Really dirty pools, removed basketball for a sport I did not even know of, and the machines are all cramped together. Its a really expensive gym and if you want to waste money this is for you. My family has spent 250-300$ just for 5 people which is a lot more expensive then others. What I do recommend is that you find a different location because this is the only bad one. read more

The manager here is horrible. I called her on a Monday then Wednesday and then again on Thursday. Never got back to me. I was polite and explained I had an issue with the membership. I called again on Thursday to the front desk again so they could track her down as she was still not returning my calls. I explained my issue to her. The problem I had was that when she was done talking to me she was done. She said "I am going to end this call now." I don't care for managers who cannot talk through an issue and try and solve it. I understand I was not going to be refunded and I was fine with that (although the information I was given was wrong) but to just end the call like that was demeaning & childish. read more

As someone who has worked at and attended multiple Lifetimes all around the country this one has been the worst. If you can go to a different club near by like Lakeville or Bloomington South you will be much better off. This one is so small and crammed trying to do everything it just looks like a mess. Also, do not have your children do swim lessons here! The pool was freezing! They said they turn the heater on right before class (which obviously won't heat up a pool immediately.) All of the kids in class were visibly shivering the entire time and my child ended up with a cold immediately after her first lesson. read more

I have got to say that this gym is legit in absolutely any way. When I entered this place, it absolutely changed my perspectives about gym. Let me tell you that they have it's own steam rooms on every locker room. I would also have to say that I had such a good experience. There is literally nothing wrong with this place. I absolutely enjoyed a steam room. It was so clean and nice in there. The temperature was perfectly hot. I absolutely sure that the price for this place monthly is worth of what its have to offer. Outside is also clean. Believe me or not, after 8 pm you can park a semi truck on a parking lot. And relax there in a steam room. I absolutely enjoyed my experience here. I experience racism in this gym. First time ever that I was laughed at by people in the gym. Two girls approaching a machine close to me and laughing at me and pointing fingers to another girl. Both of them are white, I am a Chinese foreigner I am in good shape, and never got any experience like this in a gym before. But regardless of shape, no one should experience it. It was racism. I honestly can't think of anything else. Why it never happens in the past but only in this gym? I don't know if it's because of its location or their poor management. Those people's action took away our pleasure in the gym and that pleasure is paid by expensive membership. I'm not confident on this gym community. I've reported this to the front desk I'll update my review once I saw the gym done something to address the rule. read more

Fans of the 24/7 factor. There are not a ton of 24/7 locations which I'm a bit surprised at. There are more of them in Il and they all seem to have outdoor pools with waterslides. Not that it matters now, but in the summer it will. Pros: - free towels - lockers - co-Mingling sauna - co -mingling spas - decent pool, but not a deep one which is kind of a bummer - kickboards -lots of machines Cons: No track No outdoor pool This one is similar to the one in Bloomingdale,Il. However in my opinion, that one is nicer. Has an outdoor pool, waterslides, immaculately clean and great staff. The floor in the pool area at this location is a bit icky, and worse for me because I forgot my flip flops. I hate not having flip flops in common wet areas. It gives me the creeps. Overall, it's alright and I'm a fan of the distance. This one is the closest so far with all that we are looking for. read more

I'd trade my current club membership for Lifetime if it were in my hometown. I visit MN in the winter every few years and have been a guest a Lifetime each visit. The indoor cycling classes are useful for off season cycle training or just a good workout. They have a good selection of fitness classes and the instructors seem well trained. Life Time Woodbury - Gyms Near Me - Woodbury, Minnesota

Coming from my home gym (Saint Louis Park Lifetime, Onyx-level) I knew that Woodbury, as a gold-level gym may be smaller and have less amenities, however I was hoping that the quality would at least be uniform across all Lifetime locations regardless of level. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in this location. There is so much equipment crammed into such a small space that there is almost no floor room to actually get a workout in. In addition, both trainers as well as patrons were hoarding dumbbells to the point that no pairs between 5-20lbs were available. People were taking them from the main dumbbell rack and carrying them elsewhere in the gym, so there wasn't even the possibility to share with others. My workout took twice as long as usual while waiting on weights to magically reappear. And this was around 3:30-4pm! I can't imagine how awful rush hour gets. What I find particularly disappointing is that I pay the Onyx-level membership not only for the amenities of the SLP location, but to have access to nearly every other Lifetime in the Twin Cities, yet those locations never seem to measure up in quality. Considering that this is the company's home town, every single gym regardless of level should be on point. read more

