Light Side is my go to for relaxation! From the moment I walk in the door, I'm in a healthy environment where I can let go of all of life's stresses and drift into a deeply peaceful space inside myself. It feels like that moment juuussst before you fall asleep when your mind is quiet and you feel like a baby back in the womb, safe and sound and weightless, without a care in the world. As a customer since Light Side first opened back in 2016, I took a break during covid, but have recently returned (in June and July 2021) and I'm glad I did because it's better than ever! There's massage chairs, a super covid-killing air filtration machine, better/easier ear plugs, tea, water and coloring, delta8 products for sale, and did I mention, merch!?! Tom is always efficient, laid-back and respectful, he seems happy to chat if you're in the mood or to let you relax in silence if that's more your vibe. 10/10: will be going again! read more

I wish I well you about my experience but I can't seem to get appointments to use the gift certificate we purchased. I was able to book online the first time and was so excited to try it out but a few days after booking, I received 3 emails saying my 3 service appointments were cancelled. When I go online now to book new appointments, it sends you to a login page. Once I login, there is no option to get to a booking link. I have left 2-3 voicemails and sent several emails requesting assistance but have never heard back from anyone. Yesterday I went by the location in the hopes of getting in-person assistance and the doors were locked! I am starting to wonder if they do not wish to honor the gift certificate or their customer service is just horrible! read more

I got it as a gift certifie. I was really looking forward to it. I tried to take the shower like they asked beforehand. I'd let the water run more than five minutes. The water would not get hot. I told the man he said oh it'll take five minutes to heat. I finally gave up and got in the tub. The tub stung my insides as a woman that was not relaxing and very uncomfortable so then after 10 minutes of trying to put up with that, I then try again to take a shower to wash all the salt off of me that was also starting to sting my eyes a bit and still could not get hot water and it was only cold. I got dressed went to the man told him my experience and I still couldn't get the hot water to work instead of him apologizing all he has to say is nothing was wrong with the hot water. The last person who used it didn't say anything not an apology not nothing I would never use this place again and I would tell everyone to not use it. read more

Bought two gift cards June 2021, I went to make an appointment for a 60 minute float. Since the purchase of the floats, the prices went up $10, so they wanted to charge me an additional $10 on top of the gift card. I bought the gift card during a special they were running. I didn't think this was right, I asked to speak with the manager or owner and he said that he was the owner. I asked if he didn't want to waive the additional fee then I would want a refund on my gift certificates. He then hung up on me, with no refund. I called back, he didn't answer. Cold day - medium warm place? It was a brutal cold and windy day in town and I was trying my first float. The check in procedure went fine, then the explanation of the room was great. But then things went a little off, went to take the pre-float shower and had the temp ALL the way to Hot and it was not warm enough. The shower is a semi rainfall type and perhaps that (along with a room that was not that warm) made it worse. The float itself was fine, I had a lot going on and found it hard to let go but that's a personal problem. The quiet mind never came.. I had enough floating after 30 minutes then back to the lukewarm shower and guess what empty shower soap dispenser. Sigh. Told the owner as he asked how my float was - he said they have to prevent scalding due to being commercial and sorry about the soap. He did not really to seem to care that my experience was less that ideal, it was more of a "oh thanks for telling us, see ya". Seems like rather than squeezing the last 1/4 out of the soap they would replace canister ahead of time - cause if no soap (and it was down to drips on my pre float shower). Once undressed you are kinda of stuck - hmm get redressed and find attendant for soap? I'm usually cold in winter but the room temp seemed cold, the shower not hot enough and even the float tank was a tiny bit cold (perhaps 1/3 of your body is above the water surface so air temp important) I also find the price point high - but that's an individual decision - I had a Groupon. I'll stick to a massage at the same cost personally. read more

Booked a float for myself and my pregnant wife. Front person acted like he hated his job. Brain dead zombie attitude common to the youth of today. Owners need to teach their employees customer service and how to clean a bathroom. The toilet had crusty pee all over the seat. Looked like it haven't been cleaned in days. We where the only ones there so it's not like he didn't have the time. My wife is very pregnant and ended up not being able to lay on her back in there so she got out after 5 mins. When we asked about a refund or even a partial credit for the future the front person laughed and simple shook his head no. I've been to many float places and this was a joke. The lobby also consists of two uncomfortable chairs and a delta 9 thc case. Idiocracy vibes. read more

My second visit to Light Side Floats was even better than my first. Better in that I wasn't anxious about the unknown, instead, my body knew what it needed. The infrared sauna was the perfect start to my visit, followed by my hour long float. The floats rooms are beyond clean actually, chrome polished and floors are dry. Fresh towels and toiletries plentiful when preparing for and after the sessions. read more

If you're thinking of coming here for a relaxing day, do yourself a favor and just book a massage. This was one of the most bizarre experiences of my life, and I've had many. First of all I was the only person there at 11AM and the place looked and seemed abandoned. The only employee there, a middle aged white man, was rude and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. He was very terse while explaining how the float worked while also having an attitude like he was annoyed he had to explain it in the first place. They charge $5 for towel service apparently, which according to him, "if you would've read the waiver, you would've known". I booked a session that included 1 hour float, 30 minute hydro massage, and 30 minute sauna. As I was getting ready to enter the float room, this employee notifies me I'll only be able to do the 1 hour float today, and if I wanted to do the other treatments I had booked, I would've had to been there an hour earlier. At this point I didnt care that much because I already knew I wanted to spend as little time as possible here before getting the f and never returning but still, very shady. He told me he would let me "try" the hydro massage since I was there, and let me use it for ten minutes which was more than enough because the hydro massage literally consisted of lying down on a water-bed mat thing that just sloshed water around. The employee shows me around the float room and explains that the door is dead bolted and triple locked so I could "feel safe" which honestly made me feel more uncomfortable. The float bath was literally a regular tub with epsom salt from Walmart (I saw it in the hallway) plus they also had some instrumental music playing in the background which wasn't conducive to the sensory deprivation I thought I was going to get from this service. Either way, I wasnt really able to relax being alone in that strange facility with that strange man so I was glad when the time was over. Also the salt was basically impossible to wash off and I was walking around with white residue on me all day. Like I said, just get a massage! read more

