I had a very upsetting experience today at DC Laundromat in Waimea…read more Kauaʻi has been my home for 33 years, and I understand and respect the local culture and community. I rarely ever have conflict with anyone, which is why this experience was so shocking to me. I was helping someone do laundry and went to this laundromat because it was nearby. I had not used a laundromat in a long time and initially tried using coins, only to realize the machines required a special payment card. A kind customer explained that I needed to purchase one from the office. When I went to the office window and handed over my credit card, the employee told me they did not take cards and asked if I had cash. I said, "Oh, they don't make it easy," and handed her $2.75. At that point her tone immediately changed. She aggressively asked me, "Who are they?" and started acting hostile toward me. She then said the card cost $3, and when I politely asked what I was supposed to do with the extra quarter left on the card, the situation escalated even further. She called me "cocky," told me to stop complaining and to get out, and said to "go to ʻEleʻele and do your laundry there." She then came out of the office with very aggressive body language, yelling that this was her establishment. I repeatedly tried to stay calm and simply explained that I needed to finish loading the machine since I already had the laundry there. Later, while trying to read the posted payment rules near the office window to better understand the system, she again came outside yelling at me to leave. I was not causing any disturbance or behaving disrespectfully. I even told her I would leave and wished her a blessed day, but she continued yelling, pointing at the cameras, and threatening to call her boss. I honestly do not know what caused such an extreme reaction, but I left feeling humiliated and shaken. No customer deserves to be treated this way for simply asking how the payment system works. Unfortunately, I only managed to record the very end of the interaction after things had already escalated.

On Sunday just before the lunch hour I had to do some laundry. I headed to one of the laundromats…read morethat serves the Waianae community. I went to Sun's Laundromat at the Waianae Mall. I entered the laundromat for the first time. I wanted to see how many washers were available to use and how many were out of service. Most of the big load washers were taken and they cost up to $13.25 to wash. Small load washers cost $4.25. There were several washers out of order. I used a lot of $1.00 bills at the change machine since the wash machine only takes quarters. There are two change machines for customers who needs quarters. I also noticed the vending machine of detergents and drinks. While I was at the laundromat I ended up doing three loads on the quick wash cycle which was 17 minutes. My other three loads were half an hour since it was normal wash. I didn't get a chance to use any of the dryers since majority of them were already occupied. I think there were a couple dryers out of order as well. I ended up taking my six loads of washed clothes and blankets back home to dry. One good thing about Sun's Laundromat at the Waianae Mall is that there are a lot of parking stalls. There are stalls in front of the establishment as well as stalls next to a hill towards the bus transit center.

shitty place there is absolutely no WiFi there whatsoever no vending machines that even come close…read moreto working there is no phone number to reach anyone for help or a or anything like that for that matte...better to go to the laundromat up the ro right before Wai'anae McDonald's it's located across from aloha gas statio.
