I have been a Life SHIELD customer for over 4 years, paying my monthly bill without a hitch. When my fire alarm went off, NO TEXT was dispatched, NO CALL was made, and NO FIRE DEPARTMENT was alerted. I have two small children in the house...what if this was a real emergency?! I called customer service and they were unable to see where the breakdown was, and DISCONNECTED my entire system without notifying me. By the way, this was the second incident I had where there was a mix up in the monitoring (fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me).This type of customer service is unacceptable, do yourself a favor and stay away! read more

In the past month I have dealt with two tablets that wont connect to my system, everyday I get a notification that my door has been opened while I am sitting there alone in my living room, yesterday I got an alert while I was at work that the backdoor was opened, police were called (by me Lifeshield didn't even bother calling them) they told me everything was secure, today I got a burglary alarm notification on my phone so I had a neighbor check the house, it was all good but the alarm was going off) I called police dept again and again they had no notification of the alarm (mind you it was about 15min after the alarm notification, and now they are telling me I may have to pay $500 to get out of the contract? I wish I could use cuss words to explain the quality of this system but since I cannot I will just call it garbage! read more

We decided to go w/Lifeshield due to being told by the rep (as well as reading it in their literature) that they had a military clause and we could cancel service when we we had to relocate. We sent in our PCS (moving) orders and they wouldn't discontinue our service, stating they would only discontinue due to deployment. We have been moving cross country and trying to find a place to live at our new duty station so we've been paying for service for the last 3 months even though we have not had a home to use it in. The worst of it is, we usually move every 2-3 years w/the military and we are stuck with this ridiculously long 6 year contract basically because we were lied to. If I knew they wouldn't let us out of our contract when we had to move, I definitely wouldn't have gone with them. We are very disappointed with this company. read more

READ THE FINE PRINT!! This security system and company served its purpose for me, and I wanted to get give it a good review, that was however until I decided to cancel. I moved into a new house in August 2016, but never transferred or reinstalled my LifeShield security system over. My contract with them ended in September. Little did I know, if you DON'T CANCEL within the ending month of the contract, it is automatically renewed! Which means I have to pay for a FULL YEAR (around $350) in order to cancel. Terrible company!! First they did not ship all the sensors and the sensors don't stick well. I have had 3 false alarms in the middle of the night, because the sensor was not aligned correctly, due to the poor aheasive. Second the install was crap! They put the motion sensors flat on a wall when the directions says put in a corner. Installers said they do not have the parts to install that way. Then they put a sensor for a window down low where my toddlers mess with them. Third, they did not send stickers or security sign, I'm still using my ADT ones. Should have never left ADT. Before purchasing the equipment from Life Shield I had spoken to constomer service rep. and he told me that he will include one camara free of charge, yeah right, they continuesly charge me $5 for the damp camara. I had called to dispute the charge, the rep. told me I should have read the contract before signing it and he had agreed to credit $5 going forward but cannot do anything for the past charges. He told me that he will send me an email so that I can sing the attachment and email it back to him I had never recieved that email. I had followed with a phone call about that email the same person picked up the call and promissed to resend me the email, never did. read more

Absolutely, positively the worst customer service of any company I have ever worked with. After only three days of deciding on my system, I could not get anyone to return my calls, answer emails or respond to my questions. I tried to cancel my order -- why would I invest a three year contract with jokers that would not even answer simple questions about warranty? I was put on hold, then they would hang up on me, transfer me to someone in "Cancellations" and then say I needed to talk to the manager, who was always inexplicably out of the office. I read reviews recently and this guy on another site summed it up for me: You will NOT receive support after you buy. The sales team sound like your best friend prior to giving them your credit card. After that, good luck. And when you try to cancel they will accidentally drop your call, have you talk to six different people (in the same office) and then, mysteriously, your return isn't processed and you owe them a $50 restocking fee. Shady, shady company. Buyer be I could not agree more. Tim Winters, George Gonzalez and Eric Blumenthal were the people I talked to. The cameras also stopped working after 6 months and they don't have local technicians any more so you're stuck troubleshooting with a telemarketer who offers zero expertise or help. I cannot wait until my contract ends early next year (I am stuck unless I buy myself out). They are a classic sell and forget. You are stuck with outdated technology. Their service forces you to figure things out on your own by searching and searching on their terrible old website. I have had to continually reset and replace batteries, even though I do not think they are bad. Their monitoring is an "I have no idea if it's real and working" service because you never hear from them. Totally reactive services. Don't waste your money on them. This the security system! I have had it for 4 years and it is excellent. They send u all the equipment for u to Install. Very simple. I like the feature of how u can link your doors to your phone. It's lets u know when someone comes and goes from your house. How they have system where if unload power to your house and don't have a land line it pic lol up on a cell tower. I bought my unit at the Home Shopping Center outlet while the company was still InGrid. I've owned the system for about three years now. It didn't take me long at all to setup the unit. The only part I didn't like was setting up each sensor and having to name it using T9 on the handset. I've had to replace all of the batteries in the sensors and components but the unit is wireless and I always had a feeling that day would come. I thought I'd find a better deal on replacing the battery in the main keypad, grid extender, and base unit only to find out it's impossible to find the batteries online or at a RadioShack/Best Buy. I called Lifeshield and found out they were only $6/each. The additional window sensor was cheaper than I thought too. I've accidentally tripped the alarm two times and I've been called within seconds of it going off. This is the first alarm system I've ever owned so I don't have any prior experiences to compare Lifeshield to. The only two issues I've had which are completly cosmetic are with the handset and the main keypad where one row of pixels have gone bad and no longer display. I'll continue on with my first world problem... I pay $29.99/mo and happy with the service. The recent refresh of their website took a few days to grow on me but it is now far superior to what it used to be. No complaints here. read more

