Little Korea in China Town. Let's just lump all the Asian restaurants in one area, I'm down for that idea. The setting is a very traditional Korean restaurant and my dining partner and I split an order of the duk bok ki (rice cakes) and jap chae. I must say that both dishes were very tasty and even though the side dishes were practically non-existent (only 2), the meal was very good. Both were full of flavor and although they weren't very big portions, they were still very satisfying. The menu has a bunch of stuff that I've never even had before so if any Koreans want to take me on a tasting of traditional dishes, I'll be ready and willing. I also got a cup of Amazing (aka green tea). I don't know what kind of tea they use but I loved it. I'd go back just for the hot cup of tea... and the food too. So far, so good I am a fan!

It's okay, nothing really special. I think there was hair in my bi bim bap.

    Yukejang. Small portion

We got yook kye jang with ALMOST NO noodles or fern and fat with some meat attached to it. The bibimbap was very small with NO meat at all. They charge for the kimchi and kimchi radish. They claim its expensive but probably bc they are one of the few korean places and they know they can. It was around 2pounds or so for a small amount of kimchi. Not really worth the price.

I've been living in London since October 2014 and yet somehow I haven't eaten in Chinatown before I went to Liko - that's short for Little Korea by the way. It was just one of those days that I had to get some Kimchi and Liko provided that. The restaurant is ok but nothing too special. The concept is a little odd being 50% Japanese and 50% Korean... Why not just focus on doing the other one well? Anyways I focused on the Korean side and got my Kimchi which was really good, nice and spicy too. I also had a nice tofu hot pot which was ok. The price was definitely very good as I payed like 15 pounds for a starter, main and a beer - so not too bad. If you want to have some Korean, I'm sure there are better places in London, but Liko is easy and relaxed and not too expensive so will probably go again one day.

Some noodle roll with hot sauce .

I say it's quite good . Tap water available . 2 can occupy a 4seater on a Saturday . They gave more appetizers for free than other restaurants . The stone pot rice is I would say proportional ~~ price is reasonable as well . And I am full. So I would give a 4 out of 5 . It's better than average .

Seafood noodle soup SOOooooo good that I finished the whole bowl! Light and healthy broth perfect adding some Korean chilli

Ever since staying at a random Korean hostel after getting stuck in Paris, i have been a big fan of Korean cuisine. Healthy and hearty servings. Tasty. No nasty MSG hangover as they seem to really respect healthier cooking methods. Little Korea is a big yes in London's Chinatown from me!

If you look really closely you may see the tiny portion of tuna & salmon in the rolls. The rice was dry & hard. Stick with Korean food items

The interior gives you a sense of being in an underground bar somewhere in Asia, and it comes complete with Pucca dolls nestled on top of the booze bottles behind the bar. There is seating both upstairs and downstairs, but given how crazy it gets, if you're planning on coming, book in advance. I've eaten here twice, and I can safely say that the food is legit! It's surprisingly authentic given the location, and the drinks aren't half-bad, either. The Bibimbap with Bulgogi Beef is one of my favorites, thus far, with the perfect ratio of rice to beef, kimchi to veggies. It's one hearty dish, so come hungry. The Signature Fried Chicken is also done to perfection, and if you've ever had Korean Fried Chicken before, you know what I'm talking about. It's not expensive, but sadly, you only get 2 pieces. Believe me, you will want more. I can also vouch for the cocktails. Being a girly drinker myself, I can't pass up a delicious fruity cocktail from people who know how to put it together well. However, they also have a great Happy Hour with some of the cheapest beer you'll find to pair perfectly with your meal. That is how they do it in Korea anyway, isn't it?

You have to pay for the banchan separately which I thought was weird but it was included in the set I got. I'm still waiting for the day the sides are free like in America but I'm not gonna hold my breath. The service was a bit slow... We got sat down immediately but took them awhile to ask us for our drink order. Also, one waitress had tripped and spilled rice on two separate occasions when we were there. Maybe it was her first day? The galbi that I'm used to having is kinda char grilled and it wasn't cooked this way. Also, I'm used to having a bone in the meat but again it was missing. The bulgogi was the same. Pretty mediocre. We started with the Kim chi sampler platter and jap chae and the rice clear soup and sukjul namul. The best out of the three is the jap chae. Full of flavor, very tasty, and cooked to perfection. The soup was bland. The free dessert consisted of a slice of orange and honeydew. There is free wifi but the password is on a laminated piece of a4 and the text is like 30pt. A bit amusing actually. I would recommend going to Tottenham court road instead of here.

