U.S., it won't taste like much here. However, the other dishes on the menu looked really good. Perhaps next time when I'm in the area, I'll try more on the menu and give a better review, hence the 2 stars.
