(How, with the rise of plant parenting during the pandemic, is this not a more readily available piece of furniture?). But don't you worry, I didn't leave empty handed--this store didn't have what I was looking for, but it had a lot of other great stuff. It's a little confusing when you get there, trying to figure out where to go in--or if, indeed, you should go in; I was really worried I was wandering around someone's private home. I'm almost positive it *was* a private home at on time, and they've used the space in a really cool way. When you wander through the store--which is pretty large, and PACKED with stuff--you'll find furniture, candles, silverware, dinnerware, blankets, pillows, tote bags, cookie cutters, greeting cards... just about any sort of gift or houseware item you might want. They also have as a part of their business custom furniture building, and they've used one of the rooms to display the different types of wood that you can choose for your furniture. That's so creative!! I really love how in the kitchen they still have old-school appliances like a dishwasher, refrigerator... I swear, I felt like I was in my grandma's home. And the counters are also used to display merchandise. I'm honestly just so astounded by how clever they used this space to make it wonderfully inviting. The thing I don't love about this store is that it doesn't have a website for anything beyond its woodworking arm, and they don't use ApplePay. I asked about both things, because I had wanted to buy a blanket as a gift, but realized I had the household card on me instead of my debit card. So I ended up only picking up a few items and left the blanket. I know that opting against e-commerce is a deliberate choice and they clearly don't need to venture online for their business to work, but it's too bad for folks like me who don't live near and are not going to make the trip to shop there. I found this Village Lamp Shoppe to be very full of unique lamps, lamp shades, nightlights, etc…read more MORE IMPORTANTLY, the technician can fix or upgrade any lamp. He has done so on six of or lamps. The service is quick, like only a day or two, and the cost is fair. This store is a great find as far as I am concerned. The couple that run it are very gracious and pleasant people.

All we wanted was for it to be fixed. This guy said he didn't know what was wrong with the lamp, so he was going to convert the whole lamp and convert it to a halogen lamp, saying it would be brighter. (Okay, but that's not what I asked for!) He charged $50 for that work which is ridiculous, I could've bought two lamps for that price. NOT TO MENTION THAT IT TOOK MORE THAN 3 MONTHS FOR HIM TO FINALLY FIX IT! And if it couldn't get any worse, when I got the lamp and plugged it in at my house, it smoked at the top. The light was not at all brighter than before, instead it got dimmer, till finally the bulb burned out!! I am so upset with this guy's service. How can a lamp business owner not know how to fix a fluorescent lamp?? Why this run around with an unnecessary conversion to halogen based on his ridiculous advice? Why? Because it's a struggling business that is dying to rip off customers! I do not recommend this place to anyone. Do yourself a favor and find a more reliable lamp business with those who know what they are doing! That's what I would do, if I knew this is what would happen!

New product comes in daily according to their Facebook and everything comes assembled, ready to take home. Located in the previous location of Joanne Fabrics location, Open Box Outlet has a large layout where they display an overwhelming number of items. My husband is already excited to come back to check out more items. While the customer service could use a touch of work (greeting customers or at least having someone ask if you need help finding something), I blame the fact they just opened for that and I'm sure they'll get the right number of employees to remedy that. This is a wonderful shop with gorgeous furniture! They specialize in Mission Oak and Craftsman…read morepieces and have high end pieces rarely found, especially so many all in one shop together. I love this type of furniture, so I enjoy looking around, but the prices are high. I found a couple of Mission Oak footstools I would have loved to have bought, but they were in the $400-500 range - for a simple footstool. Granted, not easy to find and in good shape, but that was more than I was willing to pay. Shop is located in St. Joseph, which is traditionally a wealthy area (Whirlpool Corporation is here, so be sure to notice the who-needs-a-house-that-big mansions along the lakeshore if you drive by). St. Joseph is a tourist and summer home area for people with money. The furniture here is desirable, beautiful, and hard to find. Those factors create high prices that others can and will pay. As for we middle class types, we continue to rummage out of the way antiques shops in hopes of a lucky find.

Some how I've lived in the area my whole life and only just recently came here for the first time…read more My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised to see how large this place is. They have a lot of items for super cheap. While the stuff is all used and pretty well loved, it all seemed reasonably nice. I could see someone who loves restoring furniture having a grand old time in here. We got a decent table for only $9 that we plan on painting. They have a large selection of items in all their sections, including VHS tapes, clothes and vases. My husband and I plan on coming back often because the employees are kind and the items are great for a thrift store.
