Tell her told me when things would be available and how to do things for me so I went on the day that the teller told me to do so with my account that I was trying to do and it wouldn't allow it so I ended up calling lighthouse credit and they basically told me I was so I told them I want surveillance I'm gonna call Better Business Bureau that they lied to me and now they're trying to manipulate me. They're just the worst kind of customer service people and I feel that they're just not understanding what people say to them they want you to understand what they say to you and that's not a good relationship with a bank. read more

If I could give this credit union zero stars I would. I have had constant trouble with direct deposit and the account number being different somehow every time I receive it. Of course, they refuse to give it to in-app so you have to call. It makes everything much more difficult getting a job set up because not many do paper checks. I think they need to reevaluate. I actually like all the tellers in my branch and every branch I've been in. The problem with this place is headquarters, thats where nothing happens. The reason I gave 1 star is because online banking works 5 percent of the time. Online banking in today's world is a must. Phone system is so sooooo bad and the employees who answer the phone transfer you to the automated voice messaging system even though they know it doesn't for over a year now. They will lie and say its fixed but it has NEVER worked properly the few years I have been a member. They make it a nightmare to pay your loan online so you're forced to try and pay over the phone which is also a nightmare. As soon as you get transferred before you can even punch in 2 numbers of your membership ID it locks you out of your account, you're then transferred back to the employee who does what the automated voice message was supposed to do for you. The most atrocious display of "customer service" I have ever encountered. A Credit Union is supposed to be for the people and help the people. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON EXISTENT HERE - the branch manager has made ZERO efforts to rectify any part of the situation, which I have no words for - I manage/run a multi-million dollar restaurant - happy or not, I HANDLE LISTEN TO CUSTOMERS, ACCEPT FIRES AND PUT THEM OUT OR TRY MY BEST TO DO SO. This is the worst lender I've ever worked with. There's no good way to pay online so I have to physically mail a check. I receive no notification when my payment is due and service credit union alone has lowered my credit score significantly for this reason. I've never been late for a credit card or auto loan other than with north east. I got a phone call that didn't even say what they were calling about of course at a terrible time for a working citizen to take a phone call called back to find out it was a debt collector for a late payment. I leased a car, and apparently the dealership went through this company. There is no easy way to see any information about your account or to pay your bill. It's just this really bizarre setup where every step takes days. The website and functionality are comically bad. The customer service isn't good either. Try to call and get information and they act like you're personally insulting them for asking questions. But you're asking questions because they have this insanely inefficient and comically inept website that is not user-friendly or intuitive in any way. Best to avoid this place. read more

I love this place, as much as you can love a bank I guess. The great thing is that they are not a bank...no crazy fees and minimum balances for regular checking and savings accounts. I came to this credit union from a friends recommendation after not being able to get a credit card from TD Banknorth about 5 years ago. I was under 18 but had been making deposits with them daily and they insisted I have a co-signer due to my lack of credit history. Instead of working with me they allowed me to close 6 accounts and take out all my money. I came to Northeast Credit Union with no accounts there, no credit history and being 17 years old and asked for a credit card which they issued me. I have been there ever since and no matter what branch I go to everyone if very friendly and I have never had a complaint about anything whatsoever. This particular branch I go to most often since it is close to my work. I had a problem with some credit card fraud a while ago and they helped me resolve it very quickly and made me feel so much more calm and secure and that everything would be okay. Peace of mind is great in a situation where you feel so helpless. ATM is awesome because it takes cash so you don't have to fill out any envelopes and the money is available immediately. Plus this one almost never breaks down or has any problems. I think only once in the past 7 years I have been going here has the ATM been out of service. Got to love that reliability. Free checking with no minimum balance, minimum balance on my savings account is only $5 and online banking which I use all the time and saves me about $300 a year in stamps. I've been a member of this bank since they merged with Ocean Communities dating back a few years. I applied for an auto loan this past Monday at 9am online. I asked for a term of 72 months. The website said I would get a response within 24 hours. 24 hours came and went. Nothing. 48 hours came and went. Nothing. So I called customer service only to find out the loan officer that was assigned my application wasn't working for the next couple of days. It would have been nice to have that communicated, but it wasn't. The customer service rep said I would be receiving a call from my branch within the next two hours from a new loan officer. 4 hours passed. Nothing. I went into the bank personally. A young man looked into my account and said "I'll notate the account to make sure someone contacts you." The following morning (three days and 72 hours later) I get a phone call around 11am from a young man to let me know that I'm approved. I start the process of collecting paperwork to move forward. I arrive at the bank and begin to discuss the loan, when I'm informed of the loan terms, which is now 48 months instead of 72, like I had asked. Not once did anyone communicate to me that my terms weren't accepted until I inquired about them. That should have been communicated immediately, as the new loan terms were beyond what I could afford financially. He then reccomended that I apply for a personal loan so he could put in a request for me to get a 60 month term. I agreed. 24 hours passed. Zero communication. I called the bank, a young man answers and says "I'm sorry we're too busy to look into your loan, call us back in a half an hour." I called back every 30 minutes for 2 hours. Nobody answered. The bank closed. I informed the seller of the car that I was unable to acquire a loan. He told me today that he can't wait any longer because he has a cash buyer, and has decided to sell the car this afternoon. I'm also without transportation because my cars transmission is dead. Needless to say, I'm beyond frustrated. Myself and my family will be closing our accounts and seeking a new institution. The customer service and communication here has been horrendous, and it cost me a reliable car because your employees couldn't do their jobs, let alone communicate basic details. This is not how you serve your customers. Id leave zero stars if I could. read more