Purchase the first float for my husband as a birthday gift. He now has a membership and we drive out weekly from Baltimore because floating has been so helpful for his aches and other health issues. The facility is so clean and calm, the open float tanks are inviting and the staff is super friendly and helpful! Come float, you won't regret it! read more

My float experience was amazing. I purchased a Groupon for a 15 minute Hydro massage and a 50 minute float. This is my first time ever floating. The facility was very calm and relaxing, it felt very much like a high-end spa. The staff were prompt, friendly, and supportive through the whole process. I was a little bit concerned that I would get bored or fidgety during the float, but it was so incredibly relaxing that I enjoyed the entire experience and felt rejuvenated and refreshed afterwards. I highly recommend this service. As soon as another Groupon goes up, I will be purchasing as many as I can! While floats themselves are not too expensive, I'm always looking for a way to save a few bucks if I can :-). It's definitely worth the price either way. read more

I am a firm believe in reviews should be left good or bad... I have NOTHING negative to say about FF. From the staff to the services down to the tea you can get from the lounge on your way out. Every single person I interacted with explained everything to me so I knew exactly what to expect. I am sure everyone will come here for different reasons but, I cam here to seek relief from hip pain. I was not expecting anything to happen or change right away but, After I got home, not only did I feel relaxed but I was also able to feel some relief from my pain. What a wonderful experience from beginning to end! Everyone was very kind and helpful. The decor is spa like, calming and lends itself to relaxation. The float chambers used here are more like tubs and didn't give me the feeling of claustrophobia. You can have the light on if you like and also have music. This place was amazing! My friend picked this for her birthday adventure. I was skeptical at first, but it was so much fun. The facility was clean and relaxing. Everything was explained in detail, and I felt super comfortable going into the tub, no questions left unanswered. I think everyone has a different experience while floating, but that's the point right? I got a little cold during and couldn't shut my brain off at first, but I was sooooo relaxed afterwards and clear headed. It was kinda neat! Definitely stay and relax in the whisper room afterwards. The tea warmed me right up, and I loved reading the journal of everyone else's experiences. Also, the added hydro massage is worth the $10. read more

My first float today and not at all what I expected. Maybe need to try it again to see if the 2nd time is different??? First thing instructed to do once you lock the door is to put in your earplugs-I guess I am ear plug challenged because they leaked during my float! I experienced a very cool shower to start-think an extra wash cloth should be provided for the initial shower. Then into the tank where I tried extremely hard to relax because I kept moving into the side of the tank-first my foot, then my hand and my head (good thing I put the head float ring on back of my head!) Tried to keep really still so that I would not float into the tank walls. I couldn't decide if I needed to be deeper into the water or what but after about 40-45 minutes I had enough. Got out of the tank and post float shower which took a while for hot water but sign says only stay in the room 10 minutes. Floor was really wet and needed to be extremely careful walking or trying to get dressed without dunking clothes into the water which was almost at the exit door. I have another gift card credit for an hour float but will have to wait to see how it goes next time before I am a fan. read more

Rejuvenating. Restorative. Relaxing. Highly Recommend.

From the moment I walked through the door, everything about Float Frederick put me at ease and was relaxing. What a beautiful space they have to fill out the short paperwork before you are taken back for your treatment. Warm, friendly and inviting feelings continued down the hall to my personal room for my treatment. The space to prepare (and rinse off after) for my treatment is roomy and has all the things I need to store my belongings during the treatment. Entering the tank was easy and from there on, it just got better! You are able to float with or without lights and with or without gentle music. Even with the lights off, you still have a small amount of light coming in the door of the tank area, so it's not completely dark. The music carries through the water and washes over you. Floating is such a wonderful and a sensation that I cannot begin to describe. You feel completely free but it's such a relaxing feeling and I never felt like I was falling or sinking. Having a small neck pillow put me so at ease that I fell asleep during the treatment. I only awoke when the lights signaled the end of the treatment session. Once exiting the tank, you shower and then are shown to the "primp area" that contains everything but your comb! Then I wandered to the Whisper Lounge to enjoy a cup of herbal tea and to reflect on my treatment. I felt so at peace and so relaxed after floating and honestly, my body felt a little more healed just from the hour session. I have a lot of injuries sustained while I was deployed to Afghanistan and it's very difficult to move some days and sleep! That night, I had the most sound sleep in a very long time. I would like to thank Tom and Alyssa from the bottom of my heart for recognizing the need for this treatment and therapy here in Frederick! I cannot wait to go back for my next float and of course, a hydro massage! I was treated so well by all the staff there and I was very impressed with the detail they have put into making this a truly zen experience. read more

Fantastic experience! I've heard many, many people rave about how amazing floating is, so I had to try it out for myself. I am SO glad I chose Float Frederick as the place to do it. The staff is wonderful; they have a huge passion for flotation therapy and are very helpful when it came to answering all my questions. The facility is beautiful. I cannot express how clean, organized, and relaxing they made the place - from the wait room, to the float room, to the Whisper Lounge - everything is perfect. I especially love the Whisper Lounge... being able to sit down with a hot cup of tea after my float was great. The flotation experience itself was nothing short of amazing. I was able to just lay there, float, and listen to the music (I chose to keep it on). When I was finished I was definitely so much more relaxed, and that relaxation carried over into the next day as well.
