In the spring of 2025, my husband, Jamie, needed to have his gallbladder removed after experiencing persistent problems and inflammation. His surgery was initially scheduled for about a month later, but when his symptoms continued to worsen, we contacted Dr. Nguyen. After discussing what Jamie was experiencing, we decided it was best not to wait--and it was a good thing we didn't. Dr. Nguyen performed the surgery the very next day at Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Nguyen is not only an expert in his field, but he also has an exceptional bedside manner. He was attentive, reassuring, and continued to follow up after the procedure. Jamie recovered wonderfully. Fast-forward to September 2026, when Jamie developed severe abdominal pain and went to the emergency room at El Camino Hospital. Testing revealed appendicitis, and we were so relieved to discover that Dr. Nguyen was there and would once again be performing his surgery. Jamie has endured several serious health challenges over the past few years, including vestibular migraines and open-heart surgery at Stanford for an aortic aneurysm, which required part of his aorta to be replaced. Needless to say, he has been through a lot. Seeing Dr. Nguyen immediately lifted his spirits because he knew he would literally be in the best hands. Jamie is currently recovering in the hospital, where he is being monitored because of his medical history, but the surgery went extremely well, and we are confident he will have another smooth recovery. We are deeply grateful for Dr. Nguyen's expertise, compassion, attentiveness, and genuine care for his patients. He takes the time necessary to help ensure the best possible outcome and makes both the patient and their family feel comfortable and supported. Dr. Nguyen is an amazing surgeon, and we recommend him wholeheartedly. If you need a procedure within his area of expertise, do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment with him. About a week ago, I notice some discomfort in one of my man parts, and after inspecting the area for days, I noticed a very small lump toward the top back of my testis (TMI I know). I spent the next few days unfortunately reading hours of information on Google and Reddit, along with hours of video on YouTube. My anxiety was so high, as I was convinced I had testicular cancer at 38 years old. I was able to make a quick appointment with Dr. Gutman after waiting only 2 days. I brought my wife with me, he sat us down, and asked me to tell him my concerns. After doing so, he performed the exam and within a minute, reassured me that what I had was a completely harmless cyst called a Spermatocele. I asked him to please check one more time because I wanted to be convinced. He knew how nervous I was, so he again thoroughly checked the area. When he told me there was nothing to worry about, he noticed that I had kid cash for the visit. Dr. Gutman proceeded to shake my hand and told his office staff to refund my exam fee. I was almost in tears with having the good news along with his selfless gesture. Great guy and I really appreciate him.

What kind of surgeon can't recognize and diagnose a wet wound that needs immediate attention at wound care. My opinion of Dr Gutman fell to the lowest score and I've lost all respect for him as a surgeon. His vacation was more important than his patient. With this information please do not put your trust and life in the hands of Dr Gutman. Don't mess with a grandma bear when it comes to her grandchildren. I saw Dr. Youn about five years ago and had an incredibly negative experience. Now that I have…read morereceived the care I needed from a more caring doctor, I feel it is important to share my experience with Dr. Youn so others can make an informed decision before seeing him. I scheduled my visit to discuss complications following a surgery in another state. Upon meeting Dr. Youn and telling him about this issue, I had my medical records in hand, which he refused to review. When I asked questions about how I can rectify my issue, he claimed he couldn't provide answers because he didn't know my medical history. If a doctor doesn't take the time to review records when offered, how can they provide adequate care? Beyond the lack of professionalism, his bedside manner was shockingly cold. I was met with dismissiveness and impatience, as if my concerns were an inconvenience. The entire interaction was incredibly rushed, with Dr. Youn giving a quick exam and giving little answers, seeming eager to leave the room before I even had time to ask questions and get dressed. Adding to the frustration, there was no patient portal or direct way to communicate with the doctor outside of limited phone hours, which is highly unusual for a medical practice. It's possible that this has changed over the past few years. Shortly after posting my review on Yelp and writing a letter to Dr. Youn, I received a call from him. He did not apologize for his behavior, but he did spend thirty minutes speaking with me. He asked me to read some information to him from my medical history (something he refused to review when I saw him in person), and he gave some insight. I found it convenient for him that he gave me the care I needed after sending him a contentious letter and publishing a public review, rather than providing the care I needed when seeing him for an appointment. So why am I deciding to publish this review now? Accountability is important. Seeing that others have had similar experiences, it is clear that Dr. Youn's aloof behavior has not gone unnoticed. I encourage him to make a significant adjustment.