Just signed up with LifeShield and so far its be fantastic. Super easy, great customer service and we received our system a day earlier than promised. I did opt for the additional coverage on our equipment so if I accidentally break the tablet or camera it's replaced without any out of pocket expense for me. LIFESHIELD IS A SCAM! DO NOT USE!!!!!! We signed up for a 24 month contract and we were not happy with the system b/c it was poorly designed and it didn't work well. After 28 months of service we called to cancel and they said we had a 36 month contract that was electronically signed. we did not sign anything electronically nor did we agree to a 36 month contract. After further investigation life shield claimed the we signed the revised contract on Jan 8th, 2015, a bogus date. we know this date is bogus bc my son was born on Jan 8th 2015 and there is no way I signed a life shield contract while undergoing surgery in the hospital. I called ADT to set up mu security services but some how i was connected to life shield, then the rep sold me on the services. Once I received the package I realized that my home will not be protected in the event of my internet services outage. I called 3 days in a row to speak with a customer service rep but the first two day the wait was over an hour, so on the 3rd my wait to speak with a rep was over twenty minutes. BUYER BEWARE!! I was foolish enough to purchase their equipment and installed it myself. What they will not tell you is that their monitoring system would NOT work if you do not apply and pay for a safety permit from your city police department, or else they will not acknowledge your alarm and will not come to your residence during an alarm sounds off. What can I do? So I paid my police department $100 for the alarm to work. This monitoring system "piggy backs" on your internet connection; meaning if your router restarts or updates, your alarm is not working either! They charge me $39.99 monthly which is comparable to what ADT would charge you..without the hassle of purchasing the equipment, installing it yourself, filling up an application for a safety permit and paying the police department. In the end of my 1 year contract, they told me that I will be charged for the amount of the equipment if not returned within 20 days! Didn't I just bought that from them? My experience with LifeShield was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any vendor. The system LefeShield sent me simply didn't work, and their technicians couldn't make it work. Despite these problems, they initially refused to cancel the three-year contract. It took an inordinate amount of time on the phone and the following letter to get the matter resolved. Dear Sir/Madam: My LifeShield home security system was shipped to me on July 1, 2011, and I installed it and started using it shortly after it arrived. At first, the system seemed to function normally. On August 25, 2011, local police showed up at my home, because they received a call from your monitoring service. After following up with your support staff, I learned that the alarm was triggered because after arming, the system did not detect that the door was closed when we left our home. Your support staff offered no solution to the problem. After another false alarm, your support staff indicated that I had an older model door sensor which was prone to malfunctions caused by vibrations when the door was closed. You sent me a new sensor. Installing the new sensor made no difference. After the next false alarm, your support staff tried resetting various parts of the system. Their efforts were fruitless. Several false alarms followed. Again, I followed up with your support staff. No solution was offered, and one of your representatives indicated that if I was not satisfied with your service, I should cancel my account. On September 11, I placed a call to request cancellation of my account and refund of payments made so far. The agent who took the call indicated that he needed to have the cancellation approved by his manager. While I was on the phone, the agent informed me that after reviewing my history, the manager approved the cancellation, that the account would be cancelled, and that I would be receiving a shipping slip I could use to return the system. When I asked about payments made so far, the agent informed me that the manager would call me to discuss the matter. I didn't hear from the manager until September 14 despite several messages left on his voicemail. By the time the manager got in touch with me, he had apparently changed his mind about canceling my account. Instead, he put me in touch with a senior technician. The technician verified that my sensor was installed properly and suggested a slight tweak to the installation. The technician's suggestion made no difference. I left messages for both the technician and the manager several days ago and have not heard from either of them. It's clear that the system you sold me is defective. The sensor is highly unreliable. It intermittently fails to detect when the door is opened and closed, as evidenced by the messages on the console, the feedback chimes and, of course, the false alarms. The nature of the problems renders the system unusable, and I have stopped trying to use it to protect my home. Since I am still without a functioning system after more than 60 days, and you are unable to rectify the problems, despite your technicians' repeated attempts to troubleshoot the issues with the current and the original sensors, please cancel my account and send me a refund for the payments made to date. I trust that you will be able to provide me with a refund without me having to take legal action. read more