This bank is complete TRASH. They have the most ridiculous online payment system... that doesn't work half the time. You have to transfer from your REAL bank to an account with this establishment (term used very loosely) then you have to wait for that to transfer, then you have to log on and transfer it from that asinine account to the actual loan account. It took me 5 months to even get my primary account set up so I could do the transfers because they (NECU) had so many issues. And when I transfer, it states transferred pending, I go to log in to pay my loan... the transfer is not there. WTF is wrong with this place? I cannot wait to be done with this bank. read more

Had a motorcycle loan through NECU because they had the best rate around. They neglected to mention that the only way you can avoid paying a fee for using auto pay is if it comes from another NECU account. If your primary checking account is else where that means managing additional transfers. Annoying but not the end of the world as it's a one time setup. Loan is paid off and you have a remaining balance in your NECU account you want to transfer back. Easy, except no where do they tell you there is a fee for outgoing transfers too. That is until you're charged another fee for not maintaining the $5 minimum. tl;dr - They have a fee for everything and they go out of their way to hide it as much as possible to extract other fees and overages. I couldn't imagine anyone dealing with this on a daily basis. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

I had my car financed through NECU, and will be forever grateful. I'm the beginning, service was amazing. but this year, CS has become a joke. The website and app are constantly being "updated", and never in a good way. Policies constantly change. All of the sudden, whereas last year one could "skip-a-payment" at Will if they were in good standings. This year I was told "that is only the month of June and we aren't doing that this year." (Funny it's only the month of June but I skipped a February payment last year.) Since starting, I have had an ongoing battle trying to switch from Paper to E-Statements. I've had multiple conversations, with multiple CS Reps, but only today - after all this time - I'm told it isn't possible to call and ask the bank to switch? You guys are messy with your policy, and obviously do a highly shoddy job training your reps. I will now be exploring other banks to have my loan refinanced, because I just don't want to deal with you all anymore. read more

I see what others are saying about the online bill pay and I totally get it. But I have a fix! I've had my loan for over 3 years now and used to deal with the archaic payments website via NECU...AND pay a $5 fee to make my car payment. This was the best option for me at first because the closest branch was 40 minutes from home and I never remembered to drop a check in the mail on time. HOWEVER, I have seen some system updates. And I started having enough money from my paycheck be direct deposited into my NECU savings account. Then I just log in to the regular online banking and transfer from savings to my loan...for free! I only had to call customer service once that I recall - back when I got an ATM card for the savings account, and I remember the girl being very helpful. I also love their Skip A Pay option for Dec and/or Jan - can be helpful when it comes to Christmas shopping! read more