This location is only a 2 star spot for me. Group exercise and personal training are the only reason I pay for a gym membership. I'd use my weight bench at home if I was capable of motivating myself on my own. So having a standout GroupX experience is super important to me. My main "beef" with Woodbury is the group exercise classes. They are spectacularly bad, if you have ever had the opportunity to go anywhere that's actually good (like say SLP LifeTime) and make a comparision. On the other hand, if your only groupx experience is a Y or just this location, you might not notice how bad it is. Trust me. If you shop around, you'll see the difference. Why is it bad? As a former fitness instructor myself, I take issue with their classes. Most of the classes are in a format where the instructor has wide latitude to create their own routines and choreography. Unlike the Les Mill's BodyStep programs or Zumba, where it is prepackaged and pre-choreographed and you just need a fun instructor to lead you through it, LifeTime generally leaves it to the discretion of each instructor to make up their own moves. The vast majority of instructors at Woodbury couldn't 32 count their way out of a paper bag. You routinely get off-beat, lopsided combos where you work one side but not the other. You get 6 beat combos in pair of phrases that leave you short when the chorus kicks in. It's hard to follow, especially if you have a dance, music, or fitness background. If you are a newbie and find the classes hard to follow - its not that you're new - it's that their combos suck and don't make sense. Also, their instructors didn't seem to have any special certifications... like some higher end gyms (think THE FIRM in Minneapolis) will require industry specific certifications like NETA or ACE GroupX certs, LifeTime just trains people on their own. When you are trying to be a high end club, and charging like it, sticking a marketing major or medical sales rep in there to do her own thing just doesn't work. Yes, even being an amateur marathon runner doesn't qualify you in kinieseology or choreography. The people at Woodbury seem to think sticking any buff person in a classroom setting will just work itself out. You run into issues where the moves and combos they string together can potentially be medically unsound. Using momentum and power on joints in an awkward manner can really cause pain and real repercussions. The classes routinely start late too. The instructors aren't really personable either. I've been to over 30 classes (no lie - want to see my heart rate monitor logs?) with the Tuesday and Wednesday night instructor and she still doesn't know my name. I've raised my concerns with Sean Severson, the Woodbury location manager. He seemed genuinely concerned and referred me to the GroupX manager for resolution, Jen Schwarzenbacher. She initally seemed interested in my concerns, but after a few months I followed up with her again and she seemed to feel that the instructors had made a lot of progress and were now good enough and meeting the bare minimum goals for instructors, and my concerns were no longer valid. Maybe the instructors straighten up and make an effort when she's in there grading them but I sure didn't see a difference. As far as I'm concerned, they are still awful. Apparently that's good enough for Woodbury though. Anyway, I would have stuck them with 1 star - but the personal training department actually has some bright spots. Preston and Krista are amazing trainers. If you work with them YOU WILL see results. They are super good at what they do, and are worth the money. Stay away from Gary though. I'll never train with him again. He sucks. Overall, with only 2 good personal trainers... a really bad trainer, and a slew of terrible groupx, I just can't rate the Woodbury location any higher. Go out to the Saint Louis Park location, or Chanhassen, or even Plymouth or Savage. They do GroupX right there. read more

I haven't been going out to eat a lot lately as I've been spending more time at the gym, so it made some sense to write a little review of my new gym. I came to this gym from a much smaller, darker, dingier gym so it really shouldn't have taken much to impress me. That said, this place really exceeds my expectations in terms of the facility. This place is clean, well lit, and not too smelly (for a gym). There are a TON of cardio machines, so I've never had an issue finding one I want to use. There also seem to be two of every weight machines so it isn't too hard to get the right exercises into your rotation. The pool area is great. I try to swim at least once a week, and then hit their spacious sauna. For those who prefer wet heat, they have two huge hot tubs. There are also great convenience points, like free towels, being open 24/7, and lounges in the locker rooms with large screen TVs so you can just chill out a little after, "blasting your abs" (I didn't make that phrase up, I kid you not I actually heard that at the gym one day-sounds painful, doesn't it!). The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is that while the staff is friendly and helpful, I feel that any time I approach them I have to be prepared to fend of at least 15 minutes of hard-sell for personal training sessions. It's like, "yes, I get it, I'm fat," (see all other restaurant/beer reviews) but I could go for a little bit of a lower pressure conversation. This isn't the cheapest gym to join, but I really feel like it is worth the money. read more