I've had a LifeShield system for 5 years. Generally, I was happy with the service and the equipment. However, about a month ago, they sent "updated" hardware that I was required to install. From the lack of knowledgeable tech support to the poorly-designed hardware update, each component is significantly inferior to the legacy system. I've had Lifeshield for 2 years now. At first, when I would accidentally set off my alarm someone would call. The last 2 times, NO CALL to check and see if everything was ok. I referred a friend to them in April, it is now July 25, 2013 and I still haven't rec'd my pre-paid bonus referral card of $100! I called twice and this last time they told me that the last person "told me wrong" so now I have to bother the folks I referred to them and ask them for their account number. I told Lifeshield that they have that, so why do they need it from me. They are making me jump through hoops and if I conducted business the way they do, then I would have NONE. I also accrued 2 months of free service for being a long standing customer. I had to ASK for the free months. Wouldn't you think they would just give them to you?! So, this is how they thank their customers. As soon as I'm done w/ my 2 mths of free service and I get my pre-paid card, I will be looking for another provider. Super pissed now! read more

I would NEVER recommend anyone buy anything from this company. We ordered a system that could not be installed, their product didn't work, I sent it back after they gave me approval and a shipping label. Now they are saying "To bad it was after 30 days." Finally I found someone who said they would because of the circumstances. After talking with their account specialist they said it would be 14 days after they received the product back before the refund would come. It didn't, so I called and got this answer. "As a courtesy we cancelled your contract but we will not refund your original cost!". Even though they have the product now. When I first signed up with them they said my 76 year old mom could setup the system. Not the case. I live 500 miles away and by the time I got there to set it up it was about 20 days in. I spent 3 days and about 6 hours working with their tech support to get it to work. I even increased my internet speed and had my internet provider open 'ports' on my router, making it less secure just so their system would work. That didn't work either. They just continued to blame my isp and gave up trying to get it to activate.So now they have their crappy product back and I'm out $200! What a scam! The contract will let you know that the early termination fee is equal to the remaining monthly payments for the life of the contract. Go with a reputable vendor like ADT! My husband and I have used LifeShield Security Systems for the past 3 years. The LifeShield Security Systems has served us well and we feel a sense of security and safety because this System is in place. We have never experienced a false alarm due to equipment malfunctions. We have had false alarms due to our forgetfulness and the Service Center makes immediate contact if the Alarm is not disarmed in time. When LifeShield upgraded from a 2G to a 3G cellular system, all of our equipment was upgraded to the lastest technology on the market at no cost to us. We wanted to go with a local company for our alarm system so we found lifeshield. After we researched them on the BBB we decided we should go with them due to ratings. During the sales call we asks a few specific questions that was a must for us.#1-We asked what cell provider was used for the Cell Gateway?The sales person said we have a dualband chip that supports both cdma and gsm so Tmobile/ATT/Verizon. (This is a lie, they only buy from tmobile)#2- We asked does the console chime or announce an entry such as "Front Door Open"The sales person said indeed it does and we will be very happy with the service. (This is a lie as it only chimes)Upon receiving the alarm system we set everything up and then tried the cell gateway. We showed we only had one bar of service. We found this to be extremely odd as I have ATT cell service and my wife has Verizon to which we both have full 4G 5 bar service. We even stood in the driveway with Cell Gateway and it would not acquire a signal. I called in to troubleshoot and they immediately said it would work and sent us a broadband gateway.Fast forward a few hrs and we decided that we wanted to cancel due to our issues and reliability. We were put in touch with the sales person who sold us the equipment who said I knew you were going to have issues with the cell service... it never works right. Are you kidding me?? You are selling something to protect people that doesn't work. We asked how do we pack this up and send it back? The salesman said to toss it all in the box and we would be refunded everything except for $50 and the $20 shipping charge.I am currently on the phone being told that we didn't package it correctly and that lifeshield will be charging us $50 additional because our packaging wasn't correct. I was 24 hours within My new service and already experiencing horrid issues concerns. John Offered his help I honestly thought it was a waste of my time on top of the weeks I spent trying/arguing with both sides DirecTv Lifeshield over how they snuck in a 36 month Obligation and didn't even notify me or give me any notice. All BS aside John came through and used his management influence and experienced , A few days later I had both sides calling me asking to resolve this matter all is said and done I couldn't be happier My Directv service is great with awesome channel line up and great customer service. My Lifeshield is So So please do your research on there track record especially equipment and Contracts. If you don't know anything about this Company then why on earth would you Obligate yourself to a 3 yr Contract with them? They just automatically renewed the service after three years of the original contract by one year. When I tried to cancel it, they would charge me $70 for early termination fee. I have had lifeshield for the past five years. I called today to add a 2nd home to my account and asked what discounts they have. LS told me they wont give discounts anymore for multiple accounts and that I have to sign a new contract for 3 years to add a second home. Is that a way to treat a customer that has been with you from the start before you sold to direct tv.... My alarm triggers dont work for my cameras on the account, and tech support cant fix them look at other options! read more