K, K Place, I really wanted to like you but, in the end, you were just (O)K…read more We'd read some things about how K Place was doing an AYCE Korean BBQ option. It's so rare in London that we thought we should definitely give it a try. We made a reservation for Friday night easily and they were flexible when we were running late. When we arrived, we headed down the stairs to the basement where the restaurant was. It isn't a huge place, with seating for about 30-40. Not all of the tables have grills, but the vast majority do. We were seated near the entrance and heard another group come in for karaoke and were directed out of the restaurant, so if you're looking for dinner and karaoke all in one - K Place could be a great option! After having a look at the menu, we decided to go with Set B Buffet, which was described as 10 course buffet with unlimited meats (£28.99). They also have a Set C with unlimited meats and seafood for £33.99. Soon after ordering, the dishes started to arrive. Banchan arrived first with 4 dishes: kimchi, radish kimchi, beansprouts, and cucumbers(?!). Odd. The cucumbers weren't the usual pickled cucumbers (oijangajji) but just some slices of raw cucumber. Maybe they had just run out of their pickles for the day? But we would have preferred them not providing this super random banchan. All the banchan were OK, but a bit bland. Next came the egg roll, dakdoritang (chicken and potato spicy stew) and mackerel. Everything was fine, though the dakdoritang was a bit bland as was the egg roll. The mackerel was overcooked. The kimchi pancake was standard, not the best I've ever had but not the worst - pretty middle of the road. The steamed mussels was probably the highlight. Fresh and sweet, cooked well in their own juices and a sprinkling of green onion. We then received a platter of 9 different meats - it was easy to tell that these weren't the highest quality. Yes, I know I'm at an AYCE place but I've had great quality AYCE meat at Korean BBQ places (Looking at you, LA). Spicy pork, (fatty) chicken, pork belly, rib eye, chuck, etc. all super unmemorable and pretty bland. At least the service was good and our server came over to turn over the meats and cut them for us. They gave us a small platter of some vegetables to grill as well as lettuce to wrap the meat in. There was also a huge container of ssamjang, which I always slather into my lettuce wraps so that was a plus as well. We could have ordered more meat since we weren't stuffed but found it all just mediocre and decided that we didn't want the extra calories for such blah food. Sigh, I had high hopes but I think I'll just wait until I'm back in LA to have the real deal. Additionally, at this price point, I expected a bit more. Maybe due to it being in the City, they charge more? The hunt for good AYCE Korean BBQ in London continues.

It's on the…read moretastecard which is how I found it so you can get some money off your bill and if you select the 10 course set menu you really get enough food to be stuffed by the end. As I found out, when you go for Korean barbecue you have the actual barbecue in the middle of your table so you can cook your own meat and veggies just like you want them. But before you get to that there is an array of delicious starters and sides that are put in your table, meats, fish, seafood, vegetables, rice and soups. Once you go through most of those, you meats of choice are brought out and the barbecue is turned heated up. You can then start cooking your steaks using the special wooden cutlery and cut them up with a pair or scissors. This way you can be sure you have everything as soon as it's done and nothing gets cold. We decided to go with the set menu that offers 3 types of meat per person but if you really want to push your limits or have not eater for days there's an unlimited meat option too. If you pick that one, I salute you. Anyway, I definitely enjoyed everything I tried and look forward to going back soon. I recommend going there with a group as that would be great fun and you can order a greater variety of foods. Either way it's worth putting it in your schedule.

After looking at the windows of several Korean restaurants on Burlington Road, I settled on Me You as having the best local reviews up in the window. The atmosphere was like a local family restaurant with no rush to turn tables over. Although the waitresses didn't speak good English, I was eventually able to get the advice I was seeking on the food. It helped that the menu had a picture of every dish available. I was also impressed that the waitress taking my order gently suggested that 3 dishes might be too much for even a greedy pig like me! And she was right as the portions were big. I started with the Haemul Pajeon (Korean Seafood Pancake). This was lovely - crispy on the outside with small bits of seafood and spring onion. I also had a bowl of seafood with noodles in a spicy soup - I think it was called koppongi. I was startled to find not just a mussel in its shell but also whelks still in their shell in the soup - proves that the seafood was fresh and not frozen! The soup was spicy enough to wake up the tastebuds I'm starting to get a feel for Korean food after a few visits to Korean restaurants. Their food philosophy is the opposite to the Japanese, which rely on few flavours and ingredients but each flavour is distinct and obvious. On the other hand, Korean food is a whole melange of everything thrown together - meat, seafood, vegetables, flavourings. Even bibimbap, which is served with all the ingredients in separate piles in the bowl, must be all mixed together and coalesced before you tuck in. I enjoyed my visit here and have spotted a few dishes I would like to return and try.

Since moving to London, I had been having great difficulty finding authentic Asian cuisines (Vietnamese, Korean, Thai, etc.). After being let down at Jee Cee Neh on the same block, I decided to give You Me a try, given the favourable reviews. PROS - Very comfortable, intimate and inviting space. Greeted warmly when we stepped in and immediately had a table cleaned up for us. The menu had pictures for EACH item, making the process of deciding which item to get extremely hard because well shit, I wanted everything. My date and I finally narrowed it down to an order of the large dumplings, spicy black bean sauce with noodles and the oxtail soup. We were blown away. The "large dumplings" weren't really "dumplings" per se, but actually hot fluffy buns filled with a generous amount of yummy pork and veggie filling, served with an equally yummy (soy sauce/vinegar/hint of red pepper) dipping sauce. It was such a good deal as well for those suckers. For about £6, you get 6 large hot and fluffy buns. That alone could be a meal but that was filed under "appetizers" in their menu. The spicy black bean noodles was done perfectly, I don't know what else to say about that except the noodles were fresh and the sauce was just so freaking good. The oxtail soup was not bland, but just a sip of it will let you know they have stewed it for a long time. The soup was no instant bouillon type of nonsense. It was the real deal. The soup was served with complimentary Korean rice. Another HUGE PRO - Complimentary refills on your BAN CHAN. That's right, not only did we get more banchan (the side dishes they serve you to refresh your palate) here than at Jee Cee Neh, they immediately restocked our banchan, free of charge when we ran out. How awesome is that? That alone would make me come back to try their dishes but will everything going to fabulously, I would be crazy NOT to go back. CONS - Absolutely none. I was so pleased with the quick service, the amazing food for great prices, and the portions (above average!). Shoot, even the bathrooms were really clean. Everything was so great. POINTERS - You Me kicks Jee Cee Neh's hind quarters out of the bush ..........yup. Pictures to come!