I just moved to Woodbury from Parker, CO, where there is a large, newish LIFETIME gym. I was really, really happy with the gym there, and when I realized I'd be moving up here I was content to start working out at the nearest LIFETIME. I've been to the Woodbury LIFETIME 3 times now and I think I'm done. The building is small, the lifting area is way too cramped, the front lobby area is difficult to navigate during prime times. The parking lot is strangely laid out so that good spots are difficult to come by. There are advertisements absolutely everywhere. The staff are standoffish at best, and a few times have openly disregarded my space (there's not a lot of space anywhere so it's not a huge infraction in my book). Now for the good: the lockers are spacious and clean, the cardio area - while tight - provides plenty of machines. The location is nice, the hours can't be beat, the price isn't too bad, and there are other LIFETIME locations nearby(ish). Overall, I think its not a horrible gym, but I've been spoiled in CO, so I'll be moving on. read more

I have been working out at Lifetime Fitness Woodbury since I was 10 years old, and still do to this day as an almost 19 year old. I absolutely love it there. It is an amazing gym, super nice! It is always clean and well kept, the lockers are spacious, there are plenty of machines, the weights area is big, there are tons of group fitness classes, and the staff is AWESOME! Every time I walk in I am greeted with a smile and everyone there is super friendly. I have never had a staff member be rude or standoffish towards me in my almost 8 years of being a regular. The personal training there is great, too! They are all so knowledgeable, and SUPER friendly&helpful! They care so much about their clients, it's awesome to see! Many of them have given me tips that have helped me so much, and they are always there to answer questions if you have any! 5 stars from me. Couldn't ask for a better gym. I'd like to be able to review the machines and atmosphere. To rate the cleanliness of the locker rooms, the friendliness of the staff, the parking, peak times, rates. I'd like to say that I came out of my shell and took a class, or that I actually, for the first time, got a personal trainer. I'd like to say these things, but I can't. The membership coordinator, once she realized that I was not interested in the bells, whistles, and a grand tour according to her time frame, simply stopped answering my questions. I will remain with our current club, just 10-15 minutes from us. Thanks for saving me a ton of money, Life Time! I love this gym. I started working out 6 or 7 days a week about 8 months ago, and had been to this location before, years prior, so I decided to get a membership for myself and start putting in some hard work. The atmosphere is SO nice. Everyone works extremely hard and it's incredibly inspiring and has definitely been a big part in getting me where I am today. I love that they provide towels for you...they are never out, and you don't have to bring your own and leave with it sitting in your bag sopping wet. It's a very clean, well-kept facility, and the employees are very friendly. I also love that it's open 24/7..plus they're making a lot of long-overdue upgrades throughout the facility right now! Tonight we went to the Woodbury Lifetime Fitness with the intention of using the pool, and hot tub. When we went in to the pool/hot tub area there was a woman in the hot tub wearing sneakers. She went from the hot tub and into the pool. When I brought this to the attention of the attendant at the desk he shrugged and said, 'Well, I can't stop them.' This is just not acceptable or hygienic. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one. read more

Yes there's lots of equipment. This is a very expensive gym, and if you work out at 6 PM you are SOL here. There's no space, all the squat racks of being used, and if you use the multipurpose room one of the trainers will kick you out because they are having class. They don't seem to notice that they posted hours for their classes are wrong. Not the worst team in the world, but not worth the money if you workout at peak times. read more

Lifetime needs to offer more beginner level classes. I couldn't find any at this location. Even thought they may be listed on the schedule good luck finding anything that is beginner level. I had just started working out again and felt like a total dork trying to keep up pace with all of the experts in the cardio class. When we did have our membership this was my biggest complaint. The place had plenty of equipment so there was never a wait and this was nice. Occasionally i would see some loser who wouldn't wipe the sweat off with the cleaner after using equipement for this it would have been nice to see a cleaner person going around in that room as a back up. The locker rooms were kept very clean so that was nice. My daughter took private swimming lessons here and all of the instructors were wonderful. read more

