My appointment is at 11:30 and it's 12:30 and I still haven't been called up. What a stupid stupid useless excuse of a system. And to add everyone there seems to hate their lives like every other government building. They don't even call the numbers in order is so stupid, someone could show up after you and get called before you. In my case that's exactly what keeps happening. Stupid people and stupid systems i swear to god.

I walked in and waited 2.5 hours apparently just to "make an appointment" to come back. The appointment was 3 weeks after I initially went in. I had something come up and couldn't make the appointment- there was no feasible way to change it. It's 2025, there should be a booking website or something. I drove to the location, spent $6 on parking and waited almost 3 hours, just to have someone tell me to come back in 3 weeks of which I now have missed and don't know the best way to start this whole process over again. I'm a born citizen and just want to get my SS card replaced and it wouldn't let me do it online. Absolutely awful!

When you are in town visiting, this is a must for everyone. There is so much to see, so much to…read moreeat, and so much to do. Plus, you can get your steps in for the day. There are so many parking lots in the area and it really doesn't matter where you park, since they are all in the area and there is something on every corner. On special events, it can get busy and you may not find a parking spot. On this visit, we were here for the Dia de Los Muertos festival and it was packed. Luckily, we got there early, so were able to park quick and right behind the church (best location/lot). First off, make sure to take a picture by the park sign since it tends to get backed up with tourists. There are many vendors along the streets and also inside the shopping area which has lots of cool items and souvenirs. Inside the park, there are little museums that talk about the history of San Diego and the prominent families that call this home. Really cool learning experience and to get an idea of what SD looked like in the past. Plus, there is a cemetery with different tombstones with information for those that are intrigued by learning more about the deceased. Also, be sure to look down when walking on the street, there are grave markers where people have been laid to rest. A bit spooky but interesting. On Dia de Los Muertos, they have special vendors selling custom art pieces and numerous tables to do arts and crafts. I was able to try calligraphy wit a quill pen, make my own sugar skull, and also design a papel picado. There was live music and face painting to celebrate all our loved ones who have passed. The restaurants located in Old Town are also great so make sure you find the one that calls you in. From authentic Mexican food, to a quick bite, there is something for everyone. Be sure to wear walking shoes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty since most of the areas are grassy or have dirt trails. Def recommend everyone to visit at least once to explore. Have fun and enjoy your day at one of San Diego's popular neighborhoods.

If you've grown up in Los Angeles, chances are you've been to Old Town in San Diego. It's a pretty…read moreeasy drive, but feels like you've entered another world. The building were settled to feel like stepping into San Diego at the turn of the 19th century. If you focus on the history of the landscape and the structures themselves, looking beyond the carts filled with modern day tchotchkes and souvenirs, you can definitely appreciate what it must have been like. We were in SD for a game at Petco. I wanted to stay in the Old Town area because I have only ever done day, or once an evening, trips to Fiesta plaza and the restaurants and scores of stores along San Diego Ave, to the east of the OTSDSHP, but never really explored this neighborhood beyond the usual tourist spots. What a treat it was to enjoy this beautiful park at night, long after tourists had departed, and while a few locals remained for a last call, or to close down their stalls and shops for the night. This park takes on a rather special feel, more personal and slightly spookier than I imagined. We felt very safe walking around the grounds at night. Saw a few SDPD patrolling the perimeters, making sure late night bar goers minded their Ps & Qs, as well a a few other couples just strolling around, enjoying the soft lighting and old world charm. Many people and reviews will tell you about the great shops, food and margaritas to be had in Old Town and I fully concur! There's just nothing like a fresh made, hot, buttery flour tortilla and a margarita larger than your head on a warm , sunny day. But, if you can, come check out the area around 9pm and stroll the grounds, reading the various building and history plaques. Crowds have departed and not much, if anything is still open, but the quiet beauty of the park at night is time well spent reflecting on what it must've been like to settle in this beautiful region over 200 years ago. Cheers! "CC"

Officially, it is there because the OB Police storefront was closed a few years back & this is a way of keeping some kind of "police presence" in the beach area. But many others think it is bogus and needs to move. According to a story in a recent Peninsula Beacon newspaper, this Police trailer was put in place in 1999 and supposed to have been only temporarily situated there. But the years dragged on, and the Police Trailer is said to house just a cop bathroom and a break area for police to kick back and write reports. Many in the Ocean Beach community begrudge the cops their blue trailer for taking up precious parking spaces in the always crowded lot and feel the cops should move it over to Robb Field--where there is more room and just as much crime. The big news is a citizen has filed a complaint against the trailer and now the Police Dept. is having to get a permit to park it in the lot from the California Coastal Commission! So because the Police Trailer does provide some kind of "police presence" in the parking lot area where druggies and penniless vagrants roam free, I gave it 3 YELP STARS. But I also deducted 2 YELP STARS due to the trailer being a view-blocking, parking space-clogging eyesore that rubs it into the faces of OBceans that THE MAN is always watching them. Maybe the Coastal Commission will deny them a permit and they can haul the trailer somewhere else. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Efficiency Is Winning…read more I had a positive experience at this Social Security office, especially considering the reputation these offices sometimes get. I live in Downtown San Diego but I needed an appointment within 2 weeks. Q: How long did it take to make the appointment? A: The phone call to reschedule the appointment took about 45 minutes, which honestly was the least efficient part of the process. This could definitely be improved. Q: Was parking difficult? A: Not at all. Parking was easy and convenient when I arrived. Q: Did they take walk-ins? A: Yes. The security guard asked whether I had an appointment or was a walk-in. When I arrived around 10:30 a.m. on a Friday, there was only one person waiting for walk-in services. By the time I left, there were about seven people waiting, so it definitely became busier closer to 11:30 a.m. I don't know the wait time for walk-ins, though. TIP: The first seatingrow closest to the kiosk is the waiting row/line for walk-ins Q: Were you seen on time? A: Yes, actually earlier than my appointment time because I arrived early. That was impressive. Q: What was the office environment like? A: The office was clean, organized, and calm. Even the bathrooms were clean. Q: How was the staff? A: Excellent. The security guard was firm but personable and maintained order without making the environment uncomfortable. I was helped at Window 6, and although I unfortunately didn't get the gentleman's name, he was , thorough and professional without judgment. Q: What was your appointment for? A: I was submitting documentation related to conservatorship and was also able to get a copy of a benefits verification letter during the same visit. TIP: be clear on your appointment description because that will determine how much you can get done in one appointment. Q: How long did the actual appointment take? A: About 30 minutes total, and it moved quickly because I brought all the required documentation with me. Q: Was check-in easy? A: Yes. There is a self check-in kiosk, and you may also receive a QR code by text. I used the kiosk without any issues. Just make sure you have your Social Security number available. Overall, I would recommend this location. I need an appointment in San Diego within 2 weeks and this was the only location that was available The actual in-office process was efficient, organized, and much smoother than expected. My biggest recommendation would be: bring all your documents and mid morning appointments may be best. Parking lot was full at 11:35 a.m. "Efficiency matters when people are navigating important life situations."