Within 30 days of setting everything up (install was no problem) I received the Kindle Fire and just this week received my Amazon gift card. I WILL NEVER AGAIN GET LIFESHIELD & FURTHERMORE WILL ADVISE EVERY SINGLE PERSON I KNOW AGAINST IT. Additionally I will inform my mom (a Realtor) to their sketchy business practices and ask her to inform her office mates and colleagues so no one gets screwed like we did. If your curious the story is below... I ordered LifeShield for a rental for my roommates and I as we were moving to the city. When you sign up you agree to a 2 year contract of monthly monitoring fees. After the 2 years we moved and I called to cancel the system noticing that I had already been billed for a 25th month (when the contract was for 24). I was informed that on page 5 of a 10 page agreement I consented to electronically there was a stipulation that I had submit a request to them in writing (60 days prior to the 2 year term expiring) to cancel or else I was automatically renewed for an additional 12 months. The fee for this was 12 months of monthly monitoring fees, or over $400. Explaining the situation the cs rep reduced the charge to $200. This was the last positive experience I had with LifeShield. I told her I would call back as I needed to check with roommates, she told me I had a month until I would be charged again. I called about a week ago to discuss getting the $200 waived. We had fulfilled our contract, and were never notified that it would auto renew or that we had to notify them with the exception of the fine print of a contract from 2 years ago that I didn't even receive a copy of for my records. This time I asked to talk to a supervisor and had to ask at least 10 times before the rep would check to escalate things. She came back, told me they were all at lunch and they would call me back. A week later and nothing. Called again, all reps were busy, asked to be called back, nothing. Called again today to talk to a supervisor who might have been just as efficient and understanding if he were a recording. After 10 minutes of him not getting my point and quoting some obscure page of a 730+ day old contract we are paying $200. DO NOT GET LIFESHIELD, unless you set an alarm to notify them in writing 60 days prior, or you are okay with being SCREWED!! In addition to them stealing our money they made it hard work to even get a hold of someone to cancel, I have honestly spent over 3 hours trying to get this resolved. read more

I have had Life Shield for the past year and a half and I am pretty pleased with the system and its affordability. I and a few family members have used ADT in the past and have had nothing but issues with customer service. I have had nothing but great experiences with Life Shield's customer service so far. All my questions and concerns have been answered in a satisfying way and believe me I am not an easy customer to please. I test my system regularly and as of yet I have not been able to defeat it which offers me comfort as I used to get into my brothers house with ADT. I find Life Shield equipment is more than affordable enough to create a fail proof system. In my honest opinion Life Shield is a great company who has never let me down. read more

I have only been using the system for about 2 months, their support system has been very fast and the problems were fixed fast, I like the fact that I can alarm and disconnect the alarm from my smart phone, I can also see any history from my phone, but I have already had to replace a siren sensor, at no cost to me. Although I thought the kit came with more sensors, they only provided 3, so far I am satisfied. read more
