I've always been a hands-on kinda guy with things around the house. Now that I'm in my late 60's…read morewith a bad back and knees, I've found some repairs beyond my ability and must humble myself and call for help. Trouble is - you never know who to trust. So, said a prayer and asked the Lord to guide me. I was lead to Prostar Appliance Repair. I got same day repair with Aleksander. I am amazed with how polite, courteous and professional he was. Simply amazing work.

My refrigerator stopped working, my freezer operation was degraded but was still running. I…read morecontacted ProStar due to their almost perfect ratings. That was on Sunday 26 July 2026. They responded to my text amazingly fast. I texted them early Sunday morning around 7 AM. Told me someone would be coming by 11-1 PM. I thought that was awesome. BTW not a fan of AI, but their AI call center is amazing. 1 PM (name withheld) shows up with his tool bag and walks in. He seemed to be in a hurry on the way in and on the way out. He pulls the refrigerator off the wall, does (something?) Pushes it back and tells me "my compressor is dead". He sends me an estimate for $1046.78. I place $100 cash down to get repairs booked so I now owe $946.78 on a "dead compressor" repair. He then scoots out the door after maybe 15 minutes. Knowing a compressor failure is a costly failure, it caused us quite a bit of stress. I decided, against the advice of my wife, to still give ProStar a try. She was ready to cancel repairs and buy a new costly refrigerator which I talked her out of because I know almost all brands are garbage except for Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid. Here comes Shawn on Tuesday. Super guy, diagnosed the problem correctly with pictures for me, got to the part that was actually malfunctioning (freezer fan assembly with faulty sensor causing a big block of ice over it) and got it back up running for way less than "a dead compressor" like "expert" (name withheld) said. $481 bill plus my $100 deposit. I'm giving you all 4-5 stars because of the initial poor customer service I got.

Do not hire this contractor if you value your time, money, or sanity…read more The work quality itself seemed fine, but that's where the good news ends. We had a signed contract for $3,300 in labor to complete a full bathroom remodel in two weeks, with a $50/day penalty for delays and clear availability windows (no Sundays). Before the ink was even dry, he demanded the first payment of $1,100 -- directly contradicting the payment schedule we both signed. His excuse was that he was tired and hadn't read the contract. He then threatened to walk if I didn't pay immediately, so I did. Work progressed okay until it came time to tile. His sub was unavailable for several days with no updates. When he finally got back to me, he said his tile guy could come Saturday and finish Sunday -- a day I explicitly excluded in our contract. After I pointed that out: complete silence. No response to calls or texts. He simply vanished, leaving me with a half-finished bathroom and $1,100 out of pocket, with no explanation of what that payment actually covered. He decided on his own what portion of the work justified that payment and walked away without a word. This is not someone who honors agreements. If you're considering hiring him, make sure you're okay with the possibility of being left with an unfinished job and no recourse.

We were eager to securely hang our recent purchase of a "In Case Of Emergency Break Glass" Vampire…read morehunting kit so took to Yelp to get quotes. Mitch's business had all 5 star reviews and he was the first to respond with an agreeable quote so we booked his services. He arrived a couple hours early but was very understanding when I asked if he could return at the agreed upon time so we could be ready for the visit. First, he helped hang the art piece we recently bought at the Oddities and Curiosities expo and wanted to make sure it was hung properly. The wall space we wanted to hang the art piece in did not have a stud, but Mitch had other supplies that would support the weight of it securely. It was hung perfectly and looks great in the space. Next he took a look at another project we had to insulate one of our outside doors. This door is very warped by being exposed to the elements and he was honest in saying aside from replacing the door, any other fix would be more temporary. He gave us advice on what to buy and how to insulate the door ourselves. Had we had the insulation strips he could have included this in his tasks but we only had our old insulation because we were not sure what insulating the door would entail. There is a minimum charge of $85 for any task but confirm when you book. It will cost less if you can pay cash or send the money through Zelle. Mitch was professional and polite the entire experience. I would definitely book him again for future projects if needed.