Absolutely the most run down lifetime in the metro. There were piles of dirty soiled towels in the ladies locker room to apparently catch the water leaking from beneath the sinks. The staff were all too busy talking about their night lives to acknowledge members. There was litter throughout the club. In the actual workout area the carpeting (?) was soiled and coming up at the seams. Such a disappointment. We won't be back to this location. read more

Don't need to complain about the staff since I don't bother them too much and likewise. Their classes though, are the best! I take Dance Jam with Sokun and he's out of this world! I mostly come to lift weights. It gets super busy during the evenings and weekends but despite that, it's pretty clean. Locker rooms are great too. read more

LA fitness is much cheaper and great service. Account managers here come up with attractive plans to lure new customers but don't show same service when letting go members. Utter disrespect. I give this facility a 5/5 because it provides me with all my fitness needs. Another great thing about this facility is that it is very clean and they always have clean towels ready for use. Be careful when cancelling your membership. I went into the club to pay my dues and cancel. I was told all was taken care of. Nope. Next month I get another bill and when I called to find out why - I was told it was the "last billing cycle's bill." I informed the individual that I was told when I went into the club and paid and cancelled that I everything was taken care of. Still had to pay another month's fee. read more

I've been a member at woodbury lifetime way too long and finally cancelled my membership, which turned out to be yet another big disappointment. I had to wait, and then be talked down to by a young woman who didn't even ask why I was cancelling! The place is clearly over sold as there is no parking, the work out areas are packed and the employees not friendly or helpful. From a swimmer's perspective, this location has gotten better. The pool/pool area seems better maintained, compared to Eagan, and their classes seem better organized and less obstructive to swimmers, also when compared to Eagan. You'll still find people tying up lap lines, not swimming despite an open leisure area, but the atmosphere seems much improved as of late. read more

I have been a member of Lifetime for about a year now, and have attended multiple classes offered. I thought the classes were good but the barbell strength class I participated in yesterday, instructed by Carrie L. was the best yet. She was the first instructor that has ever came up and introduced herself, by doing so she made me feel welcome and comfortable. She taught at a great pace and encouraged us throughout the class. A couple of friendly ladies also explained things to me and made my experience fantastic. I will definitely be participating in barbell strength in the future, all thanks to the kind ladies and Carrie!! read more

I was a LifeTime fitness member from 2008-2013. Lifetime is not really a family gym like YMCA. However its open 24/7 the club is beautiful and clean. I am very heavy and have encountered rude comments. It's not an inviting gym but it is a very nice place and I tended to go during non-peak hours. This was the only nearby option with a pool when downtown closed in 2010. It became a deterrent for me and I decided to end my membership. read more

My daughter accidently wrapped her swimsuit in her towel and placed in the laundry bin. We immediately called when we got home (15 minutes later) and were told that they were unable to help us at the time, as there was only one person at the front desk, but they asked for our name and number to call us back. We left our information and waited for a call. No response. After a week or two, we asked again in person once we got to the club. Once again, we were dismissed and told that they would have to check the lost and found at a later time, once again, we left our name, number, and other contact information. No response. Finally, we gave it a third try. While checking in at the front desk, we asked if they had found our swimsuit. The response was that the lost and found items are purged every 2 weeks, so it was long gone (after further talking to a manager, this information is incorrect, as he claimed that they keep the items for a month). No matter what we said, the lady at the front desk, cut us off and said that she would show us the policy we signed with the information regarding the lost and found as a part of our membership. Disrespectful and another employee came up and said that it was "just as likely at our house". Had there been any apology, attempt to contact us back, or just plain listen, we would still be members. At the end of the day, the way this situation was handled was unprofessional, the staff was arrogant and stuck up, unwilling to help, rude, and dismissive. It is not the fact that we lost our *expensive* swimsuit. It was the way the situation (and others previous) have been handled. The staff did not want to help and made that evident. Even when we cancelled, still no apology or even any attempt to keep a member at the gym (even though other gyms are WAY less per month). The amenities and other "great" services they offer are negated by the front desk staff and other employees. Clearly, a staff member HAD to have run across the brightly colored suit at some point while loading the towels into the washer, dryer, and folding, along with restocking the towels in the locker rooms.