I have a car loan through this bank. They sent me three payment slips, i've used all of them but they haven't sent more so I tried to enroll in the online banking but kept hitting a brick wall because it didn't like my information. I called them and talked to a person, they were helpful, the reason i was having trouble enrolling was because they didn't have an email on record for me. I gave them an email, and was able to get in, I had to answer a bunch of questions for security purposes which i was OK with. Once i got into the online banking, there is nowhere to make loan payments. I tried to enroll in e-pay, and again it's telling me that it can't confirm my account number. I NEVER write reviews, but with my experience with this credit union, it's unavoidable. They are an absolute joke. I was signed up with them when I purchased my jeep and they were nothing but a nightmare. Who seriously charges a $5 fee each month when you auto pay your loan? Their customer service is also so terrible. They are incredibly rude and condescending, specifically when I had to deal with the Remote Services department. Good luck to you if you have to call and ask a pretty basic epayment question! You'll most likely get a very unpleasant gentleman who will quickly treat you like a toddler. Do yourself a favor and avoid NECU at all costs. I know when you sign up for an auto loan, it's sometimes easiest to go with their recommendation due to interest rates, but there are plenty of other great credit unions out there! Today is 1/24/18 and Northeast Credit Union has not posted the 1/20/18 statement to the website. PATHETIC! I need this statement NOW for a mortgage application. Any other bank or FCU has the statements available NEXT DAY after date of statement. I contacted them twice, but all they say is that the statement should have been ready yesterday, which would have been late. Now they say they are working hard to publish the statement today. How about working SMART instead of hard and inefficient? Still no statement available. I MISS OCEAN COMMUNITIES! Honestly I've tried hard to like this bank but time and time again I have been unable to get problems resolved in a timely manner, I added my wife to my account so we could work on her credit I explained this to the customer service associate they said they would add her to the credit card I had with NECU. Months later we check her credit no change I call them again explain the situation they apologize for the precious associate and add my wife to my credit card, now she has a card but months later still no effect on her score, so I call back today and find out adding her to my account will never effect her credit and we need to open a card with both of us (I didn't realize that it wouldn't do that but the associates failed to explain this 3+ times I probably called about 5 times by the end of this and must say the bank is alright but the customer service is so lacking in expirience that you will never get what you want done taken care of in a timely manner after 2/3 years with this bank I think its almost time for me to find a new credit union and I hope no one else has the misfortune of dealing with such an unprofessional business. read more

Negative review posted with other Yelp reviews for Northeast Credit Union and applies to the BANK itself, not to a particular branch. I have a vehicle loan with Northeast Credit Union, with monthly payments deducted directly from another banking system. My agreement to have monthly payments automatically deducted from my account has been in place for about two years and I entered into this loan agreement specifically with them, based upon the agreement that they would pull this money from my account without any attached service fees. Recently, I noted an additional $5 per month being siphoned out of my bank and discovered that Northeast Credit had changed their banking practices and have imposed a $5 fee on existing loans. Contacting their call center was fruitless, as they refused to remove the additional fee even when presented with the fact that this is NOT the agreement I signed with them when taking out the loan. Their response boiled down to: Too bad for you, we changed the deal and you can't do anything about it. Sound like a bank you want to do business with? I requested a telephone call back from the bank management to discuss further my contention that this new fee should not be applied to existing loans. I never received a call back from bank management. My loan has not been paid this month, as Northeast Credit Union apparently terminated the direct withdrawal, without providing me any notification...perhaps they hope to charge me a late fee? Surely, they wouldn't try that as well. Almost all of the phone representatives I have spoken with can best be described as "surly", Today I spoke with another representative, to again have the bank management call me and inquired why they had not called before, as they had previously promised. Strangely, the number that they had on file was not mine, had never been mine, was not the number supplied on the loan application and not even close to mine...but sure makes a great excuse why they couldn't get a hold of me. Let's bet they could find my correct number if I didn't make the payments for 3 months. There are many banking options out there, and I'd suggest to anyone considering using this bank to look elsewhere, for a bank that has more ethical business practices and shows more care and respect for their clients. read more

High fees which they don't tell you about upfront. For example, $5 a month on a savings account for inactivity (even if you have a checking account). You're defaulted to $2 fees unless you specifically ask to be paperless. They do a poor job linking accounts for you too. Their car loan rates are decent, better than banks (but about the same as comparable credit unions). Overall, I would not recommend. read more