However, when my the effects of the nerve blocker wore off, my daughter was having excruciating pain (she rated 10/10) and saying that the Percocet was not working, but it was already Friday night so the doctor's office was closed and we couldn't reach Dr. Cohen. Dr. Gidvani was the on-call physician so we reached out to him to ask for additional / alternative pain meds. He was very dismissive and said to up the dosage on the Percocet. We told him that my daughter had previous experience where Percocet did not affect her, but he didn't care. We then ended up at Good Samaritan Hospital (it was incredibly painful for her to be transported there because any movement of her leg was excruciating) where they gave her Dilaudid via intravenous. That finally seemed to help bring down the pain to a 5 or 6. However, the attending ER doctor spoke with Gidvani and REFUSED to prescribe anything else. When I told that ER physician that we would end up having to come back to ER, he responded: "So come back then." Of course no more than 3 hours later she was in 10/10 pain again so I had to call an ambulance to bring my daughter back. I tried to reach Dr. Gidvani but when the exchange tried to connect me to him so I could tell him the Percocet was having zero effect, he refused to talk to me and just told them to relay to me to have her take triple the dose!! I'm no math major, three times zero is still zero, but this pathetic excuse for a doctor with the bedside manner of a bucket of urine did not care and dismissed my daughter's pain. The second ER doctor was actually a human being with empathy and agreed to prescribe a different med which got us out of our nightmare. Long story short, I'm disgusted and disappointed to find doctors who have zero empathy like this one. Would strongly recommend you avoid this robot masquerading as a doctor.

But after two months, the opening wouldn't heal, the antibiotics she prescribed me did not reduce the lump at all, and there was no bacteria found in the lab testing, I started to question whether I actually had mastitis. But Dr. Mardi Karini would not listen to me at all. She was very certain her initial diagnosis was right despite the evidences. Three months after I had the lump, I finally did a core biopsy to confirm that the lump was granulamatous mastitis, a rare disease that's oftentimes associated with autoimmune causes. After the biopsy confirmed that her initial diagnosis was wrong, I was transferred to a different doctor, and I never saw or heard from Dr. Mardi Karin again. During the three months that I saw Dr. Mardi Karin, I had eight office visits with her in total. Every time, she rushed in and out within 10-15 minutes. She always appeared to be confident and knew what she was doing. But when I shared how my body felt with her, I didn't think she was listening. I had a feeling that she did not like to be challenged when the evidence did not fit with her judgement, or facing a new disease that she was not familiar with. It was a traumatizing experience for me. The disease itself was very painful, but on top of that, being misdiagnosed, having an open wound that wouldn't heal for months, being medicated for a wrong diagnosis that destroyed my gut health, and being treated as if my feelings didn't matter all made the experience even worse. Reading some of the other reviews, it seems that Dr. Mardi Karin was good at other aspects. But based on my own experience, she seemed to be different when facing uncertain situations.

After 12+ months of research and numerous internal conversations about whether or not to get…read moresurgery to correct my upper right eyelid I decided it was time to do so and I chose Dr. Rosenthal to perform the blepharoplasty. Why Dr. Rosenthal? For me it was a decision based three primary criteria. Connection, credentials, and reviews. I then met with or had conversations with the surgeons I believed might be a good fit for me. After these initial meetings I got the underwhelming sense that I was either not welcome or insignificant somehow. Although subtle, it felt potent. Connection: However, in Dr. Rosenthal's office, I felt validated as a person and after meeting her I felt assured that she would perform the procedure with precision like accuracy. After just ten minutes of talking with her I had no doubt in my mind that I would be in good hands. Credentials: Dr. Rosenthal completed her residency and chief residency in plastic surgery at Stanford University. She received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She holds a bachelor-of-arts degree with high honors from Brown University. In addition, she has completed fellowships in both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Rosenthal is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and has received many awards and accolades. Impressive! Reviews: Well, you can see them on Yelp for yourselves. There are a couple concerning reviews about communication with the front office. Despite these reviews my experience with the staff has only been warm and welcoming. The staff is extremely prompt and professional, in addition to kind and courtesy. I would not let these reviews be a deterrent from meeting with Dr. Rosenthal in person and having a discussion about what you want to achieve and how she can help support you. With the three criteria were met I decided to schedule the operation with Dr. Rosenthal. In terms of the logistics of the operation both leading up to and after the surgery, the staff and Dr. Rosenthal were very supportive and thorough about how I should prepare myself to be in the best possible condition for the operation and to heal after. All in all the surgery itself took about an hour and was painless (I was awake for the operation). Swelling was normal and stitches came out in a few days. Results? In all sincerity Dr. Rosenthal exceeded my expectations! Quick contextualizing story: I was in a car accident over a decade ago and my right upper eyelid was torn apart by glass from the shattered front windshield. It was sown back together quickly and didn't heal properly. It has been droopy ever since. It resembled a lazy eye, but with visible scar tissue. I would have been happy just to get the scar tissue and the bothersome extra skin removed from my upper right eyelid even if it didn't match my left eyelid. Dr. Rosenthal didn't just remove the scar tissue and extra skin causing the lazy eye, but she also made the eyelid symmetric to the other eyelid and it appears as it would naturally. The scar is hardly visible and virtually invisible when my eyes are open. The scar will eventually fade with time. I am beyond thankful Dr. Rosenthal did my surgery. I feel as if a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. All the internal stress I caused myself being self-conscious about my eyelid has completely evaporated. I can look people in the eyes and listen to them fully without the internal chatter of insecurities running through my head about my eyelid, which may not seem like a big deal, but really is for me. I never thought having the surgery would make me a happier person with a new perspective on the importance of self-care. So... I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Rosenthal!
