LifeSpan has transformed in recent months in order to make more money. Their service has gone down the drain. Constant cancelations when important transportation to doctor's appointments have been set up far in advance and then canceled. Some days there is "NO ONE Available" for regular appointments. And they can't seem to get their bill paying straightened out. They "forget to send bills." I am fed up with their decline in service! They lost many good employees when they changed, on extremely short notice, to create more profit for themselves. They lost many good employees, and have not been able to replace them. Stay away from this "Service." Many times there is no one available to answer the phones, even in an emergency. It just rings and rings. There is no way to leave a message. my family used Lifespan almost a year for my dad. we got to know our main caregiver, Gracie pretty well. everyone in our family loves and adores her. she was fabulous with my dad, as were others on Gracie's days off. Hannah, in management was also fabulous and was always super responsive and caring. unfortunately my dad had a stroke and is no longer at home so we can't use them anymore, for now at least, and we miss Gracie tremendously! read more

This is a locally owned company which provides care to people who need help when they are disabled by age or other reasons. I have hired them recently to care for a neighbor & friend of mine for whom I pay the bills. She has memory problems, pain which keeps her from taking care of household chores, & she doesn't drive. The caregivers provided are excellent, and my friend enjoys their company and assistance. When I first called Lifespan about this matter, I needed their help right away. We retained this agency to perform an objective assessment for our elderly parent - to objectively assess their nursing, medical, caregiving & living circumstances. The report we received was: late, biased, sloppy, inaccurate, and failed to address the short list of critical areas we requested to be assessed. The assessment was also highly incomplete and no fact checking with their medical professionals Lifespan told us they would interview took place. They even used this report to sell & promote their own services. In general, I found them to be unresponsive and unprofessional. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this agency. If you do choose to work with them, explicitly detail your requirements and expectations in a written contract/agreement. read more

We hired this agency to take care of our aging parents. In one month they raised the price 4 times, despite the fact that we were very open about our parent's health issues prior to hiring them. The caretaker was kind but uneducated about health. The dinners were full of fat and cholesterol and she would bring sugary snacks to my diabetic mother. We have now hired independent caretakers and are much happier with their care. read more

My family first used Lifespan Care in 1993 when my grandmother needed at-home care. At first she just needed someone to cook and do some light cleaning for her. Later, she broke her hip and needed at-home care. Throughout all of her care, our family felt like she was in very good hands. We trusted the care givers completely. Importantly, the care givers were really kind to her. Finally, at the end of her life, they were there for her with at-home hospice care. We had such a good experience that now my aging parents (late 80's) need cooking and light housekeeping and a little bit of personal care. So far, it's been a great experience again. The people are kind and caring and it's nearly 20 years later. One thing that has given us so much confidence is how patient and thorough the staff is. They have been very detailed oriented, and they respond to our phone calls or my parents calls promptly. If you have ever read any of my other reviews, I make it a point to ask about the owners of business because I strongly support supporting local businesses. Lifespan has been locally owned by two impressive business women for a number of years. They are very proud of their business and it shows. Without getting too personal, we had a situation that required in home care. They did an excellent job of answering all my questions and helping us through a tough time. I can fully recommend them because though they have many care givers, the management was always ready to answer any questions or concerns we had. read more

Lifespan has provided excellent care and assistance for both of my parents. When we moved my parents to the local area several years ago, they helped us transition my father, who had dementia, into memory care. Later, when he broke his hip, lifespan helped us with the difficult decisions around surgery, and subsequent recovery. It was an extremely hard time, and their support and aide was a godsend. Currently, they are providing care services for my mother while I am on vacation. It is comforting for me to know that, while I am out of town, my mother is in good hands. A wonderful nurse from Lifespan accompanied me up to the SF Bay Area to visit my mother who has had a stroke. She spent many hours with my parents in order give me an assessment on what my mother may need in the way of home care. She was professional, caring and made my mother and her husband feel respected and cared about. Lifespan offers comprehensive service in support of the elderly in Santa Cruz. They are unique in the county in the depth and breadth of services that they are able to offer in support of the elderly. LifeSpan assisted us in assessing our elderly parent's living and care situation. An RN and an LCSW both visited our parent and spent several hours reviewing his living and care situation. They conferred with the other professionals involved in his care. They were professional and prompt and provided us with a comprehensive report that allowed everyone involved to understand the care needs and requirements of our parent. In addition, the staff at LifeSpan have been very helpful with fielding follow-up questions and with suggestions for arranging the additional care recommended in the report. They have been a constant partner in helping my mother and our family navigate her path. First in making an accurate assessment and then finding an appropriate option when she needed to move from her independent living situation. Lifespan has been caring for my mother for over six years now. My mother is suffering from both vascular dementia and Parkinson's and thus is sometimes extremely hostile and difficult to deal with. I never thought I'd find an agency that would begin to even try to deal with her (several local ones declined). Well not only has Lifespan found several aides that take excellent care of her, but one or two that she gets along with extremely well. She is getting out, seeing the sights and enjoying life much more (and complaining a lot less) than even before her dementia started. Sometimes she even goes on overnight trips with the aides. She is receiving the best care that can ever be imagined. Lifespan administration has always been efficient and professional. My mother sees quite a few doctors now and never misses an appointment; I am always kept up to date on her condition; and Lifespan will even act as a patient's advocate if necessary (and if you have had a relative with dementia, you know that sometimes the doctors can make the problem even worse, as they have a tendency to dismiss the dementia in the early stages, which can make your life pretty hard). In summary, I feel that I can trust Lifespan in every way and am thrilled that they are managing my mother's care. read more
