Well in the 15 min she spent in Insomnia cookies her car got towed !!!!!!! In the entrance that she entered there is no sign WHAT SO EVER!!!!!! Honestly, getting towed might have sucked, but dealing with this company to get your car back was the actual worst part of this situation. Because I was towed on a weekend, I had to call ahead for someone to be sent to come help me out. It wasn't an issue until the person handling the call forgot to mention they were cash only, and the person that came to help me were not the same person. The man at the place was not the kindest and treated me like I was dumb because I was never told what I needed to have. Once I'd dealt with everything and had ran to the bank, I finally got my car back and the worker was like "I'm sorry about this, have a nice day" after making me pay $300 in cash for this. My daughter's car broke down on a Saturday morning. I was three hours away and unfamiliar with the area. She sent me her location and I called Lighthouse Towing and spoke with Chris. I gave him the general area and he was there within 20-30 minutes (very responsive on a weekend). He looked at her car and spoke with me on the phone with what he thought the problem to be. Lighthouse towing towed my vehicle while I was visiting a friend in Lawrence at his apartment. I was physically present and explained I would move the car. The lighthouse employee refused to stop continuing his towing process. After explaining to the office manager just 5 minutes after the driver left what happened the office manager showed no mercy. I explained that I had just gotten back from a friend helping me after my car ran out of gas unexpectedly, that I was currently unemployed and also a student and could not afford the $200 they required of my to drop the vehicle. All that was said was that after 15 days they will start to sell my 2014 Honda Civic. When I asked who the owner was, I was only given the first name, and not permitted to hear the second name. This company shows zero mercy to folks in my position and zero mercy to vulnerable college students. I have also learned that there are endless stories like mine of people present and willing to move vehicles. I was morally appalled by how many vehicles they went back and towed from that lot visiting friends who lived there, with some people physically present and willing to move them. I cannot imagine how much this company must make towing sometimes 5 cars from one small lot with plenty of space in it for 200 dropping fees each. All of this, even though the manager told me that "we're just trying to put food on the table". They are not struggling by any means for business and it's Christmas time. I also had my very necessary personal belongings for school in the car and they would not give them to me on top of all of this. I had my laptop, my books, my tablet - everything I need for finals in it. They did not care less. It may be legal, but the lack of concern shown for those whose cars are being towed and poor college students trying to make it by is appalling. This goes beyond "just business", when, as human beings they are not concerned about the community of college students at KU in this college town. They contribute to holding some students down in cycles of poverty when they are physically present and desire to move their vehicles, and they show no mercy but tow them away anyway. Businesses who hire this company should beware of their treatment of college students and lower income persons before they hire them to watch their lots. read more

I called for a safety complaint which should be taken seriously and the dispatcher tried to lie and say a semi almost hit them (I guess that makes it ok coming an inch from my vehicle and possibly ending my life) but in reality that did not happen. read more

My car broke down late afternoon on Christmas and I wasn't expecting to find a tow. Lighthouse answered on the 2nd ring and had a truck to me within the 45 minutes they estimated. Michael arrived, asked about my car, and had me pop the hood so he could see if he could assist and save me the cost of a tow. He told me exactly what was wrong and it had to be towed. 1st off did not expect much luck on Christmas, was pleasantly surprised by the cost of the tow and shop confirmed exactly what Michael said was wrong- belt came off as bearings out on idle pulley. My name is Catherine and I am a 29 year old elementary special education teacher and working on my Masters degree. I am also a single mother. My car was stolen from my home last week. Today KCPD called and told me that my stolen car had been recovered in a high speed chase in Lawrence Kansas and that it was being held at Lighthouse Tow. Lighthouse Tow refused to give me ANY help, or waive ANY fees. Brian, the Owner, directly said no to my pleas for help. Lighthouse Tow charged me $168 and were rude, unkind, unprofessional. I was ignored for approximately 10 minutes upon entering the business, before I was even approached by a staff member. Called to get our truck towed from local house to repair business and was quoted $50 cash or $55 for credit for F150. Driver showed up and charged us $65 for the cash tow. Called and asked what the price change was about. Since it was a F250, the price was $10 more for cash because it was a bigger truck. Okay my bad. Wait. $65 is $15 more. Was told it was $65 for credit card. We used cash. Then the person looked on the chart - Oh, I made a mistake. The chart says $65 is the cash cost for the F250. So the actual cost ended up being 23% higher than originally planned. IF you plan to use this service, I'd sure get a solid bid to tow and be willing to call someone else when the price jumps! We've used a different tow company previously and it was $50 for the same vehicle, same two locations. Won't get our business again and will advise anyone I know not to use them either. read more

I was in a wreck and my car was towed to Lighthouse. They were supposed to be transporting my vehicle so that my insurance rep can inspect it. It has now been over a week and it has still not been transported. I ended up having to get a rental car which I am paying for out of my own pocket without reimbursement. My car wouldn't start in Wal Mart's parking lot in sub-zero degree weather. I very apologetically asked their service department if they would jump it. They sent a young man out with a battery in a grocery cart and he hooked up the cables and let it sit there to no avail. I suggested we might need something with a little more power so he went and got his manager who told me unequivocally I was going to need a new starter. So my insurance company called out Lighthouse to tow me. They were there within MINUTES, (on New Year's Eve, no less), way before the estimated time. Again, I felt so bad because it was sooo cold. We both agreed he should try to jump it first, immediately my car started and off we both went. A month later, a friend needed the keys unlocked out of his locked cars. Again, quick and done.
